This was the first Bruder toy that I purchased for my then three year old son, and made Bruder the go to toy company for my sons toys. This forklift was amazing value and was actually a lot bigger than I thought it would be given the price. The forks move up and down with a nifty motion involving string or elastic which appear very duralble. The forks can also be widened or moved closer together depending on what you are picking up, and the whole fork assembly also tips forwards and backwards for balance! The forklift also has rear wheel steering that can be controlled by a knob on the back of the forklift, and it comes with two pallets for lifting too! The only potential downside I noticed was that although the forks could be widened, there was nothing to stop them falling off of you widened them to far, and sure enough the forks got misplaced! I thought all was lost until I found out that Bruder sell spare parts for their toys, including forks for this forklift! Which fit just like the originals! No more disposing of toys, and this forklift is still going strong! Please note the winch on the rear of the forklift did not come with this toy but with the replacement forks set!

We bought this for our two year old who is really into forklift trucks. We were genuinely surprised at the quality of this toy. The forklift mechanism is just a little more sophisticated than you would think, and I'm sure it's holding our toddlers attention because of it. It's also a nice size a weight, not to big that it is awkward or hard for him to carry around, but big enough that he really gawks at the details. It has counter-geared steering on the back wheels, which makes it challenging for him to drive and so is likely to push him developmentally. It also has a nice lifting mechanism with the pallet, which makes it very realistic. We were very excited to find a fairly substantial booklet of other toys by this maker and a brief glance indicates that their other toys appear to show a similar level of design and quality. We will definitely be revisiting that for future birthdays and Christmas gifts. When the toy was first out of the box some of the features were a bit stiff for little hands, but they've loosened up now and work beautifully. It's not for every 2 year old, as it does require a little patience and is plastic, so could break if tossed around, but otherwise a great toy.
