A must see. Great for kids of all ages
Ahhh, so many things to say: I'll start with the cons: tablet does not come with a screen shield or an extra stylus. However these are easily obtainable at a small cost. Sometimes the tablet will freeze during play. The only thing we could do to fix it is hold down the power button until it shuts down. Pros: it's amazing.... There are so many safety features on the tablet. In the kid mode the videos on YouTube are filtered. Most of the kids apps are educational. You can add games to the kid mode as well. In mommy/daddy mode you can use it as a regular tablet. Internet is searchable without restrictions. It is easy for kids to use. I have A 6,7 and 8 yr old. They each have their own. There are time limits you can set on the tablets.

Wonderful idea, but major letdown
We bought this as a birthday present for my 5 year old. We have had problems with it since day 1. We have had this since September 2015 (I am reviewing this in January 2016) because I am absolutely fed up with the constant annoyances from this tablet. Instead of writing a lengthy summary, I decided to list pros and cons, and explain in detail the more important ones. Pros- - The preloaded games are really great (when they work). My 5 year old loves them, and there are plenty of options for him so he never gets bored. - There are also quite a bit of educational games that are a nice feature. He enjoys the math game the most because it has the "fun" of a regular game but also the challenge of math equations. - The "pen" that comes with the tablet is a nice feature, especially for the drawing app. - The case that comes with it is not only very sturdy but also the rubberized edging seems to help with gripping. He never has to worry about his hands getting to sweaty and accidentally dropping it. Cons: - The battery life is HORRIBLE. We charge it every night. He plays with it in the morning car ride on the way to school which is about a 10 minute drive. If he does not turn it off completely, it will be dead by the time I pick him back up at 2:30. When he does remember to turn it off, he will then play after homework, for about 30 minutes and without fail. every night the battery is almost completely dead. It never lasts more than 24 hours, and considering I only let him play MAYBE an hour a day, in separate time increments, that is absolutely ridiculous. I was really thinking this would be great for road trips, but we have made the drive to Atlanta which is about a 2 hour drive, and it is dead before we get there. - The pre-loaded movies have yet to actually load. As soon as we set everything up. we tried to watch How to Train Your Dragon (which is one of the three pre-loaded movies) and never could get it to load. It would just stay black, no matter how long we left it. I posted on the Nabi facebook page because I read reviews that the customer service was best through there facebook page. They responded almost immediately with tips on resetting the tablet and other ways to get the movies to preload. We tried everything they suggested over the next several days and nothing worked. We have finally given up on them ever working which is a huge disappointment because they were one of the reasons we initially decided on this tablet. - The passwords for wi-fi and the parental mode are constantly not working. If ever I need to adjust anything in the mommy mode setting, the password I use only works maybe 50% of the time. The other times it will try to load for a few minutes and then finally tell me the password is incorrect. I have used the same password for this tablet since the day we set it up and I will try multiple times to make sure I am not accidentally messing anything up. A few days later I try again, and suddenly the password works again. Same thing for Wi-Fi in certain places. If he ever comes to my work with me, I have to put the wi-fi password in each and every time and several times it will say the password is incorrect even though it is the same one we have had for years. It is almost as if it is just unable to connect internally, so it just gives up and says the password is wrong. -Overall there is nothing this tablet advertises that others dont also have. I really wish we had gone with a different tablet because this one is becoming nothing short of frustrating. I guess we know what he is getting for his 6th birthday...

This was a great deal for my family
This was a great deal for my family. We live in such a time of technology that the kids are learning younger and younger. We have 5 kids and we bought 2 of these at first for the 2 oldest, 9yrs & 5yrs, but then the other kids started getting into it sooo much that we broke down and bought 3 more. Every single one of them are happy! It was a plus that we were able to install the ABC Mouse program on these tablets. Not all tablets are compatible and this was perfect. It's a great learning tablet with the capability for more. One tablet gets glitches because we have to keep re-entering the wi-fi, but other then that they are great.

Way better than I could imagine, actually jealous i dont have one!
After returning a Kindle HD fire because it doesn't allow for an expandable memory and a Polaroid kids tablet because it was painfully slow and cheaply made we bought this for our 5yr old. We couldn't be happier. I installed a 32gb card off the bat. (Which I know people forget to do) It is a solid tablet with more features than you'd expect. Great camera, clear display and it holds a charge reasonably well. 4 hours or so. Parents who complain a tablet dies after 4or5 hours really need to rethink that. Why would you want a child glued to a device for 8 hours anyway? She uses this on long car trips and we have videos downloaded from jw.org and she's thrilled with it. All in all we are pleased with it. Just be aware out of the box it needs a software update because they've been stored since the update was released. It is a 700+mb file so IT TAKES A LONG TIME ON WIFI. Be prepared for that. I called Nabi tech support and they were great in explaining that to me. Buy it and you won't regret it.

