Energizer kills Nyko...and looks good doing it!
Just for backround on me, I'm a hardcore gamer and I play with my buds all the time. I was looking for a good charger that wouldn't light the room up like a neon sign, but would get the job done. Oh, and I wanted something stylish that would be just as pretty to look at as the PS3. ;) This charger fits the bill perfectly. Ok, I've done what every single one of you has done, I have looked high and low for good chargers. It came down to this one and the one by Nyko ( PlayStation 3 Charge Base 2 ). When you take these two chargers into account, about the only thing you can say that the Nyko has over the Energizer is that it will plug in better. Well... as far as I see, you still have to plug them both in. I have seen however, that people find it difficult to plug in the controller on this charger...BUT! Do not write this charger off for this reason alone! I had the exact same problem as well. What I ended up finding, was that since the controller plugs into the tower instead of a little plug that you then drop into the unit as the Nyko does, it's so much more satisfying to use the tower. While difficult to learn at first (much like a stick-shift car), it only took me three tries to figure out I had to tilt my controller up a tad bit more (meaning the part that faces out goes up, the nose/USB part, goes down) than I was for it to slide in. When I did this, I got a very satisfying *shyyk* feel. Just like they were made to be together (Duh! haha). That successfully puts it on the level playing field of the Nyko, so lets see why it's heads and tails above it. This charger looks so, freaking, good. It's black, and has this gorgeous chrome trim on the sides that make it go with the Fatboy PS3 ( PlayStation 3 80 GB ) like they were both made by Sony. Don't get me wrong, I own a slim and it still looks just as good with it, even makes it look better! The lights on it are bright and noticeable, but they don't make the room glow like you have an LED sun. Now, some reviewers complained about the weight. I would argue with that, because I think it's just right! If it were any heavier, I would bet my money they would complain that it's "just as heavy as my PS3!". It's light, like it was made to be portable. It is also sturdy though, I can push my controller and just leave it there without worrying about it. The weight is not an issue unless you're lazy and just kinda throw your controller into it. Then it would fall over. Oh, I think I almost forgot the most important part. How does it CHARGE?! Oh... I'd say pretty wonderfully. It charges the controller, and it does it insanely fast. I plug in my controller after a long session of Modern Warfare 2, and it hardly takes it 20 minutes to turn green! The best thing though, is that when it's done charging it stops the flow of electricity to the controller. What this means, is that it won't burn out your controller if you leave it plugged in for days at a time. Super +! I will tell you something I found that was very nice that isn't quite charger specific. Ok, I don't know if I got a special model, but I bought my charger from Amazon and got an additional item. I got a little cradle for the PS3 headset that plugs directly into one of the side USB ports (came in the charger box!). No cable, no setting the cradle somewhere else, it plugs DIRECTLY IN! This is great for me because I have the official headset, and I just eliminated a wire plugged into my PS3. I would highly recommend this product. Some people may go with the Nyko, but for the same price I'd go with the stylish model (heck, I'd pay an extra 5 if I had to cuz it looks so good.)

Sweet charger
Got this product because I was tired of charging the ps3 controller on my computer or on the ps3. I saw his product and all the good reviews and gave it a try. It arrives in two pieces which snaps together and has a tight fit. After having two controllers hooked up to it and having it displayed on a shelf or table looks nice. As far has the charging, it works great with a red light charging indicator and green charged indicator. Charger seems to charge the controller quickly and efficiently, due to it stop charging, once the charger is charged (green light indicator stays on). It also comes with a two usb Ports on the side, where you can hook up two more items and charge four things at once. An added item in the box is a USB ps3 headset docking piece, which of course let's you charge your ps3 headset. I don't even remember it saying that it the description. This product works very well and looks good as also.

Nice simple charger
I ordered this charger here on Amazon. I had read the previous reviews about the description being misleading previously so knew what to expect from the item. I don't need anything fancy, just found it ridiculous that you can only charge the PS3 controller when the system is on! The couch in my living room is too far away to plug the remote in and charge during game play so this was a perfect fit for me. The charger was very easy to set up and looks great! It fits with my other entertainment center items very well in looks and I really like the light turning green to notify you when the controller is fully charged. For those who are wondering, I checked with the manufacturer because I could not find any info about whether this charger has a trickle charge feature or not. They confirmed that it DOES NOT trickle charge. This is my one complaint with the charger for my purposes. I would have gladly paid $10-$15 more for this feature as now keeping an eye on the controller charge status is one more maintenance thing around the house for me to deal with. I have the energizer induction charger for the Wii and it has the feature and I love being able to leave the remote on the charger and know that it's fully ready to go with no damage to the batteries, even if it's a week before I decide to play something. This station charges quickly though so I don't see it being too much of a hassle. I had just hoped to be able to have a late night gaming session and put the controller on the charger when I go to bed. Doing this on a rechargeable battery without trickle charge though will reduce the battery life and eventually mean having to replace them much sooner. Since the PS3 remotes don't make it easy to do so I really miss that feature! All in all a great product anyway that performs it's stated purpose well. I only need to charge controllers and so I can't comment on the effectiveness of the blue tooth charger built in. As a side note for those who don't know and who maybe have left the controllers on the station too often and messed their battery life up, you CAN replace the batteries in the PS3 remote, it's in the manual how to do so! I have seen a lot of sites and people on the net complaining about having to buy a $50 controller if the batteries die but you CAN replace them. Check the PS3 manual or search online to get all the info and even videos on how to do this and save yourself some cash!

