Strong, secure and built for the real world. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - UPDATED
I spent entirely too much time researching a bag that would fit my gear and be secure while trekking through NYC. I selected the Pacsafe after many reviews and videos. The price was on the high side but I have to admit this bag is not only worth every cent but has become my daily bag for transporting my Razer 14 (fits perfectly) and all my EDC essentials. There are more than enough pockets to store items and the bag is built like a tank. Add in the layers of security and I can easily recommend this bag to anyone wanting more than a bag like North Face or Ogio provides. If you are looking for the upper line you can stop your search here.UPDATE: Jan 2018Almost a year into this bag and it has ventured with me on every trip I take. I would still buy this bag over anyone on the market without a second guess. It is strong and light yet still protects my laptop (Yoga 900) through it all. I have not questioned its durability once and the anti-theft features are a welcome addition. The price is still a hard pill to swallow until you realize what you are getting. This bag lasts and has everything one would need.I was not paid or compensated for this review unlike most of Amazon these days.

Great quality, still not lockable...
I've been using this backpack for a few months and the quality is just awesome. It's very sturdy. I use the outside and inside small pockets on top a lot. It doesn't have too many or too few pockets. The size is good for walking around town. I keep a laptop or laptops in it regularly. The strap clip feature is nice, but you can't lock it. I like all the straps that hold it on you.My one complaint: I'm not deducting from the score for this because I couldn't find a backpack that actually has these features was that you can't actually lock all the zippers together. For a backpack that has metal mesh in the lining you'd think it would be even easier to be able to lock all the zippers together or even lock it to a pole instead of just clipping it. Of course it's not going to keep it 100% safe, but it would keep people from being able to open it without detection if you weren't there. That level of security keeps your stuff safe from people who wouldn't noticeably open a locked bag. This is a great bag, but I'd love to be able to add a real lock.

Broken after 36 hours
My first mistake may have been purchasing through Amazon for this product. I should have gone directly to the seller. I also never write reviews for products but in this case I had to make an exception.I did weeks of research into backpacks before I determined I wanted a Pacsafe product. I wanted something I wouldn't have to replace for a while. I travel often for my job and for pleasure, and had never taken the time to buy myself a good backpack for day trips or short getaways. The X30 was the best combination I could find of compactness, sturdy features, practicality, and just general aesthetic appeal. I was very excited when it finally arrived, and found initially it lived up to my expectations. There are enough pockets to keep items separated but not too many so as to overwhelm. It has a smooth, discreet profile. The computer sleeve accommodated an older model MacBook Pro with a 13 inch screen and a laptop cover. It fit perfectly under an airplane seat. I was growing very attached to the bag.I brought the bag to Vietnam on a trip with my mother as well as my wife and toddler daughter. Our first day out was a full day of touring during which I had carried no more than 2 small water bottles, a pen, a handheld camera, 2 iPads, our passports, and some small clothing and comfort items for my daughter. The total extra weight was probably no more than 12 pounds. That evening, while still wearing the bag, I was adjusting the right shoulder strap to tighten it further and allow the bag to ride a bit higher on my back. Well I must have tugged too hard because the threading on the strap which held the ladder lock to the bag just failed and the ladder lock came off completely, still attached to the pull straps you use to adjust the bag height. This was disappointing. I spent so much time and energy selecting this bag and it let me down after less than 36 hours of use.I also ordered the X22 at the same time as the X30. It arrived around the same time as the X30. That one didn't even make it on travel with me though because I opened it to inspect it and found that somehow the small pockets inside the front cavity were sewn upside down! How does that even happen? The whole front compartment was unusable and now I'm dealing with Amazon to get a refund, as I will need to do for the X30. I really wanted to love this bag. I still want one that is usable without defects or shoddy quality. The design is too good to completely give up on.

Pacsafe Venturesafe X30
Used this pack for a two weeks backpacking trip to Myanmar... Mandalay, Bagan and Inle Lake. It's large enough to hold all my belonging for the entire trip but small enough for day to day carry when you are exploring the temples and pagodas on E-bike or bicycle... I travel light. It's a perfect carry-on pack.Security features give you peace of mind. One of the shoulder straps can be use to wrap around an obstacle to prevent snatch and run, which I used often and easy to do.Two things that would make it perfect are 1) I wish it's wider, maybe 4 inches to be able to accept a 400mm prime telephoto lens. Yes, I'd carried that lens in the pack, vertically. 2) I wish the rain cover is a bit bigger. When the pack is fully loaded/stuffed, it barely cover the pack, quite tight.Otherwise, I highly recommend this Pacsafe X30 for ultralight backpacker.

GREAT And Versatile Backpack
The War Department (Mrs. B.) bought this Pacsafe backpack for a two week trip through Ireland and Scotland. It was perfect for her needs. She and her sister were on a tour together and this was used mainly as a daypack although it is large enough to be used for a two to three day outing if necessary. She particularly like this pack's comfortable feel while wearing it. It has adequate pockets, straps and openings. It has two external net pouches for water bottles as well. In short she loves this backpack and would both buy it again if necessary as well as highly recommending it to others.
