Only electric one I found that has real heat!
I tried three different styles and type of heat pads before finding this one . This one is the only one that heats up to the point where I have to turn it off before I get burned. All the others I tried barely had heat, even the ones with there infrared technology deeper claims etc. Only downside to this is that you have to hold down the trigger while it’s on. I guess it’s probably a safety hazard so some people don’t fall asleep with it on and get burned. It basically only has one heat option , you hold down the trigger until it gets to the temp you want. This heats up fast anyways, a minute or two and this will get hot! You are the timer.

Finally!!!! A hot heating pad!!!
Growing up I always had a HOT heating pad. I have spent years trying to find one comparable and all fall short. Either too small, too fluffy/cushioned, not hot enough, etc. This heating pad is EXACTLY like the one I had as a kid that my mom got from her physical therapist. Truly a gem and a must have for anyone who has severe menstrual cramps, back pain, etc. it’s a great size too

Doesn’t stay hot unless you constantly hold the lever
I will say- this thing heats up FAST. It gets incredibly hot quickly which is great. However, it is NOT a timer, nor an “on/off” switch. It’s a ridiculously terrible design that I can’t believe I overlooked- the button is a manual lever that must be pushed and held to heat the pad. It must be released once you’ve reached your desired temp. This is a major design flaw, because you have to constantly click the lever and release it so that you don’t burn yourself, and it’s an endless cycle until you either get relief or give up. God forbid you want to sleep on the thing. It was a total waste of money considering you can get identical heating pads with an actual on/off timer control. The pad did come with a soft, removable cover for easy cleaning. The size we purchased was odd; it was long and narrow- making it great for a shoulder or neck, but not beneficial for large areas like back or stomach. Overall, I’m not impressed, and wish we wouldn’t have bought. We quickly purchased the same heat strength, but with timer control.

Hot effective heat, Not for babies
Great, big, and an effective use of moisture gathering and heat application for people with aches and pains seeking a heating pad that will become hotter than you need it to be at times. If you’re actually seeking a pad to simply warm you up, you may want to buy a cheaper pad with a heat setting switch. Those do not reach the same high temperatures, nor did the last one I bought get anywhere close to the max temps printed upon their manual. This has a pressure switch for safety as many people use these applied directly to their skin- this is done to bring the moisture gathering right along you skin to increase the pads ability to transfer heat to your body..

There is no on/off switch
This gets extremely hot. You have to hold down the switch for it to work. Don’t worry you do not have to hold it very long as it gets HOT quick. Other than wishing it had more than one setting I like it. I put a flex strap around it so I can let it heat up before I have to use it in the morning. It’s large and doesn’t get knotted up like the cheaper brands. It was like the one they use were I get Physical Therapy so that’s why I chose it.

Edited: Dying within 6 months
It is now only 6 months since purchase and this unit is dying. I still have an old Thermophore pad to compare against. And even that old thing heats up faster, spreads the heat more evenly, and gets hotter overall than this newer unit. I can measure the difference with a portable, IR thermometer. And I can measure the power being pulled from the wall outlet using my trusty Kill-A-Watt meter. Both pads are clearly shown rated at 200 watts. The old Thermophore pulls a continuous 175-180 watts in use while heating. Sadly, this 6-month-old is pulling only about 165 watts in the same conditions. I have emailed the seller/maker via two channels - including Amazon - regarding warranty replacement and have yet to hear back. Even if replaced, I will be suspicious as the devil. So view my original review below with some skepticism... >>> Original <<< For decades, my wife has used a similar unit from Thermophore (previously Battle Creek or something). These worked well and lasted a long time. But everything eventually dies and when we tried ordering a new unit - with exactly the same model number - we discovered that, sadly - like so many things - the current version of the product was pure crap and had to be returned! Thankfully, we stumbled onto this one - with the "analog" switch. In almost every way, this unit is a high quality, direct replacement for what we previously used with great success. I will point out that the size is a bit smaller and that the previous unit was a bit heavier in weight. But those seem minor compared to the simple fact that it works as well as what we previously used.

This one really heats!!!
Most heating pads provide very little heat. My husband has back issues and wanted to heat and ice his back . He tried the heaping pad I bought at a local drugstore and said the heat was so weak it wasn’t worth it. I went on Amazon and found a medical grade one. It I gets really hot! The switch is one you jhave to hold for it to be on, and he wasn’t sure he would like that but it works because it heats quickly and you can’t leave it on for long. He is very happy with it, and as it cools down you get kind of a moist heat which is good!
