Works great, but don't wire it backwards like I did.
The media could not be loaded. So I had an old rotary dial phone (with a rotary to DTMF converter on it) which I was using with my OOMA. The OOMA POTS port is really only strong enough to run 1 powered phone, but I was pleased to see it could also drive the ringer on my old Western Electric 302 phone. I used it in this configuration for about a year, but discovered that whenever I was on the phone, if somebody picked up the cordless phone, the microphone would cut out on my old phone.I emailed viking asking about their RG-10A product which boosts weak ring tone, and one of the sale people suggested this product instead. It was really a guess on their part, but I hadn't come across it and thought if the phone rang, it wasn't a ring voltage problem. It made sense that if the second phone picked up, the current to the old phone would drop to the point where the microphone cut out. It was at least worth a try.So I bought this and much to my dismay it made a strange clicking noise (see video). I thought the product might be defective or it was just confused by the OOMA musical dial tone rather than the normal US dial tone. The viking people offered me an RMA if I wasn't satisfied, but after sleeping on it, decided to double check my wiring. Turns out I had put the IN connection on the phone and the OUT connection on the OOMA. Once I reversed it, the clicking went away and tested the new setup. Much to my pleasure, when I made a call, and picked up the cordless phone, the microphone didn't cut out. Success! YMMV, but it worked in my situation.I wrote Viking and thanked them for the RMA offer, but that I had wired it backwards. I suggested they add the clicking to a Troubleshooting section of the manual (for which there isn't one).Hope this helps, but so far so good. My vintage phone is alive again and couldn't be more pleased.
