Keychron C1 Hot-swappable Wired Mechanical Computer Keyboard with Gateron G Pro Brown Switch/Double-Shot ABS Keycaps/White Backlight/USB Type-C Cable, Tenkeyless 87 Keys for Mac Windows PC

Did not expect much for a keyboard on the older side, as the budget keyboard market has progressed quickly since 2021 release of this board. However, I was very satisfied with this keyboard, it is a well built, reliable reinforced with detachable wired only (no wireless battery dying within 2 years), and with reliable tactile switches that is also hot-swappable. This solves many of the failure points that could go wrong in a keyboard, and the PCB itself, I have faith in Keychron's QC. This keyboard is a no frills product, it isn't doing more than needed. It is a keyboard that will be there when you need it to work. The only feature I would've wanted to add more longer lasting performance is PBT keycaps, to prevent shiny keycaps, but that's more a luxury want, these ABS keycaps do the job and won't fail on you, while cutting cost. The lubing on my unit was extremely well done, and consistent, with only one side of the backspace key needing a little lubing, but extremely impressive for this price point as I've dealt with much worse from brands like Wooting, Aula, and Epomaker. Lighting is well and bright, RGB would've been cool but I don't really care for it, if it means cheaper board. The weight is fair, it's not light but on that side of the scale. I like the keycaps design, being white and black means it can adapt to many different desk set ups without a problem. The sound isn't marbly or a deep thock, but it is nice neutral classic mechanical keyboard sound to my ears, more on the thocky side than clacky. The Keychron brand itself is known for selling solid keyboards at a good price, although in recent years their more modern releases has seen mixed reviews, this keyboard doesn't suffer from that and is coming from one of the stronger releases of a brand that has trust from many. The Mac to Window switch is awesome, the blue led to show what you are on and also for caps lock, it's a straight forward design. Great 9.5/10 board for what I wanted, a workhorse. Will update if it doesn't stand the test of time, starting 2026.

Great bang for the buck. i love the feeling when i type into it. It's fairly easy on the fingers and i don't have to apply as much pressure as on my older more expensive quieter keyboards. this one is not quiet though. but you can definintely enjoy typing away your stress. fewer typos. it's brisk. the design is great. i thought i wouldn't like it, but i now like it very much. it looks classic and old at first, almost colorless. but no, this one is a true classic. the light that comes on is also just so subtle enough for my taste. great buy. sturdy. i'd give it 4.5 (minus 0.5 due to the sound, but hey if you type alone with no one around, this is a fun keyboard.) a real joy! better than my leopold that cost me $150 bucks honestly.

I've never had a mechanical keyboard before, but wanted to invest in a nicer keyboard because I spend about 1/3 of every day typing. While I considered other keyboards, I ended up picking this one because of its flexibility/modifiability while still being 100% beginner-friendly. I got a good bargain by purchasing used, so I paid only $51--at that price it really can't be beat. It was hard to find an "entry-level" mechanical keyboard that was high-quality without ridiculous rainbow glowy lights all over it. (Sure, RGB features on those blinged-out gaming keyboards can be disabled, but then it feels like I'm paying a premium for a feature I didn't even want.) This keyboard ticks all the boxes for me and has been a delight to use so far. Pros: - The stock keycaps feel high quality. Of course they're replaceable too, if they ever wear out or I want a change. - Pleasantly subtle color scheme. No rainbow glowy lights. They even include extra ESC keycaps if you don't like the orange one it comes with. - Switches and stabilizers feel buttery smooth to me, but I am a mechanical keyboard newbie, so I'm comparing it to the cheap scissor-mechanism keyboards I'm used to. - Wired USB-C with a replaceable cable. I hate Bluetooth keyboards and mice, and far prefer a trusty plug-n-play peripheral like this that never needs a battery or disconnects itself at inconvenient times. It Just... Works. Info: - Can switch between Mac and Windows/Linux layout on the fly. Extra keycaps for alt/option/command/WIN are included too so you can set it up for your preferred layout. - I won't be using the keyboard backlight much, since even when I program in the dark I'm still touch-typing. But occasionally I gotta hunt-and-peck some special function key, so I guess it's nice to have. It has several silly/aesthetic lighting patterns that I will never use, haha. - I chose Brown switches and am happy with them, though they are slightly louder than I was expecting. (Mechanical keyboard nerds aren't lying when they wax enthusiastic about the satisfying clackety noises.) The hot-swappable feature means a noob like me can try different switches without having to solder, if I were so inclined. Cons: - Keycaps are ABS plastic, which tends to be less durable than PBT and will attract finger oils over time. (Though since they are removable, can easily clean or replace them.) - Maybe the loudness of the switches is a con if you are in an open plan office; though with some practice I think I can learn to type more quietly on these Brown switches, since they require less forceful presses and are more precise than basic cheapo keyboards I've used until now. I never expected to feel so positively about a basic computer peripheral! Guess I'm a mech keyboard enthusiast now?

