The book is marketed as music for the flute but the pieces also work for soprano/tenor and alto recorders. There are a few pieces that require a slight modification for the alto recorder but most work for all recorders. Highly recommended!

I'm a re-beginner adult flute player. These are pretty pieces, fun to play, and organized in slowly increasing difficulty. Since the accompaniments are available online, it's easy to practice them; both with a flute and piano, and with just the piano. My wife is a classical pianist, and I can also try them with her as I'm ready. Really enjoying 'em!

The cover is beautiful. The pieces are easy to read. I have the best of both worlds because I can practice my flute playing as well as my piano playing. The flute notation is written above the piano notation. I'm going to have a lot of fun with this book. The first piece is very easy and the pieces progress from there. It includes the following composers: Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Schumann. I can't wait to get started. I intend to get a really good workout with this book. I'm excited! UPDATE: I forgot to mention that there is a flute insert. This allows the flutist to play using the insert. The pianist can use the book that has the flute notation on top. Therefore, you can play as a solo flutist, or with a pianist. The notation on the flute insert and the book is large. Now...that's just the way I like it! It's beautifully done and you will LOVE it. I will use the book to practice the piano. Then I can record the piano parts and play the flute with the piano in the background. Boy...am I going to have fun!

I am a musician, and teach music lessons, and play several other instruments already, but am brushing up on flute playing, so ordered this book. Overall, I am very pleased with the arrangements, though not as impressed with all of the piano accompaniments. They are fine, but almost all of them are written so similarly as to sound the same with same style, etc. Only a few differ. I would highly recommend this for intermediate level players and up...wouldn't be great for beginners who don't read music well. I do like that it progressively gets more difficult, but none are out of reach in difficulty level as long as you can read music and have a basic knowledge and competence on playing the entire range of notes on the flute. First several songs would be fine for beginner, and all would allow the bettering of tone and technique, if practiced properly and regularly. Very good value for money.

I enjoy using this for my students and it's a good level for beginners.

Want to play short pieces for my friends that don't require exhausting preparation: an intermediate player should find these quite satisfying. The key signatures are minimal and the keyboard arrangements are quite satisfactory. Can be played on soprano and alto recorders as well as the standard flute.

The classical compositions are short : just right for a young flutist.

Easy to read.

I used this book myself as a school kid, now learning again and had to replace the old book, so was really pleased to see this one is still used! Item arrived with great time, and the music well written and easy to improve playing as you progress through the book.
