An Step Up From Other Soaps!
This is really excellent soap! There is very little comparison between this soap and most of the other handmade soap options out there. Even though there are a number of "hand made" soaps on the market and many of them are excellent, this soap is still one of the best I've ever used. Not only do the natural benefits of a pine tar soap shine through, but the added benefits of the exfoliating sand and the other natural ingredients make it a bit of a game changer. (Which is an interesting term to be applied to a product that is based on a good, old-fashioned, natural recipe and not some funky new chemical additive.) I find it interesting that some reviewers mention the scent... While there is a mild pine scent (which is both pleasant and TERRIBLY manly in my opinion), the scent is not overpowering in any way. I honestly don't understand any of the comments on it being a "strong" scent. Any scented soap out there has more of a lingering scent to it than this... even "unscented" ones often have more of a fragrance than this particular soap. As far as the cleaning and exfoliating properties, they do the job very well... as they should. The pine tar and other ingredients leave my skin feeling fresh and clean without any drying (a big thing when you live in a dry climate like Denver!), and the sand that is impregnated into the bar is just enough to give the soap some "grit" without seeming like it is sandpaper. If you are buying this soap to help with skin conditions, I can only speak from second-hand experience. My wife and daughter have issues with psoriasis and other than a very expensive mud that you can get from the dead sea, a good pine tar soap (like this one) is far and away the best treatment either of them has ever used... and considering the low cost and easy delivery through Amazon, it is not even a contest as to what they prefer to use on a daily basis. (BTW... if you need a good pine tar shampoo, try Heritage Store Hair Shampoo, Pine Tar, 12 Ounce , it is to shampoos what this soap is to medicated hand soap. And last but not least, even though it doesn't have any effect on the quality of the soap... the company is great! They have a cute little email blurb that they send you from Amazon after you have ordered that tells the story of how Sasquatches (Sasquatch-ie?) slave-away lovingly to make the soap for you... it is a minor marketing thing, but I found it surprisingly endearing that the company wants to give you a great product as well as a chuckle or two... Kudos!

Cost versus longevity.
I've heard about Dr. Squatch from a few friends, so I decided to use a gift card and bought a few of these bars. They're NOTHING like the usual soap bar that leaves you feeling like you have a film over your skin! They lather very well and have some grit to help with cleaning. The scent is a nice surprise, only wish it would last longer. One bar will last around a week of usage for me. I think it's a little costly for one bar of soap. On the other side of that - it is the BEST soap bar I've ever used to make me smell that good and truly feel clean after a hard day's work.

Give Squatch a chance!
Ok, I got my first set of Dr. Squatch soap as a christmas gift. After first use, I was sold. When I was just taking a whiff at bars around the store, I didn't think pine tar smelled all that great and gave it a hard pass, but after getting one in a bundle, I gave it a try. Pine Tar is one of my favorite scents now. The smell is both manly and elegant at the same time. I promise, you won't smell like you've been hugging a pine tree all day. Give it a try, you'll love it.

Good till its gone!
Purchased this Dr. Squatch- Pine Tar as a gift for my husband. He loved the scent and used it till it was just a smudge on the ledge of our shower liner tray. 😂 Very pleased! The soap produces lots of suds.

Not What I Expected, but it's still good
I finally caved in and bought this after seeing ad upon ad and video upon video of this soap bar, and a plethora of compliments on this soap bar. I think this Pine Tar scent is overplayed. I first got it and from the commercials; "The garden of Eden" and a girl mentioning she was staying for breakfast from the way it smelled on the commercial had me thinking "okay, this is going to smell really good". First thoughts: It does smell pretty good, however it did remind me of a grandpa cologne at first but I quickly shook that thought from my mind. I was also hoping that this bar of soap will last pretty long and that I won't have to buy another bar next week for $10. Initial Use: This bar is pretty abrasive but tolerable like taking salt in your hand and rubbing it on your skin (weird analogy right?) Anyways, I was not able to get it to lather up very well at all like in the commercial, barely any lather. It did turn the water black a little bit and left some black residue on me during passes (it rinsed off, so I am not concerned about it). My skin does feel refreshed and softer from the exfoliation caused by the bar. In conjunction with this soap bar, I also bought the Anwenk wooden soap holder thing for $6 to lay the Pine Tar bar on top of after rinsing it to help it last longer. Will update on occasion for how long it lasts. UPDATE 7/11/19: The picture shows 16 days worth of the bar of soap with no more than 30 seconds of lather for use. I rinse it, shake the water off and set it on the wooden thing. It smells and feel really nice, but $20 a month for a bar or soap is pretty expensive.

Picky hubby loves!
My husband loves this soap. He’s a picky PITA! It does smell VERY strong in the box. But after the first use it’s better. He raved about it and how his skin felt even after working all day. Like other reviews I can tell he’s going to blow thru it quickly- but it’s worth it for sure.

The smell of the pine tar is absolutely amazing, also love that it's free of harsh chemicals like sodium laurel sulfate. Definitely a great option if you're looking for a natural soap! I believe it would be a lot cheaper to buy them on their site for $9 per bar as opposed to $23 as of right now (They need to pay for amazon storage fees and so forth). The only thing I didn't like about the charcoal component of the pine tar soap was that its extremely messy in a white shower. coats the floor fairly thickly with black. It's not hard to clean, also not "easy" but other than that great soap! looking forward to trying different scents! LOVE THAT THEY'RE NATURAL!

Title says it all, found this soap was really nice on the skin for exfoliating. Smell after the shower doesn't last that long but definitely noticeable. JUST TOO EXPENSIVE!! This soap is $9 on dr. Squatchs website...

So the positives: - Smells wonderful - Makes a nice thick lather - Leaves you clean, as a good soap does The negatives: - Not a viable treatment for skin disorders. Don't believe the claims. If this was a valid treatment, actual dermatologists would use it. This won't really do much for any acne, dandruff. Save your money if that's what you're looking for. - The Price. Holy Moley. - The smell does not linger or last, so it's really just for you while you're washing up. Anyone else would have to get really close to notice, and you yourself won't notice it anymore within a few minutes of leaving the shower. - Needs to be protected from the elements and kept away from moisture. I cut the bar in quarters and used one piece at a time. If you don't keep it in a watertight dish away from humidity (a sealed soap dish), it'll turn to goop and be very hard to use. - It takes about 1/4 the time to go through a bar as normal soap. Even keeping it sealed and out of water, this stuff just foams away to nothing in no time at all.
