- Captain Men's Lace-up Boot

This boot was beyond my expectation. Out of the box, it screams quality and you can smell it. The comfort of this boot was better than any other I have tried. The Leather is soft and smelled so good, like a genuine leather product should. What set the boot apart is the the comfort and support of the insole. Most boots I’ve tried that had this type of design felt flat, unsupportive and offered little in the way of shock absorption. These offered moderate arch support and a reasonable amount of comfort without feeling like I was walking barefoot. We’re not talking orthotic shoe level comfort and support but above and beyond any boot I’ve tried. The dark olive color was superb. It’s such a versatile color, I feel like I would be hard pressed to find an outfit it didn’t look good with. It looked great with black jeans and just as well with light washed denim, olive and khaki chinos. It’s was the perfect medium between a black and a brown boot. This is definitely a recommended boot!

Purchased these in brown, 11M. The brown color of this boot also appears burgundy, something I'm not exactly excited about, but oh well. These boots in the brown leather requires a break-in period. I estimate from about 1 to 2 weeks. I wore these about the house to break them in. The tongue of the boot gave me the most problems initially because the sort of dun into my shins on both legs (day 1 only.) Now I have to adjust the tongue every so often because they tend to slide towards my small toe on both feet. The craftsmanship of the boot is very good, while the materials themselves are good. The Thursday Boot Company has some sizing issues that they need to sort out internally. It is recommended that customers purchase a 1/2 smaller than their sneaker size. Hhhhmmmm, confusing. Nike fit narrow; Asics fit true to size; Fila run a whole size smaller; etc. I purchased my normal shoe size, and the issue is in the boots sizing themselves. I also own the Thursday President in 11M, black and the sizing is correct with a good snug fit. My Thursday Captain Boots are correct length wise, but off width wise. The Captain and President are essentially the same boot built on the same platform, with the President having a plain toe. My suggestion, try before you buy; and DO NOT crease the boots during your try on period. The foot bed is NOT removable, but if they came with removable inserts, I would be able to make this boot sneaker like comfortable. I wish the foot beds were removable. The supplied and permanent footbed is adequate, and I am sure that they will form more to my feet as time passes. There is a lot of hype surrounding these boots. Hype is just someone else's opinion. I consider these to be a good mid-level entry boot based on pricing, quality and construction. The best boots are the boots you can a. afford, and b. enjoy, like or love. Are these good boots for the money? I would have to say yes! Are they comfortable? I would have to say yes, but they are NOT my most comfortable boots, or necessarily my main go to boot. They are a pair of boots that have been added to my rotation, and they will get used based on me and my outfits. They will be a boot that I wear all year round in my rotation. Personally, I like and enjoy my President's more. The President also weighs a little less because of the outer soles. Based my personal opinion and concerns surrounding the boot, I gave it 4 stars. I would recommend this boot to those looking for a boot in this price range or higher. Overall, I like the boot.

I read the reviews always starting with negative. Well when I received them the smelld very strong of leather. Made the entire house smell. The wife and I loved it. Fit great I got a little bigger than needed cause I have wide feet and fit like a dream. Very comfortable. The only thing I didn't like and I couldn't give it 5 stars is because the Insoles and arch support is literally non existent. I wish I could take theirs out and put mine in but couldn't. I tried putting mine in but made them super tight. I'm going to try and find some memory foam insoles to put in but. I love the look. But seems like they were made for flat feet. I will do another review about 6 months from now. When I get insoles that will fit and a wear test.

