Le Creuset Salt Mill, 8" x 2 1/2", Flame

This is ideal for making soups, stews, chillies, and similar. It is well made and distributes heat evenly. The label came off easily with a quick squirt of WD40 and fine blade. It's my go to pot now. Depending on how many you are cooking for you may go for a larger size.

I originally bought a pair of salt and pepper grinders during a sale period - the price is after all pretty hefty. I was really pleased with them, they worked consistently and evenly for years, they were easy to clean and robust. The pepper mill I still have, but I had to replace the salt mill because the screw thread at the top, where you loosen the thumb nut to take the cap off to refill, became salt-corroded, and the thread stripped, and I couldn't tighten the top to grind any longer. Having bought the replacement at full price (ouch) I found that the problem is totally avoided if you simply rub the thread carefully with a dab of olive or 3-in-1 oil every time you refill. Winner.
