Loved this mic!
I loved this mic! I'm using it to record podcast audio at the moment and it has really helped to boost the quality of my sound. It was very easy to set up and start using, and it got to me in great condition with a super smooth delivery :) Excited to keep using it!!

BEWARE MAC USERS
BEWARE. If you are a Mac user and do not have USB A connections this mic will not work. For those of us who are in the present and use Mac's with USB-c and thunderbolt connections the cable provided is non compatible. All Mackie will do about it is tell you that it's not compatible. So good luck. Also, the unit I received has 2 knobs falling off, poor build quality and poor QC. I had to re-attach the knobs on my own. Other than that the mic sounds good and operates as expected. Overall for the money it is a good mic, but now I have to pay more for a cable that will work.

Decent Mic for the Price
I have mixed feelings about this microphone and almost sent it back more than once. Things I liked: The footprint is great. The front facing volume control is great. The fact that it has multiple pick up patterns is outstanding (and a must if you are going to use this for streaming or podcasting). The connectivity is great. The sound quality is very good (actually better than I was expecting). Things that could be better - I own other mics (including studio condensers). This microphone is super-sensitive. I've used this only in a streaming/podcasting environment thus far and I've had to use pretty significant noise gating in a third party app to reject background noise from the other end of my house. That is not something I have experienced using DAWs and studio mics (even with no acoustic treatment). So, perhaps more than just a gain knob could be useful. Maybe a 10db cut would be useful. The other thing I don't love and try not to use is the onboard mute button. I only use it when I have to step away from my computer to ensure there is no signal going in. Trying to push the mute button (no matter how softly) creates an audible "thud" in the stream. So, I use mute buttons in my software instead. Since this feature is more a convenience than anything, it's not a huge loss. Based on the above, I cannot wait to try this on an acoustic guitar or with a singer. I think it could be pretty stellar with the right sound treatment.

= Complete Failure, for one simple omission
Obviously one would want to attach the mic to a boom arm -- that's why there's a mounting option at the bottom of it. Designers have put the headphone and USB jacks at the bottom of this mic (labels for which are transposed by the way: USB marked as headphones, headphones as USB). While there is an included 5/8" to 3/8" converter to make this mic compatible with the likes of Rode PSA1 Swivel Mount Studio Arm, that converter is useless, because while it does allow to connect to 3/8" attachment pin of the boom, it fails to have sufficient room in order for the USB & headphones to be connected and mic to be articulated as needed around the pin axis, i.e. included adapter is just too *** short! The solution would be so *** simple -- include adapter that is about 3" long, but now it's a complete failure and a very disappointing experience. More time needs to be spent trying to find a solution, if it is at all possible. - This is a review of the box contents for this item -- as it is being sold to Customers, and should be published.

Clear Audio: A Mackie EM-CARBON Premium USB Condenser Microphone Review
I have a mild interest in video podcasting and participated as a guest in a few remote podcasts. I ordered the Mackie EM-CARBON premium USB condenser microphone to provide good quality audio on my end. This microphone weighs 2,5 lbs, measures 11.8” tall by 3” wide, and includes a desktop mic stand and USB-C cable. ProTools First and Waveform OEM professional software is also provided via download. So far, my experience has been problematic due to my laptop’s age. This microphone performs well and provides high-quality audio. I can select from five polar patterns: stereo, cardioid, bi-directional, super-cardioid, and Omni. This microphone is simple to set up and use for any experience level. However, I feel like this microphone is far more advanced than I. I find learning more about the features challenging when my laptop creates frustration. The Mackie EM-CARBON premium USB condenser microphone provides excellent sound quality with ease. I will be able to learn more about the features of this microphone as I gain more experience. If you want professional quality sound for zoom calls or podcasting, the Mackie EM-CARBON premium USB condenser microphone is a good purchase. ► PROS: Plug & Play on Mac or PC Stand included Includes headphone output, mute, and volume control Professional sound quality 5 selectable polar patterns Standard thread mount Great for content creation, home studio, streaming, and online meetings Includes professional software ► CONS: None I could find

Product isn't sturdy enough to withstand shipping...
When I received my microphone the front knobs were broken. So, if a brand new product isn't strong enough to withstand shipping, then it certainly won't last on a weekly or even daily basis. That's unfortunate because I usually respect Mackie products and I'm definitely disappointed in this experience.
