Read the instructions and don't rush!
I was attracted first off by the truck's resemblance to the cab of the great old classic Dodge Power Wagon, which of course was never a 6x6 but I just liked the looks anyway. I've been wanting a slow-moving crawler so I can mount a GoPro Camera in the bed, and so I had fingers crossed when it was delivered. The supplied instruction sheet had (in addition to almost microscopic printing!) a lot of detailed parts illustrations but was kind of short on actual How-To, which for me as a complete beginner was problematic; in it, Fms specifically said (more than once) that this was not a toy, and they weren't kidding or exaggerating. I think they assumed that whoever buys one of these already knows something about RC equipment. So I just took my time for a few days and did some online research; for one thing, I was pleased to be able to download an exact .pdf copy of the supplied instruction sheet, which I then zoomed to 200 percent size on my PC and used the Win 10 snip & sketch app to obtain nice big .jpgs of any part of the sheet I wanted to study, and could then see clearly & up close. I also watched (on You Tube) some real pros do show & tell on their equipment and technique. When I was ready, I put in the batteries, fired it up and it worked like a Champ! Didn't need to do any trimming of either steering or throttle, it'll zip along smoothly, slow down to a barely-moving crawl and all points in between, reverse smoothly, track arrow straight, turn gently and stop on a dime. It will be a superb camera carrier which is precisely what I wanted. I'm very pleased with my purchase and thanks very much for letting me say a few words about it.

An excellent first crawler!
If you’re looking for a crawler, you should definitely consider this one! It is truly an impressive model at the 1/18 size that I would without a doubt feel comfortable calling "hobby grade". I’ve gotten into the RC world over the past few years and after getting a few Traxxas high speed models in, I decided to look into a crawler to branch out a bit.Right away, the box itself is very nice which is great for storing it when not in use, or for giving it as a gift to anyone in your life who is into RCs (or yourself!). Everything came nicely packaged and all of the necessary hardware and instructions were included. The model itself comes with 6 tires and even includes an actual working spare on the back should you need to replace anything. The front and rear LEDs actually work two which is a great touch. Now as for the abilities, the crawler does a really nice job climbing more firm terrain (think like a hill with grass), and does decent with more loose stuff like rocks, but the more firm stuff is definitely where it shines. Speaking of terrain, the gearbox for this little truck is waterproof, so you can drive t through shallow water. Definitely wouldn’t recommend submerging it! The car has a really nice balance of torque and wheel speed allowing it to climb where your other RCs can’t.

Excellent 1:18 6x6 RC!
Novice RC-er here, yet am able to find it easy to run.The 6x6 itself is very capable, traversing plenty of obstacles. And the materials and build seem pretty durable thus far.

Edit 3/9 - Excellent US based Customer Service
I purchased this Atlas from FairRC on Amazon, then the unit sat on the shelf in my garage for a few months. I decided to give it to my nephew as a present. Once he got around to using it, you gad to be right next to the truck for the transmitter and receiver to work. I also have an older Atlas and bound my old transmitter to the new Atlas and it worked better, but not as it should. Because I was outside of the 90 day window, FMS would do nothing for me. I have been into RC for a long time and I am not new to Tx/Rx issues. All brands have them from time to time. The real trick is how they handle the issues. I installed my old receiver into his truck and gave it back to him. All smiles and totally worth it. I am now stuck having to purchase and install new electronics into my old Atlas. I have had around 12 FMS / RocHobby rigs and this is the only one I have had issues with. That being said, I will NEVER purchase a new one again. There are too many fish in the sea and great RC manufacturers out there now.I hope everyone else out there has better service that I, because FMS does have some cool and fun little rigs.Edit 3/9 - After contacting a US based customer service rep, I am happy to report that warranty parts are being sent to me, to try and fix the issue. It will be nice to get this little rig crawling again!!!Edit 3/20 - The replacement parts arrived and fixed this little truck. The US based customer service rep really stepped it up and I hope they continue to have this level of customer service. FMS really does have some fine machines, so I think it is great they are stepping it up a bit.

Don't waste your money....
We bought two of these for our kids. The trucks quickly stopped working.... From reading online, it is likely that the transmission and or gears went put or were going bad.... One lasted for maybe 2 or 3 hours of use. The other came out of the box not working correctly and quickly all but stopped moving. It was ran maybe 30min inside the house....Look on the Facebook page for these things and you will quickly realize that these are common issues. If you get it, plan on spending $$ to upgrade things like the transmission, gears etc.....

It doesn't get better than this! If it does, get that too!
The 1/18 scale is a "BEAST" straight up! If you're looking for a really, really good scale crawler, look no further! I pretty much have all the major players and this is the "BEST" of the best! Balance, Scale looks, handling and fun rate? All top notch!
