I loved this book when I was a teen, so I decided to buy it for my 12 yr old. Definitely recommend it to any child 11/12+… great book to read over and over throughout the years as they get older . I also bought the little workbook to go with it. Only $5 more!!

Well…the fact that it is a mini edition was not noticed when I ordered 😂 Feels a little pricey due to size (definitely wouldn’t have purchased has I known) but my teen thinks it is funny, so perhaps he will be eager to read it as a mini version.

I was expecting a regular sized book, but what we got was something that came out of a Happy Meal!😂 It was good for a laugh though!! I must have missed the description that said mini!

My teenager was oh so excited to start the 7 Habbits of Highly Effective Teens - so, we all can just imagine the look on her face when I whip these out on our 30 minute commute to school! And a brand new shiny card, one for every week of the whole year! She will be beyond words with excitement, no doubt about it!Yesterday, after discussing how we would be working on the (book & workbook) program daily, my gracious teen being respectful of my time, suggested that we just keep it to the weekends. (Of course that was after the, ahem, discussion about not wanting to waste my time at all and maybe I would prefer reading Harry Potter with her instead.)So - I happened upon these cards, while searching for some kind of motivational filler, to my good fortune! And placed my order - yesterday.We (as she also graciously suggested that I improve my habits as well) are already making progress!!!! Habit #5 Seek First to Understand, Then To Be Understood (listen to people sincerely)See - I listened to her, and we will only use the books on weekends, without losing momentum - by using these awesome cards in between on the week days! weeeeee!I can hardly wait till our happy morning drive!btw - the main thing that motivated me to write this review, was because of all the recent bad reviews of poorly printed cards.I took a chance, knowing what the odds were, and that it’s no big deal to return.They arrived perfectly - and are a very high quality set as well.

Originally, it was intended as a gift for a young niece. I found this read enjoyable & feel the messages provide enrichment to any age group. I’ve now sent another copy to a young adult.I did add notes to some pages:- When discussing dieting and exercise I wrote in that the purpose of diet and exercise is healthy eating and lifestyle rather than appearance.- Another reviewer shared that an anecdote about racism is, perhaps, outdated. I realize that this is a sensitive subject, especially with current events, that has many different perspectives. This is a reason that this anecdote is relevant and a good opening to essential discussion. Here, I wrote in:Social injustices exist. Oppression is currently happening. Discrimination is real and grievances are valid. People are free to communicate about these experiences and should be able to do so safely. For those who choose to create positive change: • Listen without judgment • Try to understand the struggles of others • Be aware that some people may be suffering The point of this passage is the idea that, “I don’t like being discriminated against, so now I get act like a discriminator,” does not show good character and hinders social and personal growth rather than aids progression.Again, this is my opinion pertaining to this particular passage. You are entitled to disagree. I’m simply suggesting that you may write in your own thoughts expanding on this subject and have a healthy discussion.- Before a few paragraphs discussing overcoming sexual abuse I wrote in: * Sensitive Subject Please prepare mentally before proceeding to read about the topic of sexual abuse. Be aware of how this may affect you.The messages and activities in this book will add to a solid foundation for anyone.

If your debating, even a little, on getting this book for yourself and/or someone else you care about?… DO IT! This book has the ability to not only change the readers life but also the people around him/her. Here’s how I was introduced… My older sister bought me this book 24 years ago when I was 14. Life was confusing and very tough as a teenager. I desperately needed guidance. My sister knew it all too well. I wasn’t into reading at that time but when I read the poem at the beginning, I was immediately hooked. Let me tell you, this book brought me so much more than I ever expected!! I actually started to face life with fortitude for once. It gave me clarity, perspective and gave me the confidence I needed to take control over my life. I couldn’t of been more thankful. The most amazing part is what I learned in that book still applies to me as much as an adult as it did being a kid. I loved that book and felt it had so much to give I followed my sisters steps and passed it on to a loved one who I felt needed it. Over the last 24 years I’ve given away roughly 7 copies, each in a different period in my life. I’ve even given a few to adults! As I said, this book applies to ALL ages. Out of any item I’ve ever reviewed, this one I recommend the most!

The delivery was poor left out in the rain book had to be dried with tissues inbetween each page for about 70 pages - hard book to get around if you have a short attention span, haven’t managed to read much

The book was so tiny, but it is easy to carry anywhere in your bag.Because of the size, it made me finish reading only in one hour!I have never finished a book in an hour before in my life and inspired me to read more books 😊
