Must-Do Before Installing — Flush Out Carbon Dust First here are easy directions to make your filter cleaner! Before installing make yourself a filter cleaner and cutting the top of the 2 liter bottle wear long sleeve shirt and leather gloves and safety glasses an now drill a small hole in the bottle cap and take a piece of string and tie one end into a knot then run it through the hole in cap then put cap on bottle now cut string about 6” long and tape a black sharpie on to the string and roll the string up onto the sharpie till you have the same circular diameter and rotate around bottle while drawing a line and keeping the string tight and that’s how to get a good reference circle to cut with a small box cutter and save the bottle so you have a filter prep tool and it will work with any brand of filter the same size. A new carbon filter, here's a pro tip that will save you from dumping dirty, black-tinted ice for days. Take an empty 2-liter bottle and cut the top off just enough to hold the filter snugly. Hold it under your kitchen faucet and run warm water backwards through the filter to flush out the loose carbon dust. Let it soak overnight, then flush it one more time. Now it's ready to install!Skip this step and you'll be throwing out dark, carbon-filled ice for at least 2 days. Do this simple prep and you'll have clean, clear, great-tasting ice and water from the very first use. Wish the instructions told you this!!!!
