Surprisingly good for medium and smaller hands. Not so much for mine.

I wish they made this just a little bit bigger because other than the hand-feel, like my hand is hiding it from bandits, drooped over it so as not to crush it, I LOVE this mouse. The trackball position is perfect. The scroll buttons on the left are great. The dpi switch while not in an optimal place provides something special. You can feel with your palm where it is positioned. You start to remember. You can also quickly verify visually. Having a physical sliding dpi changer isn't something you know you wanted until you use it. The extra finger mouse button is just, perfect for binding mouse-look in games so you can quickly look around. It's not heavy but it's not light so it doesn't wander, but it's not hard to get it out of way quick to put down a pizza or drink. It feels quality. While the page buttons on the top near your pointer finger don't lend themselves to rocker style pressing without moving your finger, they do have positive click and feel very natural to use by curling your pointer finger and pressing them deliberately. This makes them better for precision actions in games like firing a secondary weapon or precisely dropping a bomb on a target. The scroll wheel has the most amazing left-right panning tilt I've ever seen on a trackball. Logitech could learn something here. instead of being completely useless because of hard switches like almost every single other device in existence, they are just compliant enough that you can actually use them for useful things in games that recognize them. If you are an elite dangerous player, this trackball would be perfect for left-right menu navigation binding. If you don't have a good hotas yet (rolls eyes). But if you have bigger hands, all this awesome still won't feel good because you feel like you are riding a childs bicycle. Or you accidentally bought the travel version. And it's just so frustrating because its not that far off. 4 or 5 more mm of base length and it might be perfect for big hands. It's still an outstanding device. Superior to even the MX Ergo I'm using again in many ways, but it doesn't feel good with my big paws. If you have the regular hands they designed this for, you'll love it.

Works Great, Incredible Value, but had to replace a Dud

Update: after a few weeks of usage, the tracking movement suddenly went awry. It's jerky and nearly unusable. Perfectly clean, seems to be an internal failure. Happens on both computers I use. Swapping as defective using Amazon's great return service. It was great while it lasted. Hopefully, the replacement will live longer. Must knock my rating down a notch for defective product, but it barely works well enough for me to click the stars.I've used several models of Logitech thumb trackballs over the years, starting with the Trackman Stationary Mouse model T-CD2-6F in 1993. They've always been smooth, fast and reliable. But, Logitech no longer makes a wired thumb trackball, so when I needed to replace my ageing Trackman Marble, Logitech was no longer an option. I need a wired trackball for 2 reasons: (1) I use an IOGear GCS1102 KVM switch, and (2) Wireless mice and trackballs don't have that instantaneous smooth response of a good wired unit. This M-XT3URBK just arrived and I've only used it for 10 minutes but I can already tell it's at least as good as the latest Logitech units. It's smooth, fast, accurate, and very comfortable for my large hands. It works flawlessly on my Ubuntu 16 system, both plugged in directly, and through the GCS1102. No drivers needed, just plug it in. At first it didn't work through the GCS1102; motion was only side to side and the buttons didn't work right. But as soon as I disabled the GCS1102's mouse emulation, all that was fixed. It reports 9 usable buttons to Linux x-event. The 10th button, on the far right side, is not detected. The buttons are:1 Left, 2 Middle (click the scroll wheel), 3 Right, 4 (scroll up), 5 (scroll down), 6 (tilt scroll wheel left), 7 (tilt scroll wheel right), 8 (lower page button), 9 (upper page button).Linux users rejoice: you can use all the buttons without any driver, with some simple xEvent work. For $40 this is an incredible value. As good or better than any Logitech trackball I've used, at half the price.Note: I've read the prior versions of this trackball, XT1 and XT2, were not as nice. Elecom incrementally improved it with each version. This XT3 version has the ruby bearings for the trackball and the high quality Oetmu button switches.PS now have used it 8-10 hours per day for a few months, as I've gotten used to it I still find it equal to any of the Logitech thumb trackballs I've used over the years. I sold my other Logitech trackball and bought another one of these for home. It does track more smoothly with the switch in low-sensitivity mode. In high mode it gets jerky. But low-sensitivity mode on this Elecom is the same as the standard mode with Logitech's pointers.