Giving this 5 stars with the caveat - for the price. This is an amazing mechanical keyboard at this price. I recently fell into the rabbit hole of mechanical keyboards. I wanted an inexpensive one to go with a work computer. This one fit the need nicely. The white backlight is unobtrusive, but adds a nice touch. The keycaps are the cheaper plastic, but still feel nicer than expected - much nicer than most cheap keyboards. The two-tone color of the keycaps makes a unique look that separates this one from cheaper keyboards in the office. I also appreciate that the keyboard came with extra keycaps to switch from the default Mac layout to a Windows layout. The sound of typing on this is also much better than I expected after watching reviews from online keyboard snobs. I expected a thin, hollow, and rattly sound, but it actually sounds pretty solid. I had considered taking it apart and doing the tap mod and adding foam inside, but it honestly sounds good enough that I probably won't go to that trouble. The included USB cable also includes a C to A adapter so it can connect to pretty much any computer. The build quality is also pretty good. While it is all plastic, it feels like it's, again, better quality than most cheap keyboards. It won't compete with other mechanical keyboards at twice the price, but it will serve it's purpose quite well and I hope will last a long time. Really, my only complaint about this out of the box is the included Gateron Brown switches. While they are "tactile" switches, the tactile bump is barely there. When typing fast, they honestly feel more like linear switches. I will be replacing the switches with an option that gives a much more pronounced tactile experience. But that's why I made sure to get the hot swappable version.

This is a nice keyboard for the price. I'm on keyboards 30 to 80 hours per week, and this one puts me in a good mood by typing. Yeah that makes no sense, but I say it like it is, I now have two of them. Those are the pros, and now one con: I bought the same company's K8 keyboard and it did not work as a keyboard even though its LED backlight worked. Amazon is sending me a replacement to try, we'll see how the K8 goes and I hope it works. I'm not going to subtract a star just because one keyboard failed, when I have two of my favorites.

Awesome budget keyboard, I bought with the Brown switches because I wanted this board primarily for typing rather than gaming. Sound and key feel are fine for the price. I tend to prefer a slightly heavier switch, but the Brown switches are not so sensitive that I make extra typos. The keyboard itself is largely plastic, but seems fairly well built, and the plastic construction allows it to remain lightweight. Connectivity-wise, this is a wired only board, but I purchased this board on purpose knowing that. I am trying to minimize the number of lithium batteries I have lying around. My only complaint is that the cutout around the USB-C port limits which cables I can use. I have some high quality type-C cables that I cannot use with this board because the cutout around the actual port is not large enough for the cable to properly fit. Only cables with a small sleeve around the actual connector will fit.

I will preface this review with the fact that I am a complete and utter noob in this massive world that is custom mechanical keyboards. The only experience I have with mechanical keyboards are with the marketed pre-built "gaming" ones with Cherry MX Red linear switches. With that being said: Instead of ultimately building my own, I decided I would leave that special first-time for when I am ready to build something I want for gaming/personal user at home. I chose Keychron's pre-built C1 over others after careful research and consideration. Bluetooth/wireless option was not really a deal-breaker for me, and I decided to go with Gateron Brown Tactile switches as my only other experience with mechanical keyboards have been lighter, Linear switches. I wanted to try and experience a different feel as this time I needed something for the office. Right out of the box: The quality is fantastic. Although it is a plastic frame and provides a different sound profile, I wanted something relatively lightweight as it would be a dedicated keyboard for the office. Having watched tons of videos of the Keychron K series, Q series, and C series I was able to get a good idea for the stock sound they generally tend to provide. Maybe I was lucky, but all the keys sounded absolutely fantastic. These Gateron Browns, along with the stabilizers for the bigger keys came factory lubed and I was blown away by the sound profile that I was getting right out of the gate. A deep, satisfying T H O C C, especially with the bigger keys like my spacebar, left/right-shift, backspace, enter, etc. However, A quick type test made me realize the keycaps themselves do feel and sound a little bit on the thinner side, providing a little bit more resonance and reverberation of the higher-end frequencies. This tended to give the alphabetical keys a more clacky sound and feel, which contrasted some of that beautiful, thocc-y sound I was getting from some of the bigger keys. Overall, the combination of all these factors kind of gives this keyboard a more muted, balanced sound of both thocc and clack. Having only experienced the ways of the clack, I can confidently say that I consider myself T H O C C gang. As for the switches, I am honestly torn between what I like more. I know in this community there is a lot of debate between Linear gang and Tactile gang, but at this point in time I don't know exactly where I stand. I had never really worked in a setting that involved a lot of keyboard use, so my only real experience had been in a more gaming setting. I will be using this keyboard stock- for now, in the office for a little while to really see where it stands for me as time goes on. I will update my review in the near-future in hopes to give an even better perspective and opinion on this keyboard should any newcomes to this community come across the choice of a pre-built.

