Catit Senses 2.0 Digger Interactive Slow Feeder

I have two cats, a tiny nibbler and a massive gobbler. My smaller cat is half the size of the larger one, and before I got the other one I would free feed her and she would just graze throughout the day. Once I got my other cat, it didn't take long to see that wasn't gonna work anymore. He isn't a fat cat, he's just especially big for a cat, and he came from a neglectful owner with lots of cats in a food competitive environment. If I kept their bowls near each other, he would box her out and scarf down one bowl as fast as he could, then start on the other. If I moved them apart, he would smash his and be on top of the other one 15 seconds after I filled it. My little cat didn't care, so she would just let him do it, but then there would be no food left for her when she would come back later. If I kept feeding them, he would keep eating both of their food until he puked. He was never aggressive about it because she never gave him any resistance, but he would make it his mission to make sure nobody got to eat but him. I got the Catit digger and the tree, and they have both been super effective. Now I just feed their vet recommended amount split up 3x a day, and they both just pick at the food. It took about a week for them to not need help, during that time I was putting food in the plastic dish around the toy as well as inside. I also started the digger without the green cups in the holes, that way they had an easier time seeing the food and practicing grabbing it. They both learned the digger MUCH faster than the tree, but now he prefers the digger and she likes the tree, which is ideal. At first I thought he wasn't overeating because he is too lazy to get the food, but I've seen him walk away from a few kibbles enough times to know that isn't the case, so part of the success could just be him realizing he didn't have to worry about going hungry anymore and unrelated to the product. But even if that were the case, they both seem to have fun using their new food dishes, and they aren't even asking for more food than they're supposed to get a day. I'm sure it's nice to get them engaged in foraging for their food, and they've absolutely got better coordination as a result of using this. They can both scoop food out of the digger and bring their paw directly to their mouths after about 3 months of using it, and I've seen some experiments with how doorknobs work that look a lot like the reach and scoop technique they use on the tower. It's also pretty easy to clean, and the base stops it from scooting. I'd recommend both, but if you had to just get one I would probably go with the digger.

This unit is a lot of pieces. The gray mat underneath is a separate piece that comes apart often (daily), and the green cups are not attached. I had to solve that immediately as the cats scattered the cups noisily all over the place. I used 3m double sided automotive tape (which I already had) to keep the cups in place. It takes about 2-3 days for the cats to get used to eating from the feeder. As the title indicates, I ordered the unit to entertain my two Savannah juvenile cats - to slow down their eating, and to make their food last longer - and thus, entertain them longer. They require a lot of entertaining! I also ordered the other feeder the same maker makes, the cat Tree slow feeder, for the domestic cat in my house - I figured I could trade out the feeders if I wanted (but I also thought the Savannahs might be a little rough on the tree style feeder). At this time, the Savannahs are enjoying the Digger feeder just fine, now that the cups are fastened down. As I said, the gray mat thing is moved all of the place, and I do have to adjust that often. The cats have no problem pulling the food out, and the domestic cat will eat from it also. They like it, and the same amount of food lasts longer and they don't wolf it down. They seem to take the time to get full sooner. Consensus: Both of the feeders are a great idea! Great for cats that need to lose weight, and great to entertain bored cats - if you leave for the day for work, or have high maintenance cats like Savannahs :)

The concept of this cat feeder is fantastic. My cat is on the heavier side, and will meow very loudly non stop until he gets what he wants (food). If we ignore the meows, he’ll start aggressively scratching the furniture knowing we dislike it. His favorite thing to do is eat and even if he has eaten a whole meal, he wants more.. even if it makes him throw up. Well, I asked a vet what I should do about his overeating habit and one of the options was a puzzle feeder like this one. I chose this one due to the better reviews. My senior cat was able to figure it out in less than a day. However, we took out the green cups as it was hard for him to reach his paws in it. I like that with this digger he has to take his time eating the food pieces and can’t inhale it all at once. The thing is now that he is used to it, he flings his food across the floor, so the mat doesn’t help much. I also wish it was a little more compact and more neutral colors as it looks like something from outer space in our kitchen where he prefers to eat. Even though he ends up flinging it all over the place it provides him with a new activity that keeps him busy. Overall though it’s a great product and I would definitely recommend trying it with any cat that overeats or needs a diet.

