I love this new system! I was on the hunt for a security camera system. After doing some research I decided I didn’t want to use a cloud based service that would cost me a monthly operating fee. I then looked at the big box stores, but I elected to try the ZOSI DVR wired camera system. Best value and cost by far. I installed the system without any problems. One could just hook it up and it automatically starts recording, or you can use many other useful features. My mom probably could have just plugged it in to record without any reading... if you want other features, some degree of technical abilities is needed. Points to know: 1. I created a gmail account just for this and set security on my gmail to low so that the ZOSI dvr was able to use the outgoing mail server without any issues. I could then make settings on the DVR to email me alerts when motion is detected. 2. I didn’t use a PC to program, but rather the included mouse. It’s easy. One can then look at a frame and select where in the frame to look for motion and set the sensitivity. This is useful if a frame has trees blowing and cars going by, but you only want an alert if a gate opens. 3. I downloaded the ZOSI app for my iPhone and I initially couldn’t get it to work. I emailed their tech support and they were fast and helpful. The manual is not well written and the tech support by email required me to think a bit differently. I sent screen shots and they texted back, “Please use zosi smart app on your phone, your DVR's network is okay, And the e-mail issue, the smtp server is smtp.gmail.com please refer to the below link” I was initially thinking... “don’t they see I did use the ZOSI app? But then I thought to look and there is more than one app... and there is one called, “ZOSI smart” I had ZOSI view. So get the right one! And I quickly said to myself... that’s how I set up the email... but I wrote “google” and not “gmail”. It was easy once I corrected my mistakes. Thank you ZOSI support. 4. Lots of options for cameras and DVRs. I have a guest house and a front house. Small city lot, but still further than the 65’ of run for the camera cable. I ended up buying 2 different ZOSI systems. Both are great. The cost is great. The app registers the devices and I can monitor from my iPhone. 5. In trying to solve some email issues before contacting their support, I read some posts on setting up port forwarding on your router. Don’t worry... it wasn’t needed. This isn’t as complicated as I was thinking! So in the end, I was able to install 2 systems with 6 cameras and my property is covered! All for much cheaper than a monthly fee based service.

I bought the Zosi 8 CH DVR w/4 cameras to replace a very old, quad QSEE system. Overall, the system performs well with excellent picture quality and is reasonably easy to set up. Customer service is excellent when my DVR had an issue with the HDMI output. "Moon" from Zosi was accommodating, and sent a new unit from their U.S. warehouse promptly. I’d not hesitate to buy this product again! Pros: - Good value for a 1080P system - Excellent picture quality, and the DVR is easy to setup - Small DVR package - Good customer service Cons - Provided cameras (AHD format) provides good picture quality, but the plastic housing is flimsy and hard to remove the mounting ring. There are internal pads that may fall out, and impossible to put back. I buy extra cameras on Amazon (TVI format) with all metal housing to use outside - Outputs. Be careful. If you set the HDMI output to the highest resolution and your monitor does not recognize it, don’t expect to see it on the VGA output. You will need to look at the composite video out to reset it.

Great system for the price. 1080p cameras and a 1TB DVR for under $200 is pretty good. I have all 4 cameras recording at max resolution and it stores about 30 days worth of video before it over writes. Easy installation too. I haven’t been able to get the email alerts to work. The user interface for the iPhone app could use some work. It will freeze sometimes or lock up my 6S phone. Not too often though. I also have the DVR connected to a HD monitor. The user interface is pretty good, it just takes some time to learn how to use all the features. The cameras work well and the night vision is good. If you are covering a large area I would recommend an additional IR flood light for at night. Update..... After about 1 year I had an issue where the DVR would not boot up. I contacted a person named Slina at ZOSI tech support via email and I received a response within a few hours. I was asked to try several things which didn't fix it. I was then asked to send the broken unit back and I received a warranty replacement in about 4 days. I was very impressed with the quick response, level of customer support and the ease of getting a replacement under warranty. My system is now working again and I am a happy customer!