9.5 wides I have an exceptionally wide flat foot.Thursday's always have excellent quality boots, great price great build, great style, an all around great boot.As always with real leather boots you need to go down either a 1/2 size to a full size smaller than your average shoe size -( I wear 10wides/ 9.5extrawides) unfortunately Thursday's doesn't have extra wides for online purchases yet - so I bought 9.5wides the heal gives you extra height, the Kevlar laces have that feel of durability and quality you'd expect.Break in period is about 20-40hrs of wearing time per usual.These boots are so great the only reason I keep buy new ones is to replace the ones my little brother keeps stealing from me.Yes I ride choppersYes I am rough with the bootsYes I wear them for classy eventsOnly con is the wide variety doesn't have the sole that I like.... so I have to buy another pair

Tobacco color - size 8Came with an ugly rough spot on the left boot that won't come out. Otherwise stylish and seem nice.Tried to get a replacement through Amazon but this version is no longer on prime so not sure what to do.Edit: Updating my review to 5 stars now that I've received a replacement from Thursday. I think that the quality control might be an Amazon issue vs a Thursday Boot issue. In my comparison, the boots I received direct from Thursday on the left almost look like a completely different boot. The ones received from Amazon via Prime on the right almost look heavily worn and have several scuffs.

Some info before I start the review:Adidas size 10Carhartt Workboots size 10 (Non Goodyear Welt)I went half a size down as recommended and they fit perfectly! I normally wear thicker gold toe socks and they fit like a glove with thicker socks. Hope this helps anybody questioning the sizing!That being said, these are beautiful, high quality, well made boots. The packaging they arrived in was your normal shoe box, however, Thursday went above the standard and individually wrapped each boot to prevent scuffing inside the box. Excellent boots. Will be buying from Thursday again in the future.

I saw Thursday sponsored ads on my Instagram approximately one year ago. The boots looked beautiful and with the cold weather, I decided to order a pair of brown leather captains. Thursday might market these boots as a “cheaper” alternative to similar quality boots, but at the end of the day 250$ CAD + tax definitely isn’t cheap.I was very excited to get the boots, however things have gone downhill, one I received the boots it was obvious that they either have no quality control or they simply do not care to sell imperfect products. There were deep scratches in the leather and there was some discoloration on the top part of the boot.I was able to look past these imperfections because the boot itself really is beautiful and the leather does have a nice feel to it.The problem was with the comfort of wearing them, I believe that my pair must be defective because there is very sharp protrusion in the heel of the boot, as I walk it literally digs into my heel. I’m not a person who complains about slight discomfort, but let me tell you this was extremely painful.I reached out to Thursday to resolve this, and unfortunately the customer service is terrible. I dealt with a customer service rep by the name of Jessica, who has strung me along for 2 weeks now without ever offering any reasonable solutions. Her latest response was to tell me to ship the boots out to them at MY EXPENSE in order to receive an exchange.Forget about the courtesy of at the very least sending me a prepaid return shipping label after I wore defective boots for 3 weeks…. I have to pay out of my pocket to ship out these boots to correct their mistake…ridiculous! Zero customer service, zero care about customer satisfaction.Thursday claims to be a cheaper alternative, let me tell you I know realize that you guys have perfectly described your product, a cheap product with no quality control and no care in the world for you customers.A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and in the case of Thursday their lack of quality control and customer service make their product one that I recommend you stay away from.Buyer beware.

Lets be clear, these are not your average high street boots, they premium quality American boots (although hand made in Mexico). Its quite difficult to find premium boots in the UK, your only choice is Red Wings (if you can find them anywhere other than their London shop or online), the Thursday boots offer similar levels of build quality at a much lower price, plus i think a more modern design. Plus you can buy them from Amazon with free returns (which you can't on their website). The leather is thick and the smell is amazing out of the box, they look and feel premium. I did however have size issues, ended up ordering and returning 2 pairs before i found the right size. I'm usually an 8 and ended up with an entire size up, after the 8 then the 8.5 were just too small. Delivery was quick, but returns can take a while. Highly recommended if you are after premium boots, just on another level compared to high street boots.