Five stars because not only is it a great product, the box itself is so cute - you cut out the holes that are marked and put treats in and the cats go wild over it, its ridiculous how much fun my two kitties are having with that thing. So I hoped this would help solve the problem of our male cat stealing all the food, even with two food bowls, he would always go to whichever bowl she was at and get in her way so he could gobble down, not caring if his sister starved and yes, this really did help. I pour their kibble in the cups and Diesel digs out a bunch at a time (not one at a time like other reviewers have said). The food scatters (not far) and this gives his sister a chance to eat without diesel stealing it. She doesn't like to dig for the food herself, she'd rather let him do it, but I've caught her going for it a couple times when Diesel isn't around. Theres usually stray kibble arounf the cups and some inside so i know the kitties are walking away full and not still hungry. My kittens are about 4 months old and Diesel started digging the food out as soon as we started using it. A treat in each cup got him started right away in using it and practice over the next couple days made him an expert. That very first day, though, Diesel hated me. He stared me down, begging me to just take this thing away. The next morning I found a little turd in the middle of the room where their litter boxes are. A silent protest. That was the only time it happened, thank god. Now he's perfectly well adjusted. He does eat a little slower now with this so im not worried about any vomiting issues later that he was on his way to develop at the rate he was going. It helps him not to eat as much as he was before, too. He was gaining weight really fast since we adopted them only two weeks ago. This is our main feeder now for dry kibble.

We bought this for our cats, mainly the one who always wants food and inhales food like a kid inhales ice cream. The cats were initially interested in it, but didn’t know what to do. After a week of them not getting it/losing interest, we removed the green tubes as others have suggested. This was the key move. Our cat who we wanted to use it, finally did (we can’t fill it too high or she’ll eat the food like it’s in a bowl, so less is better if you want them to use their paws). We put her diet food in it and she would go to it as needed throughout the day and night. The other two cats couldn’t care less about it and never used it. We did try to put the green tubes in it after she started using it, but for whatever reason, the green tubes are a fail. She refuses to pull food out of them so we are re-purposing them as bird feeders. Pros: ~ Price ~ if your cat learns to use it, it’s great ~ easy to clean ~ the box it came in amused one of our cats for a while (you cut out the holes and put a toy or two in) Cons: ~ rubber that goes around the edge really doesn’t do anything (at least not for us), it came bunched up and looks like crap (never straightened out), and is difficult to place on and keep on. If the makers are looking for something to stop the moving of the bowl (which we didn't even have an issue with), they need to consider something that would clip on the edges. Haven't come up with a use for re-purposing the rubber yet... ~ only 1 of the 3 cats got it or even cared about it (but at least it was the one we wanted to use it) Overall, it’s OK. It’s not Catit’s fault 2 of the 3 cats could care less about it, right? For the price, I’d say give it a try if you have a fast eater, a cat who constantly bothers you for food, or looking for something to amuse your cats.

This was so awesome until my cat figured out how to take the tubes off and take the food out all at once.

