Bought this to help rewire my house with ethernet cables, but I wish I had bought it sooner just to check patch cables. This product is extremely easy to use, but it is well worth the money for troubleshooting network connectivity problems or even piece of mind. Flip the switch and if all the lights show (in succession) then the cable is good to go. This product has saved me hours of troubleshooting. When my son's computer was experiencing intermittent connectivity I was able to rule out the cables in the wall and the patch cable as the root cause, and focus on the computer hardware and settings. Similarly, I was able to narrow down a different issue to a bad cable rather than replacing network hardware. Sure this device really does only one thing, but it does it extremely well and is the perfect tool to have ready for when you need it most. Note build quality is nothing spectacular, but for a plastic device it is solidly made. The included cables are very heavy duty and great quality. Overall a great purchase.

Yes, easy to use, test’s UTP/STP which is great for the price. But, why bother with the holding case when it doesn’t fit everything you’re providing? I’m stumped!

The perfect tool for testing out Ethernet cabling. I just wired my home with CAT 6 and used this tool extensively to check out the integrity of the cable I had run and terminated. Be aware, this is a basic testing tool that will tell you if you have continuity in your cables and if your RJ45 connectors are properly made with the correct wire going to the proper pin. This tool will not tell you if your cable and connectors pass any CAT 5 or CAT 6 standard for data handling speed or crosstalk. That calls for a very expensive tool that you probably don't need unless you are building a data center. I simply check Internet upload and download speeds at my router first, and then at the end of all of my new cables. If it's the same, I can pretty much be assured the new cable I've installed is making it's desired specification.

We just had a house built and the contractor that installed the cabling did not know what they were doing. Some cable ends were wired in reverse, some had wires flipped, and and there were more landline outlets than network. Who uses landlines? This cable tester let me know exactly which wires were in the wrong location and test the phone jack connections after I rewired them for network.Easy to use and easy to decipher the lights. I had one where the 7 & 8 wires were flipped. With my eyesight seeing the difference was not easy. With the lights on the device it was a breeze to see.The way they store with one sliding into the other is really nice.Highly recommended.

Was redoing my attic network cabling and adding cables for cameras/video surveillance. Could have paid almost same amount for prefab cables or a 500’ spool to make my own cables. So glad I did and this tool quickly confirms proper connector connections at each end, even if the 2 ends are separated by a long distance. Worked perfectly! Seemed to be other similar products at less cost but no question this was a great time saving and accurate purchase! The vendor sounded more reputable than some of the others.

I bought this product 18 months ago and it was fantastic.I have used it a lot during that time and always store it the little case in my backpack.This morning I needed at and it simply would not come on - dead!