I bought the shoes and went half a size down from the sneaker size I normally wear. The boots are OK but I think I could have even gone down a full size! However, the shoes are extremely comfortable and break in time is very short (take about 10 minutes to loosen up, my first walk was 2hrs long and no foot pain)The materials are good, however the quality control could have been much better! some stitches are a bit loose, and one very annoying thing is that the sole of the left shoe is different compared to the sole on the right shoe, therefore the shoes are asymmetric and the left shoe is much higher than the right shoe. This is dissapointing and therefore I only give these shoes 3 stars. If this problem didn't exist I would definitely score the shoes a 5 star rating...

UPDATE: After one month of wear these things are FINALLY broken in. In order to stop the slipping I had to put in a pair of cloth insoles. They're still not great but at least they don't kill my feet as much, although I still wouldn't want to wear these things for an extended period. All my other criticisms still stand.Keep in mind this review is from ONE DAY of wear at a quiet indoor wedding party. I was hoping these boots would be decent value for the money but having owned boots from other manufacturers around this price, I'm disappointed.DESIGN: Probably the only thing I like about this boot. Heritage work boot style but nice and dressy. Can be dressed up or down.SIZING: I wear a size 10 in all athletic shoes and a 9.5 in every other boot I own. I have a very standard foot size. I ordered a 9.5 d(m) and it fits rather awkwardly. The top of the boot laces shut completely with extra room around the ankle. I had to wait a day for the leather to wear in enough to actually tighten the laces around the foot itself and it will certainly create some weird crease lines on the leather. The fact that the lining material instead of being soft is in fact very slippery makes the sizing even worse as my foots doesn't stay in place and the boot therefore feels even larger. I would have sized down to a 9 but while everything else was slightly too large the length fit my foot perfectly.MATERIAL: Let's start with colour. Initially these boots seemed very dark but with a day of wear I can see that with some stress on the leather it will lighten in places but the leather itself is not nice. The leather wrinkles like a cheap, papery leather. The leather is poorer in quality compared to other boots I own at a similar price. Scuffing is a big problem. After a day of wear and not contacting anything roughly the boots picked up several scratches and scuffs. I've tried my usual methods of hiding them which work on my other chrome tanned leathers but to no avail. The scuffs remain and the scratches are only partially hidden by colouring them with shoe cream. The exposed leather will not absorb enough colour to look like the rest of the boot. In addition the exposed backs of the speed hooks are scratching the tongue of the boot very badly. I will wax polish these but given how easily the leather scuffs and scratches it's going to SUCK to maintain these boots.CONSTRUCTION: Construction seemed okay out of the box but well below what it should have been. Like one other reviewer my sole had a small crack in it. The stitching of the goodyear welt was not great and left a few gaping holes in the leather. This will collect moisture and lead to the stitching dying MUCH sooner than it should. I may try waxing the holes and the welting thread to keep moisture out but I don't hold out much hope. Also while I was recolouring the scratches I noticed that the exposed edges of the leather weren't coloured in a few places.Again, this is ONE DAY of wear to an indoor wedding party. I wanted to love these because I really do like the design even over Wolverines, Red Wings, and other boots in a similar style, but these really let me down.

These feel and look like really nice quality boots, however the advice to buy 1/2 size smaller is strange. I take a UK10 and I followed my instinct and ordered the correct size, tried the boots on and they were tight across the foot at the base of the tongue, and also depth between the base of my foot to the area behind my toes. I have returned these Captains and couldn't get the size larger in Captains but also liked the looks of the President which I have ordered because they do look and feel nice boots. The UK 11 in Presidents were too big unfortunately, so these also had to be returned.I have now got a UK 10.5 on my feet in the captain, these feel snug and I am sure that these will be the right boot size for me, which again makes the go down 1/2 a size strange, I've had to go up 1/2. I'm going to wear them in the house for a few days before the ultimate decision as to keeping them which I do hope I do, if not then that'll be an end to this make of boot for me. I'll update in a few days, but must say I do like these boots aesthetically and the way they look to be built well (fingers crossed).
