Great for Food Prep!
Yes - It's compatible with Kirkland and other brand bags. Picked this up on a sale and I've been using it multiple times a week ever since. This has let me buy the big packs of meat or entire roasts and break them down into portions for our family for freezing. Everything that I've vacuum sealed comes out absolutely perfect with no freezer burn. The unit seals well but the workflow I've found the best is to seal it still on the roll, chop off what I think I will need with a bit extra, put in my food, rough measurement to where the bag will reach the vacuum sealing area and have where the heating elements unobstructed. It will take a little practice. I find on my counter putting a cutting board to raise up the bag/food helps me to line it up more evenly. I've also found that for moist foods with liquid that running the vacuum manually and sealing when I see the liquid JUST start to get pulled past the heating element gets me a good seal. I'll typically seal once, dry the excess with a paper towel and the. Seal right above the first one to ensure I have a good air tight with no risks of leaks. Easy to use, buttons are fairly self explanatory although I don't find the automatic modes to be very good. On dry foods it crushes them and on wet foods it sucks a bunch of liquid into that opening. I haven't had much luck with that manual canning mode even on ziplocs. I grabbed it on sale and I think it's a good value. It's a good width and will do most sized vacuum bags I've seen.

A step up over the old FoodSaver
After about a decade or so, my FoodSaver v4400 suddenly died. At the time of its purchase, it was the top of the line. I thought about replacing it with another one, but then I recalled that it was not exactly the best experience. The automated bag detection system worked, but the reason it existed in the first place is because the user had to stick the bag into a slot far enough for the machine to functional, but not too far. This meant that there was some trial and error with each usage. I also remembered that the I could not always get great suction or an ideal seal. Again, this was a function of the design. I read a number of reviews for the latest FoodSavers and many of the reviews state that the newer ones are not as good as the earlier models. These were the things that led me to consider alternative solutions. Most of the reviews of today's top vacuum sealers indicated that either the Anova or the Nesco was a better choice. I opted for the Anova over the Nesco because of one simple feature. With the Anova, I can keep sealing one bag and another. The Nesco needs time in between seals to rest. Because I tend to do all the bagging and then all the sealing, the Anova made a lot more sense. If that is not your habit, you might prefer the superior vacuum strength of the Nesco. The Anova turned out to be the answer to all my problems. The design is much different. The user can see the seal strip and where the bag goes for vacuuming making the whole operation easy and predictable. The Anova simply has more vacuum suction power than by old V4400 and that not only translates to an improved reduction of air, but also significantly faster vacuuming. It does, however, take a little longer to seal - and that is probably in part due to the superior double seal. Overall, I think it is faster. More importantly, it does a better job, and it does it all the time. It is also a small and lighter machine offering all the features of the v4400 -for about 1/2 the cost. I do not know yet if the Anova will last 10 years, but it does come with a warranty that is double that of a new v4400. And it can use the exact same bags as the FoodSaver.

Review after one year of use
I've been using this vacuum sealer regularly for about a year now and feel that I can give a good balanced review now. I use it for sous vide cooking and also to prepare food items for freezer storage. The unit worked great for the first 3 months. It sucked every bit the air out of the bags and made a perfect seal. After the 4 month mark, I noticed it was more finicky - it would take several attempts, and the bag had to be positioned just so, in order to get all the air out. A few times the seal proved to be not perfect and it let air into the bag and allowed fluid to leak into the sous vide bath. Lately it works only half the time - it takes multiple attempts to get a true vacuum and I have to seal at least twice to be sure the seal will hold in the sous vide. Another annoying thins is that the controls don't work as before - it used to be one click to vacuum and seal, now it's hit and miss if the seal function will work after the vacuum function. Another thing is the external pulse vacuum feature - so you can use use reusable bags - does not work at all - no suction whatsoever. I'm frankly disappointed that the unit failed after only a year. It's out of warranty so I can't get warranty service. I would not purchase this again nor recommend it. While it is inexpensive relative to other better known brands, it does not go the distance. If I had to do it over again, I would spend more money for a unit with better longevity. Or get a much cheaper brand that I know I'll have to replace in a year - which I loathe doing.

