Q: It works for asus q405u 14 inches?

My Laptop is 13.2 inches. Fits nicely but snuggly Really don't think a 14 inch would fit. But case is Great!!!

Q: I have a lenovo 14" thinkpad. the dimensions of the laptop are 12.5" x 9" x .70 would the 13-14" case work with that size or do i have to size up?

That will depend on how much you plan on stuffing in the pockets. The pockets do not have a whole lot of give if the computer fits tight inside. I went with the Size of the computer so my kids can't stuff more than the charger and headphones in the pockets.
