Can i use this for my shins..i have shin splints

If you could roll it up your arm it definitely could roll it up your calf I would recommend a large size these things stay cold forever

How do I know what size to get?

That's a tough one because I didn't know at first what size to get, but I started out with the x-small but found out that it was only good or fits my wrist, so then I went with the small and that fit my forearm perfectly and I'm a small person of about 100 lbs. So, it really depends what part of body needs the cold pack.

Is the cold pack freezing almost solid and alot of frost on it normal? Especially when placed in the plastic bag as recommended?

Hello, some of the fast freeze sleeves that I have, do , do that; they become solid and frosty while in the freezer. You could let it thaw, so it can become softer. I personally don't. You see, I don't put it in the bag. I just let it be in the freezer for couple of hours, take it out and then use. Hope that answers your question. It's a great product and I really enjoy it.
