I did have to grab pliers and use a little elbow grease to pull the rod out far enough to reach the bracket. Not a huge deal, just something to know going in. I was able to do it myself without help. Once it was on, it worked exactly how I wanted it to. I adjusted the speed pretty easily and now the door closes smoothly instead of slamming. For context, we actually have both a top and bottom closer on our door, and this one works really well as part of that setup. It feels sturdy, and we’ve noticed a real difference since putting it on. We’re in the Chicago suburbs and the wind can get pretty strong here, and this has definitely helped keep the door from flying open or slamming like it was when our old one broke. Any ideas on how to fix?** A: Hello, Hook the rod up to the jamb bracket and insert the pin. Make sure your hand is off the button and give the cylinder a quick pull. This will allow the rod will release back into the cylinder. The V2012WH will lock into an open position any time that the button is pressed. To get your door to release, you give your door a quick push further open. This gives the rod a small tug and then the rod will release back into the cylinder and your door will close. **Q: I have a v2010 on a security door and would like to replace it with this v2012. Would I be able to use the same screw holes?** A: The screw holes on the two closers would be slightly different. The V2010 has a 12-11/16" bracket spacing and the V2012 has a 12-3/4" bracket spacing. **Q: How far out does the door open button protrude? I see that's an issue for some buyers as it doesn't fit between the doors.** A: At a guess, the button protrudes about an inch. It is indeed a problem if you install between 2 closing doors. It is a great idea, but also the reason why I had to remove it from my screen door. I left it in place through summer months when internal door could remain open, but once it became colder, I couldn't close internal door with the screen closed. Also, the screen door must be a strong, heavier construction, as the more flimsy doors don't work so well.
