Heavy-Duty Aluminum T-Square for Art, Framing & Drafting, 36-inch

This lays flat to the paper. Much better than the others that leave a gap that catches on everything.

I bought the heavy duty 36" square.I was a bit hesitant to buy this product because there were a number of reviewers that didn't think it was square or that the measurements were inaccurate. And I bought the heavy duty one since a number of people thought it was flimsy.I felt it was quite sturdy. Perhaps because it was the heavy duty one.Absolutely square. I checked it against a 24" square and it was dead on.And accurate. I measured it against two of my measuring tools and it was perfect.So if you had issues with yours, I would return it. Perhaps a quality control problem, but they are quite capable of making them perfect.

UGH! When I placed the order, I thought I had read enough reviews, but I clearly didn't. It is not square, which for my purposes I can make do, but as other's have posted, it's enough to create costly mistakes and if I wanted to compensate for errors in measurements, I could have saved my money and used a yardstick.Also, based on the one close-up photo, I thought this item went down to x/32 marks, which I wanted. But it turns out those tick marks are only on the first 6" of the tool, so -- NOT HELPFUL. So frustrated.While not hideously expensive, it isn't a cheap item either and I already recycled the box, so by the time I buy a box it will fit in to return, it's hardly worth it.

Over a 24" run it's about a quarter inch off square. This is a simple tool with one primary function: Make an exact 90 degree angle; and a secondary function: Make an exact measure.I'm pretty ticked off about how misleading it is. I've owned it for almost two months now, and after it causing me a string of carpentry problems that have cost a lot of hours with re-cuts and other adjustments, finally today I decided I would calibrate it with two other squares (one is pictured). These two other squares align without visible difference. As you can see in the image, this one does not align visibly.Its measure scale is accurate, so it gets a star for that, and the build quality is good, so another star for that. But it loses a full three stars for being not square. I feel I'm maybe being too generous giving it two stars, because it's unusable.

Haven't used it yet but it is really heavy duty so I'm not worried about it bending or becoming loose or anything

The square part of this is plastic. For forty bucks i expected metal. The darn thing will break if i bang it, melt if i heat it, and dissolve if I get acetone on it. Bunch of junk.
