Excellent for the price!
I’m no expert, but I’ve used bladed tools (knives, axes and saws) since I was a youngling and would consider myself to be a fairly knife handy person. From bushcraft to whittling/wood carving, I’ve at least dipped my toes in the waters of many of the tasks that one would use a blade to accomplish. Being a newcomer to the realm of wood carving, I’ve learned more than I’d ever thought I could know about getting and keeping a blade sharp, and how different steel types take and keep an edge. With that bit of rambling out of the way, I’ll get to what you actually want to know. I decided it was time to purchase a machete like tool to clear some brush on my fence line and trim back some ornamental trees that had grown out of control. After reviewing the available options, I decided to go with a hook shaped blade to give me the ability to use pulling cuts as well as swinging cuts. Most of the options available were at least twice the price of this item, so when I saw it listed in the suggested items, I had to click. It seemed to fit my criteria well, so I ordered 2, given the price.Though I generally try to avoid buying blades that companies have offshored manufacturing thereof to China, this blade came across as one that was unashamedly Chinese, which I found more palatable (no masquerading as something having an origin it does not). After spending some time with these tools, I have to say, the manufacturer of this product has every right to be proud of what they are providing consumers like me!It’s a no frills tool that looks and feels like it was made for the working class to get work done. And that it did! While it arrived with a usable sharp edge, I always at least strop any blade I buy before using it. With just minimal sharpening, I was cleaving off 1/2” branches with little effort and cleanly slicing dandelion flower stems with just a gentle swing. By the end of that day, I found this tool could serve the role of knife, axe and even grabber. The tool hacked through several 2-3” branches better than my Fiskers camp axe, cleanly sliced the twigs and foliage off of the straight limbs I decided I’d use for future carving projects, and saved my back by allowing me to hook felled branches and drag them away with minimal bending over.I can also say they will hold and take an edge well and the steel is must be decently hard. My son used one to clear the fence line while I trimmed up the trees. I personally witnessed him wacking chain link fence (including the posts) repeatedly while attempting to remove vines the had weaved their way through the links. I was sure the edge of the tool he used would be badly dented by the end of the day, but to my surprise, they was only one faintly distinguishable mark near the blade tip!I would highly recommend wearing cut resistant gloves while using one of these, as they are sharp (especially with a little work with a stone and strop). To reduce potential for turning the sickle into a boomerang if my grip were to slip, I drilled holes in the handle (near the end opposite the blade) and tied in a loop of shock cord for use as a lanyard. This gave the added ability of letting the tool hang safely from my arm without having to set it down somewhere when a task required two free hands to accomplish. If you’re looking for a tool that does the things I mentioned above, just buy one already (or maybe 2). If you get what I got, I don’t see how you could possibly be disappointed.

Works well
Works great, wish it had a long handle to it but I was able to attach a longer wooden handle to it and make it work for clearing weeds without being in the thick of them , especially useful for high stalk weeds.

WOW
With days of constant rain, my grass in the backyard was waist tall. The ground was too wet for my mower. I needed something that could help eliminate the tall grass until the ground was more manageable. This clearing sickle did exactly what it said it can do. I did have to play with the angle of the blade to get the perfect cut. However, it was easy once I had a few swings. I did have to wear cut resistant gloves just to be safe. Plus, the handle was made of sturdy hard plastic. I do love the bright orange for the handle though since I placed it down a few times to gather the tall cut grass. It would have been lost in the tall grass had it been a dark color. The best part, it took me less time with this tool than it would have taken me to mow. I also loved free organic mulch (tall cut grass) for my fruit trees. I can take care of my yard at 6am on Sundays and it would not wake any neighbors up. Worth every penny! Thank YOU!

Works, lightweight, not very sharp
To call this a machete is perhaps technically true. It's more of a lightweight, curved, thin machete. It is good for cutting weeds, though, but not thicker growth as a heavier machete would. It could also do to be sharper than it is, although that would also make it more dangerous while hacking away. It's a useful tool, and the ugly orange plastic handle does make it easier to find.
