0.4mm Diamond Wire Saw

Quite thin but effective cutting softer to medium stone materials. I do lapidary and needed to do more intricate Freeform cuts on some stone slabs to make preforms before the finishing grinding process. I cut the diamond wire to lengths that fit my jewelers saw and sawed away to create various shapes on softer stones. Agates are much harder and would take a lot of work by hand sawing so I’d reccomend a powered trim saw on those. The diamond wire does wear but preformed well for me.

I was able to saw through a 1 inch piece of solid carbide using this stuff in a cheap jeweler's saw that I had laying around. It took a while, and definitely left my arm feeling tired, but I was very impressed that it was able to cut through it. I had a couple of wire breaks, I think I went through about four pieces, maybe two feet of wire to complete my job. Overall, I'm very satisfied with it.

This stuff is amazing! I was able to use it to open up a hole on a printed circuit board that was too small for the component. It did the job very quickly.

The wing screw on the slider broke off on the 1st day of use. I might have tried to tighten it too much but this is precisely the part where you want to ensure it is as tight as it gets so that the wire doesn't begin to slack. Besides, it is metal, not plastic, it is not supposed to just fall off and crumble when you are tightening it with muscle force alone.

I gave it three stars because it doesn't really cut any of my rocks. To be truthful it could be a user error, so I'm not going to say you shouldn't buy it but for me personally it was not a good choice and I did not return it because I kept thinking I would figure it out. I did have somebody look at it and they said I had it set up correctly but it just isn't strong enough to cut my rocks I guess.

Doesn't hold tension, and the tightening hardware snapped off on the third use. Piece of junk and not something you should skimp on- I recommend Green Lions saw frame instead, those are stellar!

I bought this to cut geodes, since I do not like how they look when you break them open. This saw works, but it takes a very long time to cut a geode in half. Otherwise I would give more stars...but my arm and hand hurt!

Purchased this to clean some threads on a piece of steel pipe. Worked surprisingly well. Will be useful for future projects.

I cut different things with mine, works perfectly.
