FABLED FUNK! • First release of 3-LP set as envisioned by James Brown • Includes deluxe jacket with rare photos and liner notes by Alan Leeds • Mastered from Brown’s 1971 mixdown reels, unused until now. James Brown’s magnum opus! Love Power Peace is the sound of the Godfather and his youngblood J.B.’s (including Bootsy and Catfish Collins) electrifying a crazed Parisian audience on March 8, 1971. Sequenced and mixed by Brown himself for a planned triple album, the set was shelved when key band members departed before it could be issued. Here, for the first time, are the sides as intended, exactly as delivered by James Brown Productions to his label in 1971—a 3-LP set with each disc mastered from the original mixdown reels, and each with a unique name, Love, Power and Peace! Brown and band rip through recent singles like “Sex Machine,” “Super Bad,” “Give It Up or Turnit a Loose” and “Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved” with a metronomic precision laid down by bassist Bootsy Collins and drummer Jabo Starks. “Ain’t It Funky Now” — formerly a slow, simmering groove — is transformed into a fast, funky tour de force in which newbie Catfish Collins unleashes one of the most badass guitar solos ever, while a medley of three other Brown standards (“Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag”/“I Got You (I Feel Good)”/“I Got the Feelin’ ”) blazes by faster than the Godfather of Soul’s personal Learjet. Interspersed with just the right amount of slow numbers like “Georgia on My Mind,” and including tracks from the show’s supporting acts that were not included on the 1992 CD (which was a remixed, incomplete show), this document of the funk revolution features rare photos and liner notes by tour director Alan Leeds. The way to jump on board for a trip through James’ world at the height of his career! Review: l bought the cd version when it was release in the early 90's and I was very pleased with it - I've been waiting for the release for a while and I finally have it. l bought the cd version when it was release in the early 90's and I was very pleased with it. The only live album with the original JB's. Had to have it. Bootsy, Catfish and the rest of the boys were on fire on "Ain't It Funky Now". Even though it is quite similar to the Revolution Of The Mind album, it is as funky. Fast forward some 20 years later. This albums re-release on vinyl and triple vinyl at that, had to have it. Highlights for me were the extended intro from Bobby Byrd and "There Was A Time". The extra tracks by Vicki Anderson and Bobby Byrd makes it even better. The vinyl only release makes it a collectors item. Me being a die hard vinyl collector. "GREAT ALBUM" Review: Classic - So glad to get something (slightly) new from James' catalog. Releases have stopped since his death and he is the most under-represented (on disc) I've ever seen in his caliber. Classic albums are instead becoming burn on demand as his estate remains under contention. So sad.. If we changed his name to Miles Davis, then maybe we could hear every note he ever recorded. Odd that this is vinyl only, but I believe it has to do with BS litigation and so we remain deprived of many treasures. Get it together Brown Estate... Give the people what they want.....

"James Brown's Live LOVE POWER PEACE Is A Funky Stone Classic......"
Recorded on the cusp of James Brown's switch from longtime label King Records to multi-national Polydor, and shortly before the original version of The J.B.'s heard here imploded, LOVE POWER PEACE, recorded March 8, 1971 at the famed L'Olympia in Paris, France was a legendary and oft bootlegged concert until given a legitimate release by Polydor in 1992 , remixed from the original tapes. It was also considered to be the only live document of the Collins Brother's version of The J.B.'s until the dawn of YouTube (search Bologna, Italy, April 1971)...... Until March 1970, Brown's backing group had been known as The James Brown Band. In early 1970, most of the band, including Jimmy Nolen, Melvin & Maceo Parker, "Sweet" Charles Sherrell, Joseph Davis and Richard "Kush" Griffith, walked out on Brown over a pay dispute, one of many during James' career. With recording and performance contracts to fulfill, Brown and his management quickly regrouped. Joining holdovers St. Clair Pickney & Fred Wesley were former members John "Jabo" Starks & ex-Famous Flame Bobby Byrd, trumpeters Darryl Jamison & Clayton Gunnells and most importantly brothers Phelps "Catfish" & William "Bootsy" Collins on guitar and bass respectively, from local Cincinnati group The Pacemakers. As a side note, The Pacemaker's lead singer had been Philippe Wynne, later of THE SPINNERS and various George Clinton productions. Although "The Original" J,B.'s would only last eleven months, they recorded a surfeit of James Brown funk classics such as ""Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine", "Super Bad", "Soul Power" and "Talkin' Loud And Sayin' Nothing" to name a few! They also appeared on some singles under The J.B.'s moniker such as "The Grunt." Needless to say, LOVE POWER PEACE is a stone funk classic and a must for anyone who wants to hear the power of the Collins Brothers lineup in action. Soon afterward the band mutinied over money again, and the Collins jumped over to George Clinton 's mothership PARLIAMENT which "Bootsy" used as a springboard to a successful solo career of his own . James Brown had originally planned to release LOVE POWER PEACE as a triple-album set, but gave up the idea after the Original J.B's left for greener pastures. In 2015 Sundazed Records in conjunction with Universal/Polydor finally released the album on vinyl (Sundazed LP-5470) as James intended, utilizing the original mix . I wouldn't wait too long to pick up this Limited Edition 3LP set which also contains tracks not on the CD issue, including solo performances by Bobby Byrd and Vicki Anderson...... Great music, but...
This is a fantastic live show with amazing music. But... for some reason they put this together on vinyl in a very out of date manner, where the second side of disc one is actually side 6, and all of the sides don't flow correctly so that it could work in an old record changer machine... which 99% of modern buyers probably don't have. As this was newly created album from a shelved project, I disagree with the way they put this together. I rarely listen to it despite the great music simply because it's a major chore jumping from disc to disc and then back to another disc. If you own all his other great live stuff from this period than it's worth it, otherwise go with one of the Apollo albums.

Love Power Peace Live At The Olympia Paris 1971(ジャケットは2種類あります) の当初予定されていた完全版?の3LP(アナログ)です。 内容に関してはほぼCDでいいところは抽出されていますが、ボビー・バードや、女性シンガーの歌も入り、 ショーの全体像がわかるという意味では素晴らしい再発です。プレスの質も良好でした。

Un grand James Brown en live. De la grande periode. Debut des annees 70. Enregistré a l'Olympia a Paris. Get up and Sex Machine.
