Works as described and in emergencies.
I am so tired of “Love it!” reviews. Here is the review that I wish I had before I ordered this product. This product is worth buying and works as described. The photo shows how many water holes are in the shower head compared to other camp showers. The shower comes with a hook for the shower head, but the hose is too short for my 5’7” height because the pump part must stay in the water bucket if the bucket is on the ground. I like this product and would recommend it to friends and family. That’s the short story. Keep reading for a detailed review. For those who value detailed honest product reviews, here’s my story: I ordered this portable shower product a year ago and practiced using it for car camping. Yesterday, I fell at home and broke my ankle bones on both sides of the ankle. Yeah, bummer right? So my downstairs does not have a shower or tub and I really wanted a shower because the ankle dressing is not supposed to get wet. I used a big clean plastic trahbag to protect the dressing and proceeded to shower with the Ivation Portable Outdoor shower. This review is based on my experience with the portable shower in a real world environment. I had stand by assistance from a family member. I threw on the floor a couple of towels and the standby person put a commode chair on top. I put the uninsured foot into a large plastic basin. I had additional dry towels purchased on Amazon nearby. I used a few drops of concentrated Dr. Bonner peppermint soap which can be ordered on Amazon in several scents and unscented. The bathroom sink was filled with water and a tiny bit of Dr. Bonner liquid soap. Making some water mess, I proceeded to shower. Very few drops of water went outside the towel barrier. This is what I liked: 1) The hose was long enough to reach wherever I needed it to go. I am approximately 5’7” and had to bend for the water to reach my hair. The hose has water in it even when out of the water. Having the water basin and faucet at waist height was great and I recommend raising the basin for any use if you are tall so the hose can wash your hair. 2) The charge is through USB which makes it easy charge with a laptop, or other USB outdoor device. The device was not charged for a year and the shower was still strong. 3) The water flow can be stopped by folding the hose to kink it. As long as the pump at the bottom is in water, the water will flow. It took two hands to fold the hose. The hose is strong and thick. 4) The on off switch is on the pump opposite side of the USB plus and is simple to operate. There is a strong plastic cap on the switch. The cap must be pulled off to see the push button switch. 5) A gallon of water can provide a full shower. I used two gallons for a shower and to wash my hair. If I was more efficient, I could have used less water. 6) This shower with lots of shower holes can be used as a shower system for people and pets. It is a more efficient use of water. Start with very warm but not scalding water because the water cools as it leaves the hose. Be sure to check the water temperature before allowing children and the aged to use the shower. Use common sense. 7) For camping - this portable shower system is a yes. A black bag can cover the water to heat it with solar or water from a campfire can be used. Please use caution with hot water. For backpacking, it may add too much weight - but if the big shower feeling gets the family outdoors, the weight is worth the end result of happy campers. 8) Power outages, natural disasters, emergency medical, natural disasters, building and construction sites may find the shower device helpful. 9) I’m unsure how long it takes the device to charge, but can say that my device maintained a strong charge for almost a year in storage. 10) If showering while standing in a basin and using a biodegradable biologically neutral soap, soapseed, the water can be poured out in specific area without harming nature. These soaps are sold on Amazon. I do not know if they will harm the device. I used Dr. Bonner. Oils are slippery. I did not use oils in the water and recommend not using oils in the water. Use oils, lotions and creams after the shower and wear socks untucks lotions and oils are absorbed into the feet. Don’t fall. What I did not like: 1) The entire pump includes the on off switch and USB recharge port. The entire unit goes into the water. At some point water will enter the component and cause the device to stop working. I think the manufacturer should rethink having everything underwater or create a longer warranty. 2) The on/off switch which is hidden under a grey cap is awarkward to reach down into the water to turn off to power each time you need to stop the device to soap up or scrub yourself. There is no other way to stop the water flow except to reach down into the water to push to on/off button or kink the hose. The entire device looks sleek, but the trade-off is extra bending to turn off the device and water flying everywhere while trying to balance oneself on one foot to reach into the clean water and turn off the device. The grey cap must be removed to turn the device on or off. The grey cap does not appear to create a water seal around the on/off switch and may be confusing to users. I first saw this device on a YouTube channel called CheapRVLiving. I recommend going to that channel to watch that video on comparing outdoor showering devices. If you found this review helpful, please give it a click. The helpful votes help improve my writing. One of my sons said that “nobody” reads long reviews. He said people just want quick statement if the product works or not. I enjoy showing him the helpful vote numbers add up because it shows him that you kept reading to the end. I am encouraging him to spend more time reading the actual reviews instead of looking only at the stars to reduce the amount of exchanges and returns he makes. The reviews help people know what they are buying so they are satisfied customers.

