Solaris Soundtrack

Solaris was a great movie and a lot of the mood of the film is thanks to the music. The soundtrack is great for chilling at home, reading, or working and is always nice to listen to. Every time it is on at my house and people are over, they ask what the music is.

I can't tell you how many times I've told people that I love the movie Solaris (the Clooney re-make, not the Russian original) only to get that odd stare and perhaps the revealing "Oh,really?" response.The music is haunting, and I found myself putting the cd into the player and going to the menu just to have it as background. Now, I've ordered the soundtrack. I can't tell you why I think the music is so deeply poignant. Others here have written far more eloquently than I have.It would be interesting to determine the percentage of people who liked or loved the movie who also feel the same way about the soundtrack, and vice-versa. The music, somehow, is connected to what happens in the movie, tied to it, linked to the characters, space, and Solaris itself.A most remarkable musical accomplishment."There are no answers. Only choices."

The soundtrack to the film Solaris is one of my all time favorite soundtracks. It is ambient, moody, edgy, vibrant, and emotional. The instruments and the textures and the simplicity of the melodies are incredible. Whenever I listen to the tracks, I lose myself in thought, in my imagination. It's an inspiring soundtrack, and I highly recommend it.

Chris Martinez is great. If you like this, the Traffic sound track is it.

I listen to this at work, on loop. Like my own elevator music, but quite enjoyable. There's just enough variety to keep it interesting yet not distracting. It's also great as wake-up music. Good purchase...

Soderbergh's version of Solaris is criminally underrated, and a large part of the film's magnificent atmosphere is due to Cliff Martinez. His score is unlike anything he's composed before or since, melding a variety of specialty instruments with a stark, cold sound and cyclical musical cells. Influences from Ligeti and Glass are noticeable, but Martinez structures the music in such a way that it seems more homage or fusion. It's very much a score of color and tone, overwhelmingly cold and troubled but with moments of warmth. It's well-suited to contemplation, meditation, or writing and is worthy of note as an important piece of music apart from the film.

Great CD for creating a little moody background. Easy music to work or study to. I find it hypnotic enough to just keep it on "repeat" in my CD player and have it going for hours. Don't get me wrong though--I'm not saying its boring! Perhaps the perfect CD to curl up with your lover on a rainy night(if you saw the movie, you'd know why). Between the CD and the movie, the music always makes me think of rain. I found out that the unplaceable sounds the artist uses are custom-built steel drums. Check him out on Myspace. I loved the movie as well.

I will never be able to disassociate this incredible score from the equally beautiful film...but to hear it without the film is as much a joy, as the two together. it melts my heart every time with its melancholy luscious strains. Cliff Martinez was completely at one with director Stephen Soderberg's vision with this subtle romantic aural scape. i'm very grateful to have finally purchased the soundtrack after all these years, and even though it brings tears to my eyes every time, I love it for that very power.

Zoverstocks has not let me down yet and in fact has excelled in the quality/condition of their 2nd hand blu rays & cds I have ordered up to now. There is always that dread you'll receive a 2nd hand item in poor condition and is it worth taking the chance?As for the soundtrack itself, I think fans will agree that for under £8.00, this was a good purchase!The soundtrack fits the film's narrative, mood & pace perfectly through creative use of melodic tones fading in & out, Indonesian bells, gongs & drums with the occasional steel drums (Less is More) for added clarity & affect.Great to listen & relax to with the lights dimmed if you're into that kind of thing?

Cliff Martinez a parte de haber sido miembro de la primera formación de Red hot, aquí dio con este mismo director, SODERBERGH, el salto en el 89 a la electrónica de una manera increíble como si ser batería ya no le llenase. Este album del 2003 está lleno de matices áureos que retratan una película que es muy buena sin compararla con ka de TARKOVSKY. Unas texturas y melodías pegadizas Cliff, nunca defrauda.
