Definitely helps although not as effective as the extraordinary (and expensive) Sam-E. I realized just how much these were working when I forgot to take pill #3 (I follow the instructions which entail taking 3 a day over time) and found myself crying and down in the dumps (my mom's favorite phrase lol) for no apparent reason. It was startling how fast I crashed.I'd say if you decide to stop taking you will need to do it via a gradual wean over time versus a cold turkey. These work best for me when I take 2 first thing in the morning and then the 3rd one in the afternoon.
