A teacher's gold mine!!!
I started teaching in1972. There were no such things a CDs back then. This record was a 331/3 speed vinyl record. I used it with my second graders. They always looked forward to the activity songs during our morning break. It makes them think as we'll as move. It is an awesome learning tool for early learners.you do not need to be a teacher to use this album(CD) with little ones. Just learn the words and act out the rest. It teaches them to recognize colors and numbers. It is excellent. I am getting a copy after 39 years of teaching. I am using it with my grandchildren. Gold does not lose its value. This CD is wonderful. It keeps the first and second graders engaged. Buy it before it is taken out of production!!

Preschool music
As a preschool teacher for the last 25 years I have used this recording with many classes and for many years. I recently switched to a school that did not have a copy and borrowed a copy from the library during the school year last year. Decided I wanted my own copy because it just has so many songs that really are enjoyed by the children and do teach various basic skills with little prep from me. My favorite "Colors" and after the kids get the hang of it they love all the standing and sitting that is they must do during the song. Definitely reccommend this especially if you can only get one recording, this should be it.

Oh So Pleasant
Pleasantly surprised, when we turned on the music, and out came soothing, beautiful, simple music. Lovely in its calm approach, with deep yet gentle masculine voices. While this is music for our youngest, I can put the CD on at lunch time, and no one rolls his eye balls or complains, just because it's kiddie music. No insipid quasi-rock-inspired idiocy, leaving you cringing after ten minutes. The songs are old-fashioned (i.e. talking about girls dressing in skirts and dresses, boys in pants.) If you aren't big on reason / teleology, you will be offended by such blatant "genderism". (Not a word, but should be.) Great for ages nothin' through about five or six.

Excellent for young children!
26 years ago I was a student teacher in a kindergarten classroom. The teacher used this with the students and they loved it. I am teaching some music to some preschool and kindergarten age children right now and got this. It is as wonderful as I remembered. The little ones I am working with are ages 3-6. They LOVE it. I love it. Happy and pleasant music, great concepts and movement activities for little ones. And the music is not irritating as some music for children is.

Basic but very fun for young children
Basic but very fun for young children. I used this about 20 years ago..it is a classic..I am subbing now and keep it in myred sub bag...great filler and reinforces concepts. Glad it is still available. I used it this last Monday and Tuesday and kidsespecially like Colors and March Around the Alphabet. I like to use Elephant Walks for animal unit.

Perfect for preschool classrooms
I bought this to use in an early childhood classroom, and the children love it! I love it too! Hap doesn't go out of style.I spent many weeks researching children's music available for this age group. I was very disappointed by the fake digital voices, trite lyrics and poor musicianship I found in much of the children's music genre. It was like musical junk food. This album gives you musical nourishment with a large dash of fun. In my classroom the children responded immediately to the simple melodies and catchy rhythms wanting to listen to them over and over again.

More than wine improves with age.
When I opened a nursery school in 1972 with two other teaching moms we stocked our shelves with invigorating, enlightening, lively, engaging music for our children based on experience and reviews. One of our treasures was Learning Basic Skills through Music Volume #1. Well to my delight during my recent visit to our local library to research children's music on the shelf was a CD of Learning Basic Skills through music. Now my grandson's are singing, dancing, laughing and asking me to play it again. This is an exceptional tool for use with individual children or in a group.
