Core i7-3720QM Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz)

Okay.So I do tend to keep my computers for a while. I don't go out and buy new equipment the moment mine technically becomes "obsolete" (or "obsolescent," I guess). I have two Acer Aspire E1 series laptops, both of which shipped with Intel Pentium 2020M processors from stock. These processors can manage two threads.The one need that tends to become greater as the years progress and the equipment doesn't is time. I figured that I'd upped the RAM in my laptop from 8 GB to 16 GB, but there was more I could do in order to get the most out of my laptop, at least until such time as I decide to retire it and move onto something more contemporary.Enter the processor swap.Yes, in my case, I had to practically take the whole laptop apart, but, believe it or not, I know it seems like a daunting task but if you're methodical about it, it's really not difficult at all.Once you get to the processor, removal is as easy as the quarter-turn of a screw and lifting it out of the socket. Installation of the new one is as easy as reversing that very procedure and, of course, adding the proper thermal paste to the heat spreader (usually a bare metal area on the outward-facing facet of the processor, intended to dissipate heat and transfer it to your cooling mechanism...the thermal paste hastens the transfer of heat to the cooling apparatus).My computer recognized the processor immediately and I have noticed some appreciable performance gains as a result.I'm not a gamer or anything, though those tasks I use the computer for can be resource-heavy at times. This has made my use of those utilities much more enjoyable as I'm not sitting there waiting for the little blue circle to stop whirlygigging until the processor gets an open channel to process a thought.
