Beautiful addition to my daughter's kitchen
I was given my Dad's carving fork after we cleared out his house. I don't use it often but when I do, it's just perfect for the job and I feel very safe carving with the safety "prong" in place. So I bought this one for my daughter. The quality of this one is excellent - not sure if it will last 50 or more years, but I'll let you know!

This will protect you
Carving forks can be every bit as dangerous as carving knives as anyone who works in Accident & Emergency will tell you. This carving fork has a feature that I think they all should have - a flip-up guard so that if the knife slips whilst cutting meat, it is deflected OVER your hand, not INTO it. It's sturdy and easy to hold. Because the guard will flip down again, it will still easily fit in the dishwasher cutlery rack. I've looked for one like this in dozens of stores and in several places online - Amazon to the rescue! (Amazingly, they'd ship me this in Australia but not a pair of shoes)

Carving fork The best
We have been using vintage shefield forks for over 20 years. They are smaller about 9 inch's. We use for all cooking. This is larger about 11 inch's long, appears for large roasts. It is really made well, the finger guard is nice but the actual shape of the fork's 2 points is what makes them so great. We love them. This an exceptional fork can't wait to carve a prime rib with it! UPDATE 10-4-2012, Used for the first time Grilling Beef Serloin Steaks, This fork worked really well, beyond my expectations! I am so happy I purchased it. Will not be using any other fork from now on!

Terrific carving fork
Really love this fork - too bad American carving sets don't have forks like this. I highly recommend it - the metal piece that is hinged is to stop the knife slipping and cutting your hand. Finally we had a decent carving fork for our Christmas turkey. Would make a great present for the man who has everything! I hope the manufacturer teams up with leading knife manufacturers and sells the forks as OEM products to a wide variety of brands - it is really hard to find a good fork like this.

Nice carving fork
Great quality, heavy duty and comfortable. I bought this as a way to remove larger cuts of meat from my Kamado grill, which it worked great for but it worked it's way into house for kitchen and dining room duties also.
