Embrace the weird
Thinking about buying an 8mm lens? First, consider how you’ll use it and how to maximize its unique characteristics. This lens offers extreme distortion—not quite the typical fisheye effect, but enough to make panning and tilting feel wobbly or off-putting. Instead of fighting this, embrace it. The charm of an 8mm lens lies in its ability to show more than the eye naturally sees, pushing your perspective far beyond the ordinary. Keep in mind: what you capture won’t look “normal” or even like what you envisioned—it’ll be more abstract, more immersive. You’re getting a solid metal build, a de-clicked aperture for smooth adjustments, and space for an ND filter, which is essential for controlling light. Value-wise, it’s worth the investment. So how can you use it? Landscapes and architecture are obvious choices, but if you’re feeling adventurous, try portraits. Not the traditional close-ups, but environmental portraits—ones that include the subject’s surroundings to tell a richer story. This lens invites experimentation and challenges you to step out of your comfort zone. With an 8mm lens, you’re not just capturing moments; you’re reshaping how you see the world.

Amazing ultra wide lens for MFT
In the world or real estate videography this is one beast of a lens! Captures amazingly wide and sharp images for a MFT mount camera. The images are sharp, field of view is huge and being a non-clicked cinema lens adjustments are smooth and easily made. The lens is built like a tank and works well within the full set Meike cinema lenses. For the price and anyone with a MFT camera body you will be hard pressed to find anything else like this.

AWESOME LENS
If you are a filmmaker you will love this lens. Very fluid iris and focus rings. Very sharp at 3ft! Great product!

Edge distortion! + Filter selection too limited!
Returned item due to edge distortion. Also, good 86mm constant ND filters are too hard to find. The ones you can find cost an arm, leg, and a kidney. But if you have time to correct every distorted shot in post and shoot with matte boxes this one’s for you.

Great for interior video and pics
I try to use around f4-f6. The depth of field is big here and so the manual focus is easy to guess at. Seems pretty sharp, and not too distorted. Will use more over the next 4 months and will update. I have this on a Lumx Gh5