I purchased this product to replace a worn out security system. I tested the cameras before installing and everything seem to work. After install and set up...somethings have not loaded ...wifi has not loaded and is still cable connected to router. Tests show network connected okay but cant stream live view to the zosi app on my phone. The app loaded and camera are registered but when live view it states cant connect. This all would not be a problem if I could contact someone by phone and do a walk through set up of each page which is about 6 on the dvr. But I cant, the only way you have to contact them is by email. Then they repeatedly ask for your product id and codes because you get different people each time. Amazon offers support but its just for the basic set up not problems. The small amount of guides that come with it only show some set up...it does not show all screens you must deal with to complete set up. The cameras view is good, they are night vision good but OMG! you must be tech savvy to get it up and going. Only the network is automatic if you check it. The rest is up to you to figure out. Im sure its some small something but unless you can get guidence or the guide shows each section of the set up then you are going to be not using some of the advertised benefits and thus it is not worth the cost. Now I have this already installed I am not going to return it as Ive got bruises all over from being up in the attic running cables. But if you are thinking about buying it you better know how to set it up completely without help I am sending emails back and forth to China for help although slow and lacking in communication of what I need and sending snap shots of all screens I hope to get this worked out. Update! The wifi dvr only works with rt3070 wifi usb adapter which i have ordered on amazon. Next i found a simple trouble shoot that moves step by step setting up zosi view. The catch is plugging in the dvr and camera names and id. When you set up you can name your syst anything but you have to use the dvr id too then your network name and pw which should be done when setting up your dvr. So my 2 issues are almost solved which were why wifi was not working and why i could not view my cameras on zosi view. Still manf should include a set up manual that completes set up and trouble shoots. I am not upgrading stars because a piece of eqt is only as good as you can utilize it. No good manual and set up takes away from using the system and ive spent several days on this. Lets now see how this product lasts. Update! The zosi view app stopped working! had it doing fine and checked on it several times during today...and it just stops connecting. Reviews say its a big problem with app...set it up and it works and then bang it doesnt and gives a not connecting message. What a mess this is! They sell their item to do all these things and it does finally after you figure it out then it stops working. I wish I hadnt purchased it. Update...zosi app started working again no ryme or reason just for a few moments its working. Contacted zosi about it and once again got asked for id and pw to verify but they never send solutions. I think my time and trouble have far exceeded the cost of this item now...should i send them a bill? Update! Another yes! After all settings and resetting...got wifi adapter in and was one thing that was easy to set up. It works and so far app has not shut down but the dvr is running at a high pitch and bothersome buzz. I have to leave tv on low to drown it out which makes it hard to rest. The night vision changes seem to be having troubles as it will flicker several times before it changes. I posted a question on site about noise from dvr and got 2 responses. One from cust who said it sounded like the fan and the other from zosi stating the dvr needed to be upgraded. I called amazon to find out what that meant and they could not get involved until zosi has the 48 hrs to complete the response. Im assuming they will replace the dvr then i will have to go thru set up again. One customer has posted they did replace his and it was working fine and quiet. I hope so as im worn out dealing with this. Good luck ! Tried to Add. video of noise problem....it will cause headache but wont allow. Update almost end of return period and broken promises to replace dvr. Was told it would mail out fast ship last monday. Contacted thru email again now says tomorrow. Dvr so annoying with a high pitched buzzing cant stand it at night while resting so only use during day. Amazon said if they didnt help to get back to them will be consulting with them today. You cant return just one item and you have to deal with emails to china. Never again will i buy from china...had i known but support was listed through amazon so thought it safe....another cloak used to cover shabby cina products and take amerucan dollars shame on you amazon! I buy alot from amazon but lately these foreign sub zero products are too frequent. Final last update. After numerous emails to china and calls to amazon a person named crystal in china responded to my pleas for help. She asdured me she would send out another dvr. Although they could not give mw tracking number and postpined shipping dates it finally arrived. It did come witjout a hard drive when i purchased one with it and how they would know it wadnt the hard drive making the noise but none the less i put the jard drive swap over then hooked it ip and its quieter than the other. It looks the same and i could not secure the hard drive with screws it still works and is quiet enougn to rest in the same room. It does make a humm but as bad as before. I credit crystal in the customer support. Once i made contact through email with her she was the one who responded from then on out and finally sent a dvr replacement. She responded about the hard drive as she knew the noise was not coming from it so possibly they have knowledge about those particular dvr. So problems are solved and not only once but twice Crystal has advised me if i want continued support i must give a best review. I cant and wont lie about this so i will not have anymore customer support on this product but maby this extensive review will prevent the problems for some one else. If i could go back and would have known i would have to deal with China i would not have purchased. I thank you crystal for correcting the dvr problem.

Ok, rewriting my review several years later after my purchase because this needs to be said (2/2026) and amazon don't sensor this. Since an update issued in the last couple of years, now these DVR systems are inaccessible on your local network without internet connection. They will tell you its possible, but only AFTER you established a internet connection to the cameras using their AVSS brand software which connects to their servers, then you can block the DVR system's IP in your router from the internet until the next time you want to connect to your cameras locally on your own network each time. I have been using this device as a standalone device only connected to a monitor for a while now because of this, without a way to view on my desktop/laptop/phone, but I finally ordered a different brand and it is a world of difference. Other brands not only let you connect with your LOCAL NETWORK with no internet required, but you don't even need to use software, just open a browser, type the IP and connect to a web UI. BUT NOT THIS BRAND. It's also worth mentioning that I monitor my network traffic and these devices try to ping dvema.com (a Chinese registered domain) about twice per-second when you block internet (SEE PHOTO). Like it's throwing a tantrum that you blocked its internet connection so it just goes nuts DDOS'ing my local DNS server until it can get data about you sent back out to China. The other brand I bought has absolutely no network traffic going in or out whatsoever when I don't have internet syncing enabled and I can access the other brand just fine on my local network on any device with either my browser or third-party open software unlike this system. Folks, You have to keep cyber security in mind, especially when buying things like this. This device makes it impossible to connect to it on your local network BY CHOICE (it used to). Now unless you just plug it into your TV and forget about it, you need internet. I don't know who owns these servers, I don't know where the servers are (domain points to China), i don't know who has access to the servers, and i don't know what they are doing with my registration data, camera feeds, or who's watching me from their server. A system like this should 100% have an ability to locally connect to them from within your network without internet whatsoever. I would class these security camera DVR's as high-risk and say to avoid them based on this. Mine has now been replaced. *They did however patch the bug that locked up the entire system when you insert a USB sick into the unit which I mentioned in my previous review. ---- Previous Review for transparency: The Cameras themselves are great quality for the price. My issue is the DVR locks up when I insert a USB stick to copy over files. I discovered this bug when I went to make a copy for the police when they had an incident happen down the street. I had to play it on my PC using AVSS software that makes me play the video while it records locally rather than just pull that file from the system. [THIS WAS FIXED] My other issue is the DVR is constantly making a network query to dvema.com (a Chinese registered domain) about twice per-second according to my ADGUARD network server. This appears to be related to the remote app software but it should not be making a query 2-3 times per second when not in use. Anyway thats my review. I blocked it remotely. I only access it locally on my network anyway. [LOCAL NOT POSSIBLE NOW WITHOUT INTERNET]
