Delkin Devices 128GB Power CFexpress Type B Memory Card (DCFX1-128)

I needed one more CFexpress card for my Canon EOS 1D X Mark III as I like to have 4 available to use (2-in camera and 2 back-up/spare). While I have seen the Delkin name around, I've not used them before. After looking into the company and their products, I took the jump and ordered one. VERY glad I did! Well...... at first I was a little put-off. The description for this card shows the READ SPEED as 1730MB/s and the WRITE SPEED as 1540MB/s which is blazing fast. However, the card I received (see photo) shows the READ as 1600MB/s and the WRITE as 600MB/s. While the 1600MB/s isn't a deal killer on its own, the 600MB/s is. My Canon 1D X Mark III requires a card capable of VERY fast write speeds and the 600 would have killed the deal. Somewhat disappointed, I called DELKIN, and nearly immediately was speaking to a live human here in the US. I don't recall his name, but he was in Technical Service and was extremely helpful. He explained that the cards were in fact 1730/1540 however the labels were ordered with the error in speeds but still made their way to customers. Satisfied, I took the card and placed it in my camera and did a few test shots - all seemed fine. Then for my next photo assignment, I dual wrote to my 2 cards as a safeguard in case there was an issue with the Delkin (I would recommend this to anyone using either a new brand of card or on a new platform). The card performed flawlessly. On my next assignment, confident in the card and its capabilities, went to a single card write and the card again was bulletproof. As far as the speed? Well, I did a few 35-50 shot bursts with ZERO buffering (at 16fps - frames per second). That would have choked a 600MB/s card... Then I went full monty and shot a ~100 pic burst in Live View Mode which is 20fps and again had ZERO buffer. By the way - I ONLY shoot RAW and each RAW file is around 20MB so a 20frames/second on 600 MB card would choke up after 3-5 seconds and kill the buffer. I was never throttled nor did my buffer ever drop below 99... 99 is the default number for the buffer on this camera - but the "real number" is closer to 1,000 frames. All that to say - this is an exceptional piece of kit. Well made. Reliable. Affordable.

works well, speed of write and playback fast enough for me, only wish price was lower, but I erase and reuse. using in Canon r5 and use a Delkin reader as well.

Update September 2022 - I've been using this card for 18 months now. Got a new Z9 in January 2022 and have over 260,000 shots on it with this card on that body alone - combined with the roughly 150,000 on my Z7II - that's easily over 400,000 pics and still no issues with this card - love it. Update October 2021 - I used this card all spring/summer for baseball images - shot over 120,000 photos over 65 baseball games this summer and the card worked great for me on my Z7II - no issue at all at this point - very happy. original review: I recently bought this for my Nikon Z7 II camera - the 1 tb card allows for 11,300 RAW files (or 121,000 basic .jpg files!!) - so I never, ever worry about running out of memory. I typically shoot baseball photos and can easily shoot 4,000 RAW shots over the course of 4-5 hours. Files transfer very fast to my MacBook using the Sony XQD/CFE card reader.

This is the second one of these I’ve ordered. It’s a very fast card and has never let me down. Seems very reliable. I was surprised that I started noticing signs of wear on it after only a year and a half. But I’m an extremely active photographer/videographer so maybe that’s why. It’s been working fine but I’ve noticed my Canon red indicator light flashing every 10-20 seconds and when I researched it, someone suggested that the memory card was starting to fail. I went ahead and got a new one just to be safe and not risk losing my work. Also could have worn our faster than expected due to the amount of video I shoot as well. I’m still very happy with the card and will order them in the future.

Good value for fast CF-Express card that runs cool based on external reviews. Surprisingly, I ordered three of these and two have more capacity than rated (160 GB and 325 GB). But even at 128 GB these would be a good deal. I have had no problems shooting with these cards in a Nikon Z8 - I am able to reach 20fps until the buffer fills at around 81 frames, then shoot at 15 fps with a full buffer. In contrast, I have a different brand card that drops to 11 fps after the buffer is full at 60 frames, and gives overheating warnings when used in hot weather and high-volume shooting scenarios.

Cheaper than at other online stores and my local camera shop. Works well and is heavy-duty for my Lumix S1R Mirrorless Camera. Fast recording to memory card and has a lifetime guarantee for failure with 24-hour replacement.

I tried this card on a Nikon Z9 in slots 1 and 2 with 12-bit N-log/N Raw at 8.3k at 60p. It recorded for 20 seconds the first time before giving me the “recording interrupted” error. Then four seconds (probably pure camera buffer) on any subsequent attempt. It behaved the same in slot 1 and 2. I don’t believe the minimum or sustained write speed is as fast as claimed on the packaging. For kicks, I also tried recording to my 128 GB card (same manufacturer and series). It could only record two and a half minutes before being full. But, it actually recorded the full two and a half minutes without issues. So, I switched the frame rate to 30p. For this, it didn’t hit the buffer, but did give me a “hot card” warning after six minutes and fifty seconds. It was about 90°f and in sunlight (not hot enough in the sun for me to sweat if I’m not exerting myself). The Z9’s “hot card” warning is set to normal. The video recording filled the card (about 1 hr 18 mins) with the hot-card warning the entire time. The camera got noticeably warm on the card side. The sad thing about this is that I need a card this big in order to use 8k 60p. While I’m unlikely to record very long at once in a real-life scenario in my line of work, 8k 30p is a very realistic scenario. And hot cards equate to glitches in video, shorter card life, potential additional camera wear and tear, etc. I’m also likely to shoot 8k 60p for a couple of minutes at a time. I’m debating returning the card. But I’ll still need about the same storage space at around tue same price. Maybe I’ll switch to an external recording hard drive.

I purchased three of these cards for my Nikon Z6ii and Z9. I am extremely happy with their performance. They are very fast at reading and writing. I would strongly recommend this.

Great price and cracking product backed by a lifetime warranty. I did unfortunately receive a mis labelled product from what you can see in the attached photo, but after speaking with Delkin Support they assured me that it was just a labelling issue and that they can replace it but that it should perform at the rated 1730/1540 and work with 8k RAW from Canon R5. I went ahead and tested it in my Sandisk CF Express card reader connected to a usb-c 3.1 gen2 port and the following was returned using crystal disk mark - sequential read 1000~ write 930~ These were the max that is achievable using USB, so its hard to test the 1730/1540 without using a CF Express PCIe Reader, the speeds were a little faster than my 128GB Lexar CF Express which is rated at the same speed but within margin of error. I then proceeded to test in my Canon R5 and to my relief the card had no problems with buffering recording 8K Raw or taking Raw photos at 20fps. I called Delkin Support back to confirm that the card worked as they said it would, they still offered to replace the card as they couldn't guarantee that a replacement from Amazon wouldn't have the same label, I responded saying not to worry - its a label and it works as described. It's a shame that the issue has happened but it seems silly that some of the reviewers haven't gone ahead and tested it and just jumped straight to the conclusion that it as it reads 600 that it must be slower. Amazon must have a large amount of these floating around with the incorrect label, Delkin support provide a lifetime warranty and their UK support answers in less than a minute and are keen to help.
