Takuma Akutsu is not an attractive guy. In fact, his hulking size and ugly face have earned him the nickname "demon", which is ironic since all he really wants is to be left alone. But you know who never pays attention to what people want? The King of the Gods, Odin, who decides that Takuma is the one person who can save Earth from complete destruction. As a result, Takuma finds his school, class and home all infiltrated by Odin's nine luscious Valkyrie daughters and, in order to become the Army of One that Odin seeks, Takuma has to use love to forge the Valkyrie's maidenly powers into the ultimate force for saving the world. Yeah, no pressure there, right? Can Takuma man up and ride all nine Valkyries to save the Earth? Find out in VAL X LOVE!

Average with some funny moments
It sounded really cool in the description but in the end I found this series to be just ok. Not sure if there is a second season so maybe it gets better. The main character really isn't all that likeable although I guess that is the whole point. On the flip side one thing I really liked about the main character was how his art changed to depict how others viewed him in a lot of scenes. Most of the girls are pretty cool but like half of them didn't really get much story build up or time with the main character. The whole idea is that they fall in love with the main character. The girls get stronger and level up depending on their relationship and what they do with the main character. Things like going on a date, staring at each others eyes or holding hands for a certain time, and kissing as examples. That is where the comedy comes in because he wants nothing to do with other people or them and just wants to be left alone to study and get good grades. But he is the "chosen one" by the girls father (never really explained why) so he is always in these awkward and funny situations. There are nine of these girls in total I believe so you would have thought the first nine episodes would have more focus on the relationship with one of the girls and the main character for each of the first nine episodes. It started out that way for the first three episodes and three girls but then went back to focusing mostly on the first girl, with little bits of the others here and there. To be honest in 12 episodes it really didn't feel like all that much happened. You don't even really get much of an explanation of how the main character ended up in this position. In the first episode he was already living with the girls. Then you get a brief flashback and explanation that still really doesn't explain much. One thing to note is that there is no English audio. It does say on the store page japanese audio only. I just never noticed it, however that is a non issue to me though since I only ever watch sub.