Just what I needed for my 9 year old
I had bought my 9 year old a small laptop to use for educational purpose (games, books, etc.). The second day of use I walked in on her trying to set up face book on the laptop. After checking to see what else had been loaded I found several downloads that I had not authorized. For that reason I returned the lap top to the store. While in the electronics retail store I saw the Nabi. After reading the information sheet I realized it was exactly what I needed for her. She cannot download anything, nor can she access websites without parental consent. I can specify how much time she can spend on the laptop and set it to allow her more time as chores are completed. It has google play store, but can only be access parental mode parent login. There are plenty of pre-loaded games and websites that are kid appropriate; she enjoys them. I've loaded the educational websites that her school uses, a dictionary website, and e-book website. So, all in all it was the perfect choice for us. The two thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the rubber case is somewhat flimsy. It will fold away from the tablet causing the tablet to flip out of your hand. Also, the table is a little heavy. This maybe due to the connector panel on the back of the tablet, for the letter accessory kit, sold separately. You wont see the panel, on the back of the tablet, in any of the photos. Lastly, I saw the Nabi in a local electronics retail store. I used my cell phone to price compare. I decided to purchase from Amazon when I saw that I could get the tablet, the bag, the screen protector, and accident protection plan for a little more than the price of the tablet alone, in the electronics retail store. The electronic retail store would only match the Amazon price if it was sold directly from Amazon. They would not match price from a third party vendor. I did later see the tablet for much less at Wall-mart. Nevertheless, I was pleased with my purchase because of the additional protective items I purchased from Amazon.

Best Android tablet for children on the market!!!!
These tablets are the best tablets for children!!!! All 3 of my children had the Nabi2 and now that they are older we have upgraded all 3 to the DreamTab. Battery life is great, nice large screen, and love that it has a microSD card slot. The Android OS does not allow you to move installed apps to the microSD card. We use the microSD card to store movies that they can watch during car rides, etc. Can install both Google Play and Amazon appstore on the device which allows them access to any apps out there. I love that you can set which apps they have access to in the child mode. I can log into it as a parent and access all the apps I have installed. This also keeps them from using the web browser apps if you want to restrict their online access. Also Fuhu support is great and will help you with any issues you may have!!!!

TERRIBLE battery life even when not being used-otherwise great
This is a beautiful tablet and combines proprietary games as well as a great ability to add your own. I love that this has Google Play as opposed to our Leap Pad Epic. The screen resolution is great too. Since we are still in chaos from our move I've had to let the kids play with this more than I care to admit but this is where my rating of 3 stars comes in. The battery life is TERRIBLE. It doesn't last long enough to keep 2 kids happy passing it back and forth and it doesn't hold a charge well. If it died at the rate it does but it held a charge while idle I'd have given it 4 stars but if you leave it unplugged overnight it's dead in the morning. That's ridiculous to me. So we have to keep this plugged in all the time it's not being used. I've added a lot of apps and games we already had from Google play and I love that I can add YouTube to this easily. (soon to be YouTube Kids). I don't use the time features because the crappy battery life almost takes care of that itself. One person commented that you don't want your kid using it for 5 hours anyway. Well, even if I was limiting them right now the fact that the battery dies so fast when not being used makes it so limiting it's crazy. Our LeapPad doesn't have as nice a screen, doesn't have Google play (and so many apps aren't avail on Amazon's App store that my kids want- or I'm paying for it there when it's free on Google- so annoying) but the battery last forever. I can leave it unplugged overnight with a 75% charge and it's still about 70% charged in the morning! If the Nabi had a battery life like that It'd get 5 stars, hands down. Since my kids aren't quite playing the games these things come with maybe next time we'll just get them a real tablet and put a kid cover on it but they are still very young (almost 4 and almost 2) so I'll give time for them to get into real game play before I fully decide. Besides, mommy and daddy don't even have tablets at all! I MIGHT buy it again if it died but I'd think twice about it. My husband wouldn't though.

I used to think dreamtabs were so amazing until now
I used to think dreamtabs were so amazing until now. I've bought 2 of these, the first one being for Christmas last year. I received it and wanted to have it ready for to use on Christmas so I made sure the firmware was updated on it before wrapping. The update failed numerous times and eventually I just took it back and got a another one that would update. Worked great after that and had no issues until my mother dropped it in our driveway and shattered the screen. We planned on sending it to nabi and paying to have a new screen. After spending a hour and a half on hold they tell me they no longer fix the screens of their own product because they void their own warranty somehow. So we just planned on buying a new one all together. Christmas this year we buy one off here. At first it asked for a password to decrypt the storage. Factory reset it and then have the same issue as last year, fails during update and after many factory resets and a failing update we get tired of messing with it and call nabi. For the record, nabi/fuhu's customer service lacks a lot to be desired and thats putting it nicely. I was on hold for anhour for them to tell me the only thing they can do is wait to receive it before they can figure out what's wrong with it before they'll send us a refund or a replacement. By the time I hung up I was on the phone for a total of 2 hours after the many times I was placed on hold. I don't mind having a faulty product, although it makes me mad being this close to Christmas and had to order something else. My issue is, they sold millions of these things and some will get them for christmas. We were smart enough to check it and try to update before wrapping. Can one imagine how many upset kids there will be come the 25th when their product does the same thing as ours? They are pushing their products and not even fully making sure it works correctly. After this we are done with nabi products and have switched to the kids fire. At least this way I know if something goes wrong amazon won't hesitate to make it right without having to wait over a month to have a working product. And their customer service is amazing!