Relieves the hassle of charging your controllers
This game is very nice and much fun. Sorry, the review interface asked be how much fun this game is and what I would rate this game, though, it's not a game at all. It's real life. And in real life, you don't have time to deal with dead PS3 controllers. The "Sony PS3" way of using USB to charge the controllers is a bit silly and cumbersome especially if you have one of the newer PS3s with only two USB slots. Thankfully I have an older one with four. But, I don't need to hold those slots up with controllers anymore since I purchased the Playstation 3 Energizer Power & Play Charging System from Amazon. There's not too much to say about it except that it uses AC power which frees up your PS3 USB slots. Plus, you don't have to have the PS3 on while you're charging the controllers. It also comes with a handy power dongle for the Sony PS3 Bluetooth headset. That comes in real handy as well if you have this particular headset. But, if you have a different Bluetooth headset, you can still use one of the two USB ports on the side of the charger to charge that device. An added bonus (at least for me) is that my kids finally started plugging in the controllers when they stop playing (which is rare). Unfortunately (for me) the only reason they do it is because of the snazzy lights that come on when a controller is plugged into the charger. It's red when the controller is being charged and green when the controller is done being charged. They think it looks cool when the lights are on, so they plug them in when they're not playing. Oh well, whatever it takes. Again, not much to say about it except it works. Buy one, or two if you have four controllers, today! Ok, you can buy one and be happy if you have four controllers but there are only two snazzy lights and you'd need two USB cables to charge the other two controllers. I personally will buy another one when I purchase two more controllers. The Playstation 3 Energizer Power & Play Charging System gets five snazzy LED lights out of five.

absolutely wonderful
i bought this controller dock/charger when i bought my PS3 and works exactly as advertised and have no MAJOR complaints about it 6 months into ownership. keeps my controllers & bluetooth headset fully charged when not in use and have seen no issues with damaging the controllers or batteries at all unlike other people have stated in other reviews It has 2 LED lights for the controller to show the charging status - RED for when it is in charger mode, GREEN for fully charged so you know what it is doing - the lights aren't too bright but can be seen from across my living room Pros: - works exactly as described - keeps both my controllers & bluetooth headset fully charged when not in use - still have an available USB port for another device - keeps everything neat & organized COULD BE CONS: - if you have any kind of after-market face-plates on your controllers they MAY not fit in the charging ports - i had a little trouble finding the sweet spot for the bluetooth charger to make full connection on the side - they dont make a charger YET for controllers, MOVE controllers & nav, Bluetooth headset All in all i can honestly say it is one of the best accessories i have bought for my PS3 so far & well worth the money!

This an Awesome Charger!
I bought this back in December of 2009. This thing is the best thing I ever bought when it comes to the charging of my PS3 controllers. It is still working great after all this time. I bought another one as well during that same time and it is working great as well. It comes with everything needed to connect your two controllers. It has a LED on the device for each controller that indicates when the controller is charging or is fully charged. It stops the charging when it has been completely charged. It is easy to set up and use. It comes with an AC charger and the controllers fit in nicely. I would definitely recommend this charger over others and time has told me this continues to work over time. 2/9/13: Still working great. I love this charger and have bought more along (gifts, etc) the way with no complaints.

Best charger for PS3
Some of the other chargers over eBay are quite ugly, especially how they have the controllers positioned while charging. From an overall looks perspective, this is easily the best. This charge set allows you to charge your PS3 controllers without the USB wires, but also has ports on the side for those wires if the 2 built-in ports are not enough. They say it takes 2.5 hours to charge a PS3 controller on it, but the truth is, unless you run your controller until it's bone dry on power, it's actually pretty quick in getting it back up to full. The charger lights green when the controller is fully charged, and red when it is charging still. The lights add to how nice it looks, and the built in ports give you a place to stash your controllers instead of just leaving them around the floor. The fact that it comes from a brand name like Energizer(originally Pelican) is a bonus, most all the other chargers are generic. I think this is a definite must-have if you own a PS3 with MORE than 1 controller. If you own just the one, charging it through the PS3 is sufficient enough.

Great charger, but weird connection design
I purchased this charger after realizing that charging PS3 remotes via the included USB cable is annoying and not very reliable. This Energizer item plugs directly into your wall outlet, so there is no concern with the power being on or if the USB ports are self-powered or machine powered. As soon as you plug in the remotes, a red light appears, letting you know that the remotes are being charged. Once the remotes are complete - the light turns to green. That easy! There is also a USB port on this, so you can plug in a USB cable to charge another device (I personally use it to charge my Bluetooth Headset, also for the PS3). The package is well constructed and small enough to fit behind my HDTV. I've had this for quite some time and the connections are still tight and hold the remotes in place during the charging process without issue. The remotes fit perfectly on top of one another and don't require you to be an origami expert in order to figure out how to make them stack. If I had a complaint, it would be that the connection port (front load) is a bit unwieldy. In order to plug the remote in, you have to hold it in the center and firmly press it onto the USB port - and with big fingers like mine, I often hit the PS button, which turns on the PS3. Not a fun process, but not a deal breaker either. I certainly do not have a better idea on how to make the connection to charge these remotes, so I can't complain much - but that is just about the only thing I could point out negatively about this device. Overall, it does what it is intended to do - charge your PS3 remotes. Combine that with the included USB ports and you can even charge your other PS3 devices or anything really that has a USB adapter cable (cell phones, iPads, etc).

Energizer charging system, best one out there
bought cheaper looking ones like this previously and they look crap and need to be powered by usb port which means your ps3 needs to be on to charge them... which is pointless as you want them to charge whilst your ps3 is off, this one is brilliant, looks and feels good quality and plugs into your wall sockets... bought a matching one for the xbox also and they both look really smart on my media center :)