Got to buy sealer
This vacuum sealer is the bomb. Great size for varying applications. The double sealing and not being limited on how many bags can be sealed in a row is a game changer. For the price, not waiting until the heat strip cooled down was worth the little extra money I spent. If you haven't tried vacuum sealing, start today. Costco and only one person in the house, no problem. Vacuum seal what can't be used and only seal up what you need for meal preparation. Since purchasing, I have sealed 100 bags of different type of food and no breaking of the vacuum seal

Good, could be better
When I needed a new vacuum sealer I was excited to give the Vacuum Sealer Pro a chance based on my experience with the Anova Sous Vide cookers. Other than my experience with the sous vide giving me confidence in the brand, I chose this because it specifically called out being able to seal a large number of bags in succession which is something my FoodSaver struggled with and in my limited usage so far it does deliver on that promise. I do have a few gripes though, none of which are deal breakers on their own or enough for me to return it but are things that cheapen the experience and I think would prevent me from buying another in the future especially at full price. The first is the thickness of the base makes it so I have to either cut way too much extra bag or prop up the bag on something like a cutting board so it can sit closer the opening otherwise you won't be able to get the bag into the unit far enough to get a good vacuum and seal. Second, the drip tray is not removable so when you do get any juices into the unit you cant clean it as easily as even the bottom tier vacuum sealers from other brands, this is a bit of a sanitary issue since you can't clean it as thoroughly as units with a removable tray. My final gripe is the lack of included accessory hose. It's such a small thing and Anova currently sells it for $7, this seems like something that should be included in a "pro" machine. It may be user error somehow, but I have an issue when running the "vacuum & seal" cycle, the bag will vacuum and it will switch to the seal stage but it never actually seals the bag and there are no signs on the bag that any heat was applied, rerunning the cycle resolves it, but it has happened 3 or 4 times in about 30 bags sealed. I will keep an eye on it to see if it continues to be a problem. It's not the end of the world but is something that shouldn't be happening. I also tried the included roll of material to ensure it wasn't some kind of compatibility issue with the third party bags I have been using and the same thing happened. I do highly recommend if you do buy this unit you buy basically any other brand of material. The bags/rolls are so severely overpriced compared to competitors and mine has worked with both FoodSaver and Kirkland signature bags without issue so far. Overall it is worth the current Amazon sale price of $99 but I don't recommend it at full price as it just doesn't elevate the experience over other brands you can buy for $100 or less. I also have a chamber sealer that is starting to act up and parts are no longer available for it, I was considering the anova chamber sealer but at this point I think I will look elsewhere.

Powerful AND sleek
Sleek and diminutive but more than adequate vacuum—everything I was looking for in an inexpensive non-commercial unit. Everything works as advertised, easy to clean, store. Buttons are easy to find, are sealed actual buttons. If using for marinades, make sure your bags are at least 4” longer than needed so the liquid won’t seep upwards and cause messes—using low power (liquid setting) helps but cannot prevent liquid from traveling upwards. The nice thing is you can put in manual/pulse mode and watch for the right moment before sealing. Been a while since I’ve used one of these and forgot how much liquid travels upwards even after the pump stops. Use for sous vide with great success. Included roll stores nicely with the unit. Impressed and happy overall.

Love this sucker! ;)
I am very happy with this product. Cutting custom sized bags is super quick and easy. The deal is strong. The vacuum is strong and effective. Food stays fresh and doesn’t get freezer burn. I mostly use this for sealing homemade venison smoked sausage and it’s awesome. So glad I went with this one. It fits the rolls made for Foodsaver and Mainstay. The mainstay bags are very economical. Would definitely recommend

Works very well and I can use Foodsaver bags with no issues
This is a review of the Anova Culinary Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro, Includes 1 Bag Roll, For Sous Vide and Food Storage, black, medium My old Foodsaver Vacuum Sealer machine finally bit the dust. I was kind of shocked how expensive they've become so I started looking for an alternative. I discovered the Anova brand and bought this model. I've been very pleased with the performance and ease of operation. Some people have complained that they cannot use Foodsaver brand rolls in this, well I use that brand since I had a numerous rolls left when my old machine died. Happily the roll works perfectly in this new Anova machine. What stands out to me is that this double seals the bags which gives me much more confidence that the contents are air-tight. What bothers me a little bit is that it does take longer for this to seal the bag than my previous machine. But that is just a minor complaint. The build quality seems fine to me and the suction power is great. No issues so far and I've had this for about 6 months and use it several times a week.
