The same size you would find on Children's clothing. The female snap parts were tricky for me to figure out which way to put them in the tool. I tried both ways a few times and it just didn't work. Then I finally figured it out and it has worked every time since then. You just have to remember to put plenty of pressure when applying the snaps, especially on the female side so that you don't have them bill out when you unsnap them. It just takes a little practice and pressure!
