I recently purchased the Philips Hue Smart 40W B39 Candle-Shaped LED Bulb and am thoroughly impressed with its performance and versatility. These are simply the best smart bulbs I could find on the market right now. They’re so good I even relented and bought a Hue hub, which I’m normally loath to do. Having to buy some proprietary dongle to solve a problem that doesn’t exist is always a bad look, but it works so well that I have to forgive Philips. I’m in. Being able to connect to Apple Home is key. Speaking light into the world is satisfying, but the ease of use is the real reason to buy a ticket to the show. It just works and requires no special understanding of technology. It’s as streamlined a process as I’ve found. These also have the added benefit of being bright. Half of the bulbs I tried, including GE Cync, were dull and dark and uninspired. The Hue bulbs are bright af and produce a really rich color. I love them. They’re stupid expensive for lightbulbs. But, if you think of them as a thing that you need to work every time then the cost falls away and you’re left with a thing that just works.

I only bought one so far but I def plan on getting more. I love this light bulb! It works great. I simply screwed it in, downloaded the app, connected to it through Bluetooth, and tadaaa. The app is easy to navigate and I love that you can choose and colors with the RGB hue settings. Granted, the lightbulb is very expensive. Probably the most I’ve ever paid for a lightbulb. But it’s damn worth it. It’s so freaking cute. If you’re thinking about it, just do it. You’ll love it. I never turn off my light switch. I leave it on and just completely control the bulb through the app. Turning it off and on and changing the color how I see fit. It’s great. I’ve never had any issues with connectivity.

These Philips Hue candle-shaped bulbs are exactly what I was looking for. The fixtures in my ceiling fan are candelabra style, and I’m glad these are available in this form factor. While the wattage could be higher, the light quality is clean and consistent with no flicker. Setup with the Hue system was fast and effortless, and the bulbs connected immediately to my bridge through the Philips Hue app. After setup, they are also easy to configure and control through the iOS Home app.

Hue bulbs continue to outperform and outlast any other smart light products I have used. They integrate decently with HomeKit, but the Hue app excels. Most of my other bulbs have lasted over a decade, so they lack the newest functions like simulated candlelight and other dynamic settings. Given how well the older products are still supported, I am not concerned that function will be diminished with time. Though the initial price is hard to stomach, the joy and ease of use make this such an easy purchase.

Solid product. Only criticism is that it really should be shorter. So far everywhere I’ve used them they are slightly too tall.

Worked perfectly for an IKEA lamp requiring 3 bulbs! Shortly after installing I did notice 1 bulb was slightly off in color compared to the other bulbs. I was able to reach out to Philips for a support claim and they made it super easy by providing troubleshooting steps and even when those did not solve the issue I simply provided my receipt as proof of purchase and they quickly sent a replacement. Ever since all bulbs are perfectly matched with amazing brightness and options to customize using the Hue app with a variety of scenes. Setup on app and connecting with Alexa was a breeze

Philips Hue yet again demonstrates why they are THE premium smart lighting option. The speed, color consistency, and functionality is honestly still unmatched, and like all LED lights from Philips, they are extremely energy efficient. These smaller bulbs, while necessary for some fixtures, are notably hotter than the larger ones however, and I would take care not to place them in fully enclosed fixtures. As usual, the Philips Hue ecosystem is an absolute breeze to work with. Installation is guided, easy, and I've never had issues. Connectivity can range, based on YOUR preference from and exclusively local network, to fully internet controlled via Philip's own servers.

They are expensive as hell. A bit of a pain to set up (have to walk to my basement, press a button, wait for it to fail and find my new lights, go upstairs, then add it by serial number for some reason? Every time.) But once they work, they integrate so well and are so easy to use either through the app, through control center, or through siri, it really is a no brainer in my opinion. Also I ripped it apart and stuffed the guts in a salt lamp and it worked fine! :)

For the last 4 months, I have been using this 4 pack of generic E12 bulbs for my ceiling fan. Each bulb didn't even last ONE MONTH before burning out! Good thing they were only 5 bucks, but that's not the point. The main reason I bought those cheap ones was because I didn't know which socket my fan used and I didn't want to spend the money for a Hue bulb that didn't fit. So when I realized E12 was the correct socket, I knew I needed to buy one of these as soon as possible. I'd say the wait was rough, but as I said, the cheap kind didn't last long. I've been using the Hue bulb for a month now and it's fantastic! There's no sign of burning out and it's just as bright as ever. The ability to dim the lights is nice and it's perfect for when you get up in the middle of the night and don't want to hurt your eyes, but the fact that it can change colour is AWESOME! Some days, you just want the lights to be green, y'know? The fan is right next to my computer, so I use Hue Sync when I watch movies or play games on it, which is so fun to do. There is nothing cooler than watching a movie, then suddenly, everything goes dark. It really helps with immersion. These lights do small things, but they add a lot when used right. Get one as soon as you can.
