After doing some research into these fiber-based dishes, unless they're disposable, they will be made with some plastic mixed with it. This is what makes them durable and long lasting. If you're looking for something to avoid plasticware, these aren't it. However, they are lightweight (great for carpal tunnel pain to have such light dishes!) and the black color is striking and chic. We've had them for a while now, and I think they're nice plates. But do you want to pay this for plastic plates? You have to ask yourself that.

This is so much nicer than using paper or foam plates. As long as you don't push super hard with your knife, they don't scratch, I'm sure I'm time they will. That is expected.Definitely made with quality, and the paint after many heavy bleached washes in the dishwasher holds up and still is bold.Definitely purchasing more in the future!

I bought them for my boyfriend who just moved into his first home and he wanted everything new and black to match the granite counter tops in his kitchen. He wanted something that was durable and microwavable. He was impressed by the soft wash cloth that was packed hidden within the wash cloths. However, he said the plates get overly hot in the microwave. His words "blistering hot" as the heat radiates right thru the pot holders.

these plates do get hot quick in the microwave. If you just want to warm them up heat them 4 sec.

Purchased these for a theme dinner. They look great but after yhe first dinner they were scratched up. They are very lightweight & don't seem like they would break if you dropped them so might work for a little kids plate.

These plates are well built and of great quality. Plus it looks really nice. I use it for plating and it’s of perfect size and color. I wasn’t sure how it will be, but after using it I can honestly say it is of great quality.

UPDATE: 3 plates from this set have exploded or cracked down the center when put in the microwave. The first plate was damaged on first use. The second was damaged after a handful of uses. And the third lasted us nearly a year before a put it in the microwave for 90 seconds and it split down the center.It’s worth mentioning we don’t often microwave the plates, so these won’t stand up to very many spins in your microwave.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Put this in the microwave for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The center exploded and the pieces got all over the food on the plate, naturally. Photo shows the hole in the plate and part of the piece that blew off.

The plates made my guest feel like we were at a high class restaurant. The meal was good too
