NYC Curls The Curl Gel. (12 oz with pump)

I’ve only used it once so far so I’ll update my review later, but this was SO easy to use. I tried DevaCurl Arc Angel and my hair felt dry, I hated having to use it in the shower, etc. With NYC Curl I was able to use this like “old school” gel. I took a glop, rubbed it on my hair, scrunched and twirled some sections for more definition. Probably the fastest I’ve done my hair in a while and I love that it wasn’t super crunchy when dry. This might be my favorite gel now, moving Ouidad Climate Control off the top of my faves. I did use this with the NYC Conditioner which I love. (I have mostly 3B hair).Only thing I didn’t like is that the pump arrived broken. I got a partial refund from amazon as a result, but having the pump for this product would be super useful. I miss it in the conditioner too.

I have been using Eco Styler since I started my natural hair care routine and I find that it really leaves my hair kind of stiff so I was looking for a product with similar hold but one that would allow me to keep the bounce in my hair. This product is fantastic. I really love that it contains Flax Seed gel which really helps with the final texture. I have only used it once and that is the ONLY reason I haven't given it five stars. Maybe I will come back and add a star in a week or so (lol) Great product so far. I will definitely buy it again.

I really like this gel! I've been doing Curly Girl method for about four months now with Deva Curl products and have just started to branch out and try other products. This NYC Curls Gel was one of the first non-Deva Curl products I wanted to try, and I wasn't disappointed! I have thin but very dense 2c/3a combo hair and I am getting great results with this gel. My curls are well-defined and the gel holds well throughout the day. I find I get better definition and hold with less frizz overall than when I use Deva Curl's Ultra defining gel. The only thing I do not love about the product is the scent, but it's not a deal-breaker. I will definitely continue to buy this gel in the future.

Good product, but hate the smell (chemical-ish). Has a ton of protein (so careful low porosity curlies).

I don't recommend this product to a person which hair is not made for protein, I didn't realized my hair was like that until I used this product, what a big mistake!!! I used the curl cleanser (which is wonderful) with the conditioner, and right after this "magic" gel, OMG it was like I added super glue to my hair, what in the !@#$%^ my hair is naturally curly (big curls) after this gel there were no more curls my hair was like a brillo pad texture with frizz static all over, I won't recommend this product to no one with protein issue hair, be aware of the amount of protein of this product.

I bought this line in its entirety...cleanser, leave-in conditioner & gel. My curls are a combination ranging from 3A to 3C, and my hair is very fine (not thick at all). My hair is not color treated, chemically altered, or damaged. I decided to try this line after months of watching stylist videos, reading customer reviews & watching YouTube product reviews & tutorials.Let’s start with the cleanser...it’s a no-poo cleanser that truly does cleanse the scalp & hair really well. The fragrance is a bit overbearing (floral), but not a deal breaker. It left my hair soft & detangling was a breeze.Now moving on to the leave-in conditioner...this is the product I was most disappointed in. I tried every angle with this conditioner...even using directions straight off of the NYC Curls website. I tried leaving in a little, I tried leaving in a lot, and everything in between. My hair did not appreciate this product at all! It was not moisturizing at all, and I could feel the product sitting on top of my hair...like it never really penetrated. My curls were frizzy, no form or curl pattern present & dry (when it fully dried).Moving on to the gel...it’s a gel, so I have no real complaints. It definitely holds. Using a bit too much will result in crunchy & flaking curls. A little goes a long way. Both the leave-in & the gel smell like the cleanser...a very strong floral smell.I read a lot of complaints about the pump on these bottles, and I only had problems with one of them. I just don’t think these products were made for curls that need hydration. The conditioner would probably work well just as a rinse out, or even a deep conditioner, but definitely not a leave-in for my type of curls. Considering the price point of these products, I was very disappointed...it’s an investment gone to waste unless I can find someone who can use them. Hope this review helps someone!

Best hair product for curly hair I've used. Leaves no icky residue. Gives some separation and definition and this will not dry out your hair. Just use a little. Not weighty and does not drag down hair, helps make your curls go boing. Good for allowing next day hair too (try sleeping in a loose pony tail on top of your head "pineapple"). So glad to see this product on Amazon. NYC is a bit far.

Really liked this gel. Used it in combination with the cleanser and conditioner. I'm used to often using 5-7 products on wash day for my braid outs. My hair type is 3b/c. I'm transitioning from relaxed to natural hair. I used the conditioner as a leave-in and followed up with the gel. The gel provided great hold and my hair still felt moisturized. I do wish the scent was not as strong, but scent aside, really like these products. Very moisturizing! I will likely re-purchase. My husband was able to use them on his curls as well.
