There was a missing piece, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Finally, I came across this set which includes that piece: a dragon. The set includes four dragons and four additional pawns, as well as, expanding the size of the board from 64 squares to 100. IMO, this greatly increases the complexity and coolness of the chess realm.Whilst the manufacturer's recommendation for the dragon, that the piece can only move up to three squares in any direction, may seem somewhat limiting, you are free to invent and experiment with your own rules. For instance, the dragon could have the combined powers of both the queen + the knight. ( A piece with these powers is not unknown in the long history of European chess, but has seemingly been forgotten in modern times, until now.) This would create a truly ferocious piece, but it would still be a fair game as both sides have two dragons.The chessmen are slightly smaller versions of the highly detailed and authentic looking Medieval/ Renaissance Lowe chessmen. The regal king and queen, the serene bishop, the gallant knight on his horse, the powerful rook, and vigilant foot soldiers are all brought to life by the wonderful artistry on these pieces. The dragon piece is appropriately large and fierce looking and blends well with the usual array of chessmen. The board is sturdy, durable, glossy, and looks great.I had to drop a good penny for this set, but it was worth it due to its uniqueness and rareness. As of the date of this review, its currently out of production. If you can find one, I highly recommend it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent *by Q***H on Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2013* A fantastic reproduction of the old Lowe chess pieces, with the addition of the dragons.....and the new type board....ok, and the new rules. I have yet to play it. It was more of a novelty purchase.