Another update 3 years Updated 18 months later: still going strong. Great option for home shower.. without hoses on the faucet
Another update almost 3 years and still going strong. No worse for wear and in great working order with use 2 to 3 times per week. Still holding a good charge too. UPDATE 1.5 years later: So, still at the house with the iron infused water. I am STILL using this same unit. I use it probably 2-3 times a week. I have to charge it maybe once a month. It is in 100% perfect condition just as I purchased the unit. I don't always use the distilled water, sometimes the water labeled "drinking water" and I have had great results and my highlighted hair stays true to color. My stylist has been amazed at how well my coloring holds up between appointments. I definitely would tell people to buy this shower set up. It would definitely last you through a weekend camping too since I only have to recharge mine about once a month.. or maybe longer. It isn't a huge rush of water, but it does the trick for washing and rinsing my hair and it would be fine for a camp shower. The only thing I could suggest be improved is the shape of the unit. I have to tip the bucket to not lose suction when it gets towards the bottom. If it were sucking from the bottom, maybe with short legs to keep it a bit above the bottom of the bucket, it would be a little easier to use, but that really isn't a huge issue for me. I would not hesitate to tell someone to buy it. I bought this unit because I have a real problem with ferrous iron in my well water. The cost of a treatment system for my water is going to run well over a thousand dollars! The problem is that I also have highlighted hair. Anyone with blond highlights and iron in their water knows the nighmare of bozo orange hair! Not only does the water leave rusty deposits on my hair that impact the color.. even the texture and strength of my hair is compromised. So, I finally decided that I could no longer wash my hair in the well water. It was just flushing money down the drain. Just deciding to not have highlights wouldn't be a good option either.. cause the tinting issue and texture would still happen... just a little less noticeable.. So, I decided to wash my hair with distilled water. The first couple of times I just used a scoop and poured it over my head while I leaned over the bath tub. Dang it was COLD and uncomfortable. Then, I decided to heat the water a little on the stove.. not as cold.. but still uncomfortable and always ended up with water in my ears that took a long time to clear. That's when I saw this. BINGO.. problem solved. I just fill a container with a gallon of warmed distilled water and put it away from the shower stream and can wash my hair. The suction cup stays up great on the shower wall and the spray is gentle but good enough to rinse my hair. I am so glad I got this!

Great for emergencies or temporary use
It’s held up pretty well. I will say that there is some things you’ll have to figure out in terms of how to mount it on a wall if you need to. The hook that was included was a bit awkward and difficult to place anywhere. The device it self works great, battery life has been good so far, just make sure you’ve got enough water in your bucket for your needs. I used this in Philippines where we had no running water for the bathroom. We had a collection of water in barrels and I had to pause the device in between shampoo and rinsing just to conserve the water. Pressure is pretty great as well.

I didn’t want to spend this much on a portable shower, and was worried it would be flimsy and not very powerful. Boy was I surprised! I bought this to allow me to wash my 42kg Labrador outside in the garden, he is too big to lift into the bath, hates being washed and I have to ferry loads of buckets of warm water to and from the kitchen, as I don’t want to use a cold water garden hose. This shower is a game changer, and makes bi-monthly bath time so much easier. I filled a large garden grid from the cold hosepipe, topped it up with 3 kettles of boiling water - inserted the shower pump and managed to wash and rinse my dog in under 30mins. I didn’t even need that much water, despite using lots of shampoo and giving him a good rinse afterwards. It’s brilliant, and providing the battery life and recharging capabilities work for a good few years - I reckon it’s worth every penny! I did research lots of reviews of outdoor showers before choosing this one - and it got great reviews online and in product tests for camping magazines
