It rusted and was not properly coated with the ceramic finish.

The tabs on the top and bottom are 7 7/8’a inches. I say too and bottom because the need to identify where the tabs would be found if you were standing in the front of the one side of the grill.

Q: I gave a standard weber kettle with 22.5 diameter that this says it will fit. How can that be if the item has only 11.8 diameter?

Its an insert for the GBS. You have to have the 22 inch weber grill grate with the removable 12 inch insert in the middle, called the Weber Gourmet Barbeque System. you take the 12 inch insert out and replace it with this thing for searing.