The keyboard provides a lot of extras that you don't find with mechanical keyboards at this price range - hot swappable switches, a physical switch for OSX or Windows, and white backlight. In the box, you get windows keycaps if you need are a windows user - it comes with OSX keycaps in place. Also included is, usb-c to usb-a adapter keycap puller and switch puller. I don't care for wireless keyboards but if you're looking for one, this one will not work for you. I'm not a gamer and this is for work so I not sure how if it's any good for that. I like the different key cap color layout, it gives some style and variety in color. I don't really need backlighting for my keyboard but it's a nice touch and you can cycle through a various lighting configurations. One thing to keep in mind is if you turn on the backlighting the emitted light is uneven with the white and black keycaps. This keyboard is lighter then the one I have in the office but that's not a bad thing. The lip at the front fo the keyboard is lower than some of the other mechanical keyboards out there but I did end up getting a wrist support for it. The gateron brown switches are little more mushy compared to outemu brown switches. My only other complaint is when I undock my laptop and keep the keyboard plugged in, I cannot seem to turn off the background light. Not a big deal since I can just unplug the keyboard from the dock but it's something I noticed.

Después de ver MUCHOS videos y de hablar con amigos que ya conocen un poco del tema, terminé comprando el Keychron C1 con interruptores cafés. El paquete llegó 10 días antes de lo esperado, en una caja de cartón sin relleno. Creo que por seguridad deberían ponerle relleno de plástico o más papel. La caja estaba intacta e incluía todo lo que se menciona en la descripción. Configurarlo es súper rápido. Aunque este teclado en particular esta enfocado en dispositivos Apple, sólo tuve que cambiar el switch a Windows y también cambié las teclas con las que vienen incluidas. Y sí, el teclado está en inglés, primera vez que ocupo uno con este formato, pero si te sabes las teclas de memoria no deberías de tener ningún problema (al menos ese es mi caso). Y por cierto, si te gustaría ocupar "fn lock" (porque no viene por defecto), tienes que pulsar FN + X + L al mismo tiempo hasta que el teclado parpadee. Al estar investigando decidí conseguir un teclado "Hot swap" para que yo lo pueda modificar si en algún momento me decido a hacerlo. Viene con interruptores cafés, que son silenciosos pero táctiles para escribir ya que yo no lo ocupo para gaming. Aunque muchas personas prefieren el sonido de los "rojos" porque son más silenciosos, en lo personal me encantaron los cafés, el volumen que produce es muy similar a un teclado de membrana normal de oficina. Aunque me hubiera gustado conseguir la versión RGB, la luz blanca es muy buena y con muchos efectos. Mi favorito es el que se ilumina por cada tecla que presiono de forma individual. He estado pensando hacerle una modificación y meterle una esponjilla para reducir la resonancia, pero esto dependerá de cada quien ya que si algo le ocurre al teclado en el proceso, la garantía no es válida. Puntos negativos: - Me gustaría que en el manual tuviera más detallado las funciones de las teclas del lado de las flechas - El empaque debería tener más cosas para proteger la caja del teclado. - No tiene software nativo para cambiar funciones, se tiene que ocupar "sharp keys" pero afecta a todos tus teclados En conclusión, es una excelente compra por si es tu primer teclado mecánico y también si piensas en un futuro modificarlo a tu gusto o reparar fácilmente teclas que dejen de funcionar.

Es plug and play, lo conectas y funciona, sin bajar softaware que solo alenta tu PC. Era exactamente lo que buscaba; mecanico sin hacer mucho ruido, apesar del plastico el teclado es duro y se nota resistente, se le pueden cambiar los switches y el contraste blanco y negro con el acento de naranja en la esquina lo hace ver como un producto de calidad. Tiene como 10 tipos diferentes de iluminacion tambien lo cual es un extra. Las teclas se sienten como gomitas, suabes y faciles de presionar. Es una experiencia diferente que en verdad es dificil de describir aqui. Lo recomiendo mucho y el precio es bastante bueno!
