The other thing is lymph. When we hold tension in the muscles and fascia, lymph cannot move freely and do its job of clearing out waste from the tissue. The one thing I struggled with is getting the mask snagged in my hair, but I solved that with wearing a plastic shower cap. I wrap the bands over the cap. These days, I make the mask part of a morning process to get ready for a big day. I’ll take a shower and cleanse my face and hair, saturate my damp hair in a leave-in conditioner and put the shower cap on, and get a non-greasy slather of hylauronic acid or hydrating aloe Vera mask on my face. Sometimes I’ll add moisturize eye patches. Then I’ll carefully put the mask on. Then for 20 minutes, I’ll do a yin yoga session, stretching the rest of my body without aggressive movement, or lie down shavasana for 15 minutes. Then I’ll carefully remove the mask, and get on with the skincare or makeup or whatever, and I find all the hydration has sopped into my skin, my muscles have the benefit of reduced tension, and there’s nice circulation from the release. I would caution, be ultra gentle when you take off or put on the mask, and wash it gently. I air dry mine.
