Rubank Elementary Method Clarinet

I have not played my clarinet in 40 years. My grandbaby is learning so I decided to pick it up again! This takes me back to my foundational days. A great practice book!

I have used this book for 20+ years for my beginner clarinet students. It has stood the test of time and continues to be my top choice!

Well I have to admit I've gotten the book. I'm 67 and I played a clarinet whenever I was in high school. Haven't touched it since and I have to say it is a fantastic book. Just I cannot understand it so it's going to take me a while! Hahaha

This is a great book for beginners. It has a key diagram, exercises and actual songs.

A classic. A little sparse on inatruction. Easy to read music notation, though.

Mio nipote ha da poco iniziato a suonare il clarinetto. l'insegnante gli ha consigliato questo metodo che è strutturato davvero molto bene. Nella parte iniziale ci sono degli esercizi davvero molto semplici per poi passare a cose più complesse come qualche motivetto. Penso che sia un metodo progressivo abbastanza valido..

Erstklassige Schule für Anfänger der Klarinette. Generell würde ich Niemandem raten ohne Lehrer Klarinette zu lernen. Ich unterrichte selber Klarinette und nutze die Schule mit Schülern am Anfang, da hier der Aufbau und die Übungen sehr gut sind. Sehr fundiert. Für jüngere Spieler fehlt es vielleicht etwas an bekannten Melodien und die Schule orientiert sich eher an Klassik aber die Vermittlung von Technik und der Aufbau ist besser als in dem meisten anderen Schulen. Ich kann es nur empfehlen.

C'est en anglais, mais peu importe car la musique est une langue universelle. J'avais déjà acheté ces cahiers d'exercices version saxophone, alors quand j'ai voulu me mettre à la clarinette j'ai direct commandé la méthode rubank. Les exercices proposés sont classés par ordre croissant de difficulté et c'est pour moi un outil précieux. On arrive facilement à jouer les 1er morceaux proposés car ils sont sur des notes graves.

Part 1 and Part 2 of the series are extremely good books to work through if learning the clarinet - or if like me re-learning it after many years of not playing at all. The exercises actually sound quite nice and there are tunes scattered through, which makes the task more enjoyable. I have finished this book 1 and I am now halfway through book 2; I still enjoy playing a bit each day. No wonder so many professional teachers use this series with beginners.
