‘In the early 19th century the Dodgers were called the Robins. Why?’
Author Ray Walker steps up to the plate as a sports enthusiast and data expert with this fresh compendium of entertaining and illuminating facts about the Los Angeles Dodgers. Though everyone knows the team, even those us who are not baseball aficionados, this well written book flows with facts and trivia that both amaze and entertain. Ray has also written CRAZY SPORTS STORIES, and this book continues his series of Sports Trivia books that include the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, the Boston Bruins, the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Chicago Cubs so it becomes readily apparent that not only is his knowledge of baseball keen, but also hockey and football. In his introductory comments Ray states, ‘The Los Angeles Dodgers – one of the original franchises in the National League, and surely one of the best ever in the entire glorious history of Major League Baseball (although archrival San Francisco Giant fans might want to argue a bit about that claim). …the Los Angeles Dodgers are extra special. There’s no place in the world to play baseball like their massive home park, Dodger Stadium in Chavez Ravine, filled with screaming Los Angelinos. And, since the Dodgers arrived out west, they seem to have just become better and better…Next year, the LA Dodgers will celebrate 138 years of existence at (or near!) the peak of the baseball world…’And with that impetus for learning some of the facts about this team, the session (aka ‘game’) begins. Each chapter – Origins and History, What’s in a Name, Famous Quotes, Dodger records, How About a Trade? Chat about Stats, Draft Day, Pitcher and Catcher Tidbits, Odds and Ends, Who’s on First? Who’s got Second, Who’s at the Hot Corner? What’s at Short? The Outfield Gang and The Heated Rivalries - is delivered in the form of quiz questions followed (of course) by quiz answers and embellished by even more trivia in a Did You Know? section. For knowledgeable fans and those who would like to become knowledgeable, this book is a fine resource. Impress friends and acquaintances with in depth knowledge of America’s favorite sport. Grady Harp, October 20

This Is An Exciting And Fun Book To Read.
I liked this book because it was exciting and fun to read. I got this book for my personal reading pleasure. This is an interesting book about the Dodgers baseball team. Some of the interesting information mentioned in this book includes the following information: The Dodgers have won six World Series Championships in their history. Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Don Drysdale batted .300 and hit seven homers during his MVP season in 1965. Sanford “Sandy” Koufax at the age of 36 years old became the youngest player ever elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Dodger Stadium is the largest existing baseball stadium in terms of seating capacity. It has the nickname of Blue Heaven. Dodgers pitching star Don Drysdale was born in Van Nuys. One of his famous classmates in High School was Robert Redford. Sandy Koufax was the first MLB pitcher to pitch four no-hitters games. Steve Garvey is one of only two MLB players to go to the All-Star Game as a result of write-in votes.
