The Laser Collimator allows you to swiftly and precisely collimate your Newtonian telescope. Only when the optics have been accurately collimated can the telescope offer you its full performance. It designed specifically for collimating the optics of Newtonian reflectors.
It has a side window that allows viewing of a 45° disk with a center hole. This canbe used later to see if the laser is reflected back toitself.
Red laser collimation beam with 7 brightness levels, wavelength 635-655nm; Output power: 3.8mW, much safer for your eyes.
If it can be further adjusted if required, it has three openings holes for aligning adjustment
.
Unscrew the rear cover with your barehands, although it is designed with anti-slip knurling. You can use your belongings to open it.
The Laser Collimator is powered by one
). When the laser beam starts to dim or completely fades, it’s time to replace the battery. To do so, unscrew the knurled battery compartment cap at the top of the collimator. With a knife tip or the end of a paper clip, lift the edge of the expired battery out. Insert a fresh CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side up. Then replace the cap
This adjustment tool can be used in all 1.25" focusers. We provide you with precise instructions in German and English, with a step-by-step explanation of how to adjust a Newtonian telescope using this laser unit. So, even if you are a newcomer to amateur astronomy, it is very simple to get the optimum performance out of your telescope.
The Laser Collimator has been precisely aligned at the factory and can be used directly, unless a strong impact which require recalibration.
You need a holder that is required is a suitable "V" block to rest the collimator body in so that it can be rotated through 360 degrees. To check the calibration, the laser should be rested in the jig aimed at a wall about 6 metres (20 ft) away and slowly rotated. If the laser dot on the wall describes a circle, then the collimator is out of calibration.
Your Laser Collimator is manufactured of the highest quality components. The internal laser diode is precision aligned with the mechanical axis of the housing at the factory and tested to meet stringent specifications. Like all electronic equipment, the Laser Collimator should be handled with care. If it is dropped or handled roughly, the internal laser could become misaligned. Avoid exposing the collimator to water, dust, heat.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What size battery does this use?? The cr2032 does not appear to fit properly.**
A: It takes a CR2032, but it looks like it takes a smaller size when you're looking at it. I've never seen a battery holder like this one (though there's nothing wrong with it) The battery holder has "claws" to grab the side of the cell and an O-ring to pull the claws together and have some pressure on the connection. Just insert the battery edge into the opening and slowly press it down all around until it seats, then screw the battery cover back on. You don't need tools but there is a slot in the cover for a coin if you have trouble opening it. You'll have to hold the brightness selector ring (it has numbers on it) in place while you unscrew the battery cover (or when screwing it back on) whether you do it by hand or with a coin. This should make for better electrical contact with the battery but it might make it more difficult to remove it. Perhaps they were thinking that you might be doing this in the dark and this would keep the battery from falling out until you were ready to pull it out but if you're using a laser collimator you're not likely to be doing this in the dark anyway. When you use a star to check the final results you won't need to have this along.

**Q: Can any one provide an explaination on how to put in the battery? without forcing it i cant see how nor do i see release screws?**
A: I had to force mine. I consider it a design flaw. Good Luck

**Q: Can i use this my orion xt6 dobsonian?**
A: definitely, it is made just for newtonians.

**Q: My unit came uncollimated and i do not know what tool can i use to move those 3 screws on a side. they are filled with pitch. what tool can i use?**
A: Just remove the "pitch" with a small blade screwdriver and a pick. The screws can be accessed.

I wasn’t expecting much given the low price, but this Astromania Laser Collimator really impressed me. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do and gets the job done without costing a fortune. What I Liked:Super Easy to Use: Setting it up was a breeze. Some reviewers mentioned issues with the battery, but I had no problems. It takes a CR2032 battery, and I had it installed in seconds—super simple.Does the Job Well: After using this collimator, my reflector telescope was perfectly aligned. The views were noticeably sharper, and it saved me a lot of time getting everything lined up.Laser Dot with Adjustable Brightness: The laser dot was clear and easy to see, and I really appreciated the adjustable brightness settings. They made it easy to use in different lighting conditions without any issues.Sturdy Build: I was surprised by how solid it feels. It’s not flimsy like I expected at this price, and it’s held up well after several uses.Final Thoughts: For the price, this collimator is a fantastic deal. It works great, was easy to set up, and helped me get my telescope perfectly aligned. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly tool for your Newtonian, I highly recommend this one.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well, came collimated w/battery
*by on Reviewed in the United States April 30, 2026*

Well after reading all the horror stories about Lazer collimators about they don't work right until it's been collimated prior to collimate your telescope and how difficult is was i viewed several videos on the process and decided that it wasn't that difficult and went ahead and purchased this Lazer collimator. I was pleasantly surprised when I installed the (supplied) battery, turned it on and tested it in my homemade collomation device. I must got one that someone knew what they were doing because it was dead on. I put it in my reflector telescope, aligned my secondary then the primary mirrors and went outside. I located the brightest star I could see (Arcturas) and performed a star test and my scope was just about dead on and only minor primary mirror was required to get it spot on.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty Good
*by on Reviewed in the United States July 16, 2022*

This was my first collimator, and to be completely honest it was alright.Yes, it doesn't come with a battery but they're really easy to get anyways. Plus, if you have the ability of basic reading you'll realize that it says it doesn't come with a battery. The laser itself came collimated, thankfully, even though the shipping took a while, so I'd say it's sturdy. Additionally, The laser was very bright and and not blurry at all.The reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because of how horribly sticky and jammed the sockets were, and also because of the packaging itself (cardboard that disintegrated immediately).Other than that, I'd say this thing is pretty good at its job. It collimated my Dob very easily and it's pretty neat. :D9/10
