Built my entire computer through Amazon for less than it cost me to buy my Macbook Pro. This is the motherboard I decided on since it had two Ethernet connections that I could dedicate to CNC machines to avoid any crosstalk. By the time I write this I'm sure that they probably have come out with a better board, but what can you do , have to get on the marry-go-round sooner or later. My Case I chose is the Chenbro Rackmount 4U Server Chassis that accepts this board without any issues.Intel i74790 processor, NZXT aperture card reader, Corsair Vengeance 32 GB DDR3 RAM,Samsung slim internal disk drive, Corsair CXM 750 Watt power supply, Samsung 850 pro 512 GB SSD ,TP Link n900 wireless dual band pic express card, NZXT Sentry 3 touch screen fan controller with extra fans. And a killer 4 monitor graphics card that I can't remember what it was now. Couldn't be happier with my setup, Being I haven't built a computer since the mid 90's it was really cool to see this come together without any issues at all, Definitely the way to go if you want a clean computer without any BS software preinstalled from the factory.

I've deducted one star, more for the fact that what comes with this package is a drive and bubble wrap. Nothing else! I don't know about others saying they got an adapter in the box. This was about as raw a unit as you can imagine. At that price, it is nothing special but, that said, is what I need to finish a server build with a slimline ODD space. So, to deal with it, I ran out and got a backplane adapter (SLSATACDADAP - the $11.99 price, not the insane $76 price), also available through Amazon (but needed NOW). The adapter is solidly connected to the drive. I'll update after installation but don't expect any issues.

deducted 1 point due to it being quite noisy.I had a need for a slim profile optical drive in my desktop, and this fit the bill.The amazon description is a bit misleading... the SATA port is actually microSATA. depending on your needs, you might want to add one of these to your order:  Micro SATA Cables - Slimline 13 pin SATA Female to 22 Pin SATA Male Cable Adapter  ... it works fine too.My *only* real hesitation to repurchase this would be caused by the microSATA port, but I think many/most of the slim profile drives use microSATA. so alternate choices may be few.

I can't speak to reliability since the unit was just installed but this drive is a perfect fit CD/DVD R/W replacement for the DVD ROM that was standard on the new Lenovo ThinkServer that I purchased. I need the ability to burn CD's and this drive provided that. I was dismayed when I opened the ThinkServer and discovered that it used a "weird" (as in notebook sized) DVD ROM and that a standard full height DVD ROM or DVD R/W didn't fit properly in the case, both because of the mounting arrangement, the mini-SATA connector, and cooling fan built into the drive carrier. But this Samsung Slim Drive fit precisely in the space allowing the cooling fan to remain in place, plugged properly into the connector built into the carrier, and slid right into place. It also lined up properly with the front plate--it looks like it belongs.

Exactly what I needed and worked perfectly in my mini-ITX build.Cons: Did not include the needed adapter to connect to traditional SATA power and data ports. Also did not include mounting screws. For those that have never used a slim drive before, the screws that are used for mounting are smaller than anything I've ever seen in computers before. Luckily the case I got included the needed screws, otherwise I would have been totally out of luck mounting this thing.

This is the sturdiest slim drive DVD drive that I've ever installed. There is isn't any flimbsy to it, Its solid. Works great in a mini-itx build and I flat like the way it looks and feels. When I do my next build, this is on my list. Great price too! If you need an optical drive for your Mini build, get one, it is worth it to have a drive that is sturdy. (Added 12/23/14) This drive also comes with the adapter in the box, making the addition of slim to SATA cables unnecessary, saving you 5 bucks!

This drive fits just fine in a mini Dell Optiplex 3020, and seems to work as advertised. However, it is noticeably noisier than the drive that it replaced, with a high-pitched whine that is somewhere between annoying and teeth-grating. Fortunately this particular unit will be rarely used. In addition, it *feels* delicate, though I don't have any evidence that it actually is.I don't think I would buy this model again.

I use it in my small build Micro ATX SilverStone PS08 with an adapter, in order to save space (as this case is small).Works good. I don't burn nor use it much, however, so cannot tell about longevity.I installed Win8 using it (having SSD), the installation and loading took less than 25 minutes, so I know it's not extremely slow. Excellent product - but it shuts off after a short time and I have to reload the disc to get it to recognise again. Not sure if that's a problem with this device in general, or just mine, or a Windows problem... don't much care, really. Load the disc, get the data, toss the disc. Does the job nicely.

Perfetto montato in un case mini itx, per chi non lo sapesse bisogna acquistare un adattatore MicroSATA, è il secondo che acquisto ed entrambi funzionano egregiamente.
