Osprey Packs Sojourn Wheeled

Airlines suck, as they keep lowering their carry on size. This bag is technically an inch or so taller than some airlines, and multiple inches on the low cost carriers now. I did not have problems but assume I will some day in the future. HOWEVER; where this bag shines is its durability and flexibility. Once I got to Europe I loaded it up and the front expansion and compression straps are amazing. It is so easy to pull on two wheels (not like the 4 wheels) that I only put it on my back a few times so I could lug other luggage. Often Since it is so durable I would stack another less dexterous bag on the handle and carry both. The wheels were great on all surfaces, curbs and bouncing down stairs. We were on multiple flights and this one did better than a Samsonite that got its frame crushed. There were some bruises on the Canvas, so it saw some hard handling, but nothing that compromised it yet. It may have been luck but I really like the design of this product and would like to see them keep the same quality... And make another that will fit the the new carry on sizes... That or we should all push back before carry on limit is the size of a change pouch :)

I've had these for several years now and I can write an honest, tested, review. It is so well thought out with handles, wheel quality, balance, tie-downs, pockets...I could go on with features, but the real test is baggage handlers. Yeah, it takes a beating but functions and looks new. The 45L is perfect for us as it can be compressed down if traveling light, but can expand to carry way more if you go bonkers buying stuff on your trip. The side handle is really great when dealing with railway stairs. Far better to carry as a duffle rather than from the top. Overall, we own only these, use them to death and recommend them highly. Oh, yeah, the backpack straps. We've only used them once, but it is really great to know they're there in a pinch (when you're looking across a sea of cobble stone streets).

The wheels are large and tough. Great for wheeling over the cobblestones in Europe. They're guarded and supported on both sides so they will really take a beating. For longer treks and train use, the backpack function is perfect. While it takes a few minutes to convert to a backpack, it's a very handy feature. The hip-belt provides enough support for all but the longest hikes. The ventilated mesh is a welcome feature. The harness is adjustable to fit most any torso. I'm not talking just strap adjustment but a true torso length adjustment. This is rare for convertible luggage. The dual tube handle is strong and rigid. (I would avoid the single tube type handles for anything but the lightest usage.) The internal and external compression straps work great to hold the contents in place and eliminate excessive bulk. The rigid plastic and aluminum frame gives premium backpack like support, and protection for the contents almost equaling hard sided luggage. The stiff fabric wings protect the contents, keep the pack from collapsing upon itself, yet are flexible enough to match the volume of the contents. Grab handles on the top, bottom and side are convenient for handling from any side on luggage carousels, luggage compartments, and tight spaces. They really thought of everything when they designed and built this luggage. Whether it's an overnight business trip or a week trekking across Europe, this has become my goto luggage.

ある程度の荷物を詰めて海外旅行を考えるとき、スーツケースのセキュリティと頑丈さが必要だけど、国内であれば布製のバッグでもいいかな。メーカーは山登りでもバッグで使っているので安心感あります。個人的に国内のくるまでの旅や出張が多いからそれ用です。パッキングは、整理用の小バッグを使って仕分けしないとスーツケースとちがって混乱しそう。収納のシステムを自分なりに管理できれば問題ないです。 背負うこともないと思うのですが、登山バッグのメーカーなので旅行用として背負っても問題なし。外で使う時間を考えると雨対策のカバーも必要性が低い。その意味でいまのところ不満なし。
