Definitely squirrel proof but only lasts 2 years
Definitely squirrel proof, at least where I have it hung. It's been awesome. It's 2 years old now, but a few months ago, food started spilling out every time birds eat. I finally investigated... the plastic where they push their beaks in to get food (flexports) has worn away. So it's a great feeder, but it only has a 2-year life. I tried to repair it with tape, wire, and security ties, which sounded easy, but failed on all 3 tries. It's probably doable, but more effort than I've had time for yet. UPDATE: you can buy replacement flexports so this review went from a 4 to a 5! It's a great feeder.

Great squirrel proof feeder
Have looked for a squirrel-proof bird feeder for years with little or no luck...... until now. Outstanding feeder. Definitely recommend it.

Almost perfect
The squirrels have been trying to defeat this for weeks and they finally did. But with one design adjustment, I think this would be perfect. In each port is a small plastic barrier that holds the seeds in but allows the birds to peck at them. The squirrels chewed through thst and now, when they shake it, the seeds fall out. If those were metal, it would be perfect. They canโt get the too off, they canโt chew through the glassโฆ.this is the only weak point. Overall its a great feeder that holds a lot and is sturdy. It looks nice and is reasonably priced. The only drawback is thst my squirrels hang from the top by their feet so they donโt activate the weight trigger that closes the seed ports. Then they chew through the plastic. I think im going to try buying some metal screening if i can find the right size to let the birds get the seed through them and cover those ports. The birds love it though!!

Worked extremely well till the flexports wore down
2nd UPDATE: I was sent a new replacement bird feeder. And I appreciate the quick response from the company customer service. But if the flexport material is not improved or replacement ports are never available, I can only see this problem recurring every 4-5 months. UPDATE: It has now been 5-1/2 months using Perky-Pet feeder. No squirrel is able to grasp the wide girth and cannot hang from the lid because I have a ballast above it. My problem now is that the flexports have worn considerably from the birds' pulling seeds through. Now I lose 50% of the seed to the ground every day, especially on windy days. I am awaiting response from seller about a fix or replacement of flexports. I've now just seen other reviewers stating the same problem and no replacement is available. If there is no resolution to this obviously frequent issue, my overall rating would have to fall from 5-star down to 2-star. I have had this feeder for a few months now and it is 1/2 of a setup that has 100% kept the squirrels off the feeder (I've watched them try and fly off). I use a metal baffle over this feeder and with the wide, smooth plastic top girth of the feeder, the squirrels are completely unable to grasp the sides to hold on. The baffle helps deter them equally. The only mild issue I had was that the perches at the bottom are a little flimsy and seemed to angle downward a bit. I was able to adjust them slightly with careful adjustment of the metal attachment.

Condensation is the enemy...and ongoing expense of port replacement.
Cannot recommend at all... it does slow down the squirrels but with the lack of ventilation... any temp changes cause a huge amount of condensation to form inside the clear tube, which causes the sunflower chips (or any seeds) to clump together and MOLD/ROT....fast. If you live anywhere where the seeds will, even slightly warm, in the daytime.. and then cool in the evening, you will get enough condensation in the airless tube area to rot all your seeds. In an effort to prevent squirrels from being able to grip the feeder, they made this an airless, clear poly tube seed holder... BAD DESIGN.... and they obviously didn't test it much or they would have been aware of the issue created by the condensation. Just spent time, drilling hundreds of very small holes in the tube.. hoping to create enough air flow to prevent wasting any more seed. Unless the condensation is stopped, you will loose all your expensive seed to rot and this feeder will be useless. Of course this creates the need and additional expense of buying a large feeder cover, to prevent driving rain from entering the tube.... we'll see. Regardless, with this feeder you also have the additional, EXPENSE of replacing the "ports".... this feeder is NOT WORTH IT.... the modifications, covers and replacement ports make it VERY expensive... keep looking.. Possibly, here in Alaska, once deep winter sets in and the days and nights are well below freezing, it will be ok till warmer weather returns. Not much chance of the feeder warming up in the middle of winter. But, a squirrel proof feeder isn't needed then as they mostly hibernate. I need it NOW..... and it's useless... keep this in mind. Again, cannot recommend with the ongoing expenses of port replacement... and design condensation flaws. `

