Gel Polish Starter Kit with New Portable Light, 2 Ounce

The media could not be loaded. I was nervous about buying this kit. I was not sure if it would cure my nails, or be easy to use. First, understand that I am a tomboy and the coordination needed to paint nails, well....it is a stretch for me.When I got home from work, the kit was waiting for me and I could not wait to use it. I washed my hands, pushed back my cuticles, and shaped my nails. Then as per the directions, I gently filed the tops of my nails so the shiny top coat of my natural nail was gone.Then I followed the directions, cleaning my nails, applying the prep coat, and the base coat. Then I cured my nails for the first time. There is no timer on this light, and the toggle switch is a little hard to move with wet nails, but not so hard that I messed up my nails. It is do-able. I used my phone to time the cure. Then I continued to follow the directions, adding color, curing, adding color, and curing again. Then a top coat, and then a final quick cleaning. The last step was to revitalize my cuticles which is a coat that takes a few seconds.Again, I am not all that coordinated, but my nails look pretty good for a first try! I am very happy with the kit. It comes with everything you need to paint your nails red. I had purchased some other colors, so my first try was pink. My nails are shiny and very pretty.The overall quality of the kit seems good and I can see this saving time and money. I won't have to drive to the salon to get my nails done, wait my turn, and after getting a manicure, drive home. In the time it takes me to drive to the appointment and sit in the chair, I'm already done my home manicure. The entire process took less than 30 minutes and that includes having to read the directions as I went along.I only get my nails done about three times a year, but now that I have this kit I can see having pretty nails much more often!

I love this. I use it all the time. I can't use regular polish anymore now because the gel goes on so much nicer, lasts longer, and dries faster. The light works just fine and I actually liked the red color that came with the kit. It is quite a process when you do your own nails for the first time so be sure to have a couple of hours free. But once I got the hang of it it only takes me maybe around 45 mins. now. Which is fast considering it takes my regular polish about 6 hours to completely dry. I don't know why. Be sure to also get orange-wood sticks and the remover goes fast if you do your nails regularly. Also, the first time I used it I kept testing my nails after doing the light to see if they were dry. Your nails will not be dry after having them under the light. They will still be extremely tacky until you do the blue stuff at the very end, so don't touch your nails before that or you'll end up with dull spots.

Do not waste your money on this, the light does not dry the polish at all. I tried it the first time but I thought maybe I did something wrong. I tried it again following the instructions very carefully and after an hour of trying to dry the polish, I gave up and just applied regular quick dry top coat to it. I may just purchase a better light from another maker since I also purchased extra polish

I really want to give this five stars but just can't for two reasons...1. The kit indicated it would come with a red color gel polish and it didn't. Instead there was a very light pink (almost natural nail color) gel polish which was a disappointment because I was expecting red. I'm hoping the seller will be able to send me the red color, but who knows if that'll actually happen.2. The LED light isn't quite big enough to comfortably cure the nails and you have to do the thumbs separately. Yes, this is a total "I'm spoiled" type of outlook to the light, but since you have to kinda curl your middle and ring fingers back to get your nails lined up under the lamp so that the light can evenly hit the nails all at once and then do your thumbs separately I figured it is worth mentioning. I may eventually buy a bigger, better lamp in the future, but since this one does cure the coats I can deal with curling fingers and separate cure times for my thumbs.So if I'm not providing a picky review, then I love it, it came with everything needed to do the whole gel nail manicure and the manicure turns out pretty flawless without too much effort and lasts long. I haven't tried taking the polish off yet, so fingers crossed that the process goes as smoothly as the instructions lead you to believe it is! Ultimately, it's a decent starter kit especially if you're just starting to dabble with gel nail manicures like me.

The travel light takes FOREVER to cure. I would recommend getting the more advanced lighting as this one is very difficult to get all fingers under and takes a really long time to cure- almost 5 minutes with dark colors even though it says 3 min.! The pink that came with the kit was okay, but the color fades so quickly into a nude/grey/pinkish color. It does come with everything you need to have a nice manicure, but it's well worth it to pay a little more for a stronger light. (I have seen stronger light packages for the same price.) & will be buying a stronger light ASAP for this kit.

I purchased this kit a couple years ago and have continued to love it. There was a slight learning curve when painting your nails at home but that's in no part due to this set. The light has worked flawlessly for a couple of years and I still have the original red that came with the kit although I've expanded my collection considerably. I've purchased other polish brands and find Red Carpet to be one that lasts the longest. I get a full two weeks from this brand. The only downside to this light is you have to do your thumbs separately. There are some bigger lights out there where an entire hand can be cured at once. I've also painted my toes with gel polish and my whole foot fits fine in this light.If this review was helpful, please click "yes" below.