Alyssa has always been fascinated with anything which challenges her in some way and gets her special attention. We had a more complicated treat dispenser but it was large and I mean large. And only Alyssa played with it anyway, getting all the treats out of the hiding places. A bit of background: We are Alyssa's NINTH change in housing. As a Snowshoe, I guess people didn't want to "put her down," because of her obviously fabulous beauty. But she was a biter. Yep! Handed back and forth from owner back to her foster home several times, we took Alyssa home for good, her NINTH change since being born! I would not bring a ca home any other way. These precious beings are not a broken food chopper you can just take back to the store because of a manufacturing shortcut. And I figured that if I could teach eighth grade gifted students for years, I could certainly work with Alyssa to stop her nibbling human flesh for whatever reason she was doing it. But if I had been such a foster cat, maybe I would have felt like biting and not trusting people too! And so, a quick study, she learned that attention would IMMEDIATELY be turned away from her if she started to nibble on my hand. To me, these were NOT bites as maybe she had been doing with other people, but really love nibbles. Maybe her intentions had been misinterpreted. Maybe people were scared her next nibble would break the skin. Whatever. The "extinguishing" of the behavior worked. OK, every once in a while, even now, she gives the sweetest little, bitty nibble. It is a kiss. That's the way I look at it. There is not even one ounce of meanness in it, but an unspoken, "I'm here. You are here. This is a good thing." There is also a Russian Blue male in the home which has a very strong and demanding personality. He gets what he wants out of charm or trickery. And Pretty came home with us the day we brought Alyssa home. Pretty had been in a hoarding situation and a little bit people shy even today, but every day makes more progress. Her treats have to be divided out separately and away from the others. And there's Colby. Colby was adopted too, after being kept in a cage in some forsaken place for six months as a kitten. He is only four years old but has the aching body of an old, old cat from arthritis caused by the caged situation. Colby is a cuddly black bear and sweet, sweet, sweet. Colby and Blue go one on one to get the next treat but share pretty well, considering. So we have a real mixed bag of cats, don't we? And our loved children, they are, down to each and every last hair. But back to Alyssa. When this "Digger" arrived, I set it aside from the usual tossing of the treats toward the cats and dropped a few treats in the cups as Alyssa sat beside it. I left one on the white shelf part of it. She saw it immediately and how easy it was to paw off and into her mouth. And the very next second after wolfing that treat, she saw, sniffed, and DUG those treats out, one at a time. Each cup, varying slightly in width and depth, demanded a new position from to fenagle her paws just so. This way of getting Alyssa HER treats, is our special thing. Now, when I walk into the room and near the Digger, she immediately sits beside it waiting for HER share of the treats. The others go about their usual way getting their usual share of treats, but Alyssa and I kind of have this secret. The Digger is hers, alone. She knows it. I know it. She feels very special to have this additional fun in her new miniaturized hunting activity. This Digger is Alyssa's. There's no sharing HER share of the "cookies"! Now really, two cats could share this Digger. But it would be tight, especially if the cats feel the need to scoot around to a different position to dig out a treat. IDEALLY, one Digger per cat would work for sure. But Alyssa's and my secret works just fine for us. Not just a hand-out, she EARNS her treats and has fun doing it. Hint for making this work for your cat(s): Put one treat on the white "shelf" part of the Digger and one or more treats in each cup and stand back. You MAY have to put your fingers in the cups and rattle them to get their attention to sniff around or look into the cups to see the pay dirt. But they WILL catch on easily enough. It is fun for you to watch and fun for them for the mental/physical stimulation.

This is an awesome interactive feeder/ treat giver to keep our beloved pets entertained & get them more 'interactive' with their food/ treats so they don't wolf it down in under 60 seconds ! Only 1 of my cats really loves this & it's the FAT one - which is PURRFECT ! He will paw it for 10ish minutes, 'obtain ' his treats & walks to/from it several times a day. * the ONLY issue I had was with the mat which came w/ the feeder which is supposed to 'hold the unit' in place - it was folded in quarters & the groves intended to fit the bottom to the unit to secure it to the device were bent/ damaged as a result & although I was able to get the mat 'flattened' over the course of a few days, the circular groove was not going to straighten out. Fast forward - I contacted customer service directed online & they sent me an unfolded bottom mat & now, it 'connects' & the unit doesn't move all over the room when forceful paws are DETERMINED to obtain what's inside the cups. I highly recommend this interactive (cat )unit & can't say enough about the excellent & extremely responsive customer service received ! It's clear CATIT stands behind its products & I highly recommend this & their attention & responsiveness to their consumers. I will be checking their other pet products, since aside from them being well very well made & durable, they stand behind their items - full stop. I did read in other reviews, ( before ordering), the same issue regarding the bottom mat not holding the device in place. I found however that a mat which is not folded in the original shipping box, DOES secure the device. A reviewer resolved issue of unit being moved around w/ masking tape - however, I didn't want to tape this to any 1 spot since I'd like to move it to different areas. I am NOT a paid reviewer & can say that this is a very reputable company who stands behind what they sell. My FAT CAT loves this & we're all purring ! 🐈 😻 I HIGHLY recommend CATIT & this product. Looking forward to seeing what else they make.

This is such a great toy for kitties! Had one for years and gave it away to a foster kitty, so ordered another. Great quality, size, easy to clean. Cats love this if they love puzzles! Great way to get them to eat more slowly.

Staranność wykonania i sam wygląd i kolorystyka jest bez zarzutu. Jednak dla mojego dojrzałego kota wyjadanie z tych kubeczków to przysłowiowa bułka z masłem. Bardzo szybko się z tym uporał a szkoda, że nie jest bardziej "skomplikowana".

Bien embalado. Trae una alfombrilla pero no me ha gustado ya que la forma de encajarla es bastante incómoda. El producto es si esta bien. Mi gato se entretiene sacando su pienso y de momento no ha volcado ningún tarro ( están bien encajados). Lo recomiendo aunque la alfombrilla debería ser de otra forma para darle uso.

Leuk speelgoed om snacks en/of brokjes in te doen voor onze poes. Ze weet alles er prima uit te 'vissen. Als ze langs loopt, kijkt ze af en toe of er nog wat in zit.