Not exactly squirrel proof
I've had this feeder for about a year now so I can comment on how well it worked for me and add some suggestions based on my experience. I bought this feeder because of it's large capacity and supposedly squirrel resistant design. Designing a squirrel proof feeder is certainly a difficult endeavor as these animals are generally smarter than we are! The squirrels in my yard figured it out pretty quickly. They would jump from the tree it was hung on and would wrap their body around it. It was hard to tell but it seems they gnawed away the plastic around the holes / ports to make it easier to shake the seeds out to the ground. With those holes enlarged it caused it to drop so much seed I needed to replace this feeder with something else that had a catch pan at the bottom. My suggestions on a bird feeder where there are lots of squirrel activity are as follows: - Use a feeder that has a catch pan at the bottom to prevent seed loss from wind or bird activity due to movement and vibration. Seed is expensive. - Place a squirrel baffle / witches hat over the feeder to protect against attack from above. Spend more on the baffle than the feeder. - Hang it with small diameter wire or wire rope - Position the feeder bottom at least 6 feet above ground and 6 feet away from the pole or tree limb on which it is placed. The above steps have seemed to solve my squirrel raiding and seed loss problem - at least for now... If I had originally hung it with these clearances in mind and used an overhead baffle I probably would have made out much better with the original purchase.

Laugh at the squirrels attempts!! ๐
See a lot of reviews on this that arenโt so favorable however, I went through five different birdfeeders and then found this one and itโs a very good birdfeeder. The only flaw is the feeder ports deteriorate to nothing in about eight or nine months and then you start spilling birdseed out of the ports when you refill it and the bird start pecking at it. You can see it falling to the ground. The ports are $11 to buy four new ones to replace so overall thatโs not too bad every eight months to a year spending $11 to replace those ports, I laughed, watching the squirrels try to get at the seed and were unsuccessful and they finally gave up and eat the seed that falls below it from the birds, pecking and engorging and wasting some of the food, but they eat most of it. One of the benefits is I have a few huge sunflowers growing in my garden now ha ha good birdfeeder the top does not keep the seed completely dry if itโs windy, rainy but they still eat it and when it gets empty every few times I will take it and dump the residual seed from the very bottom which they canโt get at kind of a poor design where the base should have a little plastic insert that raises the floor up to where the ports are so you donโt have an inch of wasted seed that gets old and stale. Other than that, itโs the best birdfeeder I have found and the squirrels get super frustrated because they absolutely cannot access the seed where some of these designs that are similar have a range shield lower, where the squirrels can grab onto and hang upside down and eat the seed not this one this is the best design and worth the money

So far so good!
I do not want to jinx it, but it's been 3 days since putting it out... and not a single squirrel on it. This is the 5th type of 'squirrel-proof' feeder I've tried in the past few weeks. There has been a new batch of clever squirrel youngsters hanging around my feeders this Spring. 6 at any given time. They must be too lite to push down the springs on the others. As they hung upside down and emptied the feeders every day. But, with this one...it must be too big around, or too slippery for them to hang on. Yay!! The birds took to it pretty quickly. Cardinals are a bit big for it though. I also have a suet feeder for them though. I will wait a few more days, and IF still no squirrels empty out this feeder, I'll definitely be ordering another! Highly recommend. 10 stars!!

La mangeoire est vraiment efficace contre les รฉcureuils: dรจs les premiers jours, nous avons vu un รฉcureuil tenter sa chance, de toutes les maniรจres possibles mais sans succรจs. A lot of the seed is lost when birds are feeding
It's a lovely feeder, but a lot of the seed spills out on the ground when the birds are feeding

squirrelmproof!
it is perfect. No squirrels have been able to access the contents. It holds a large amount of seeds; I use it for sunflower seeds. It works as well as my squirrel buster plus feeder, and cost almost a third of it. Also an added plus, the seeds do not flow out all over the place but stay in the feeder for the birds. I'm extremely pleased on all counts and definitely recommend this model. Thank you.
